ok, so I just got done baking gingerbread cookies with my Gran(and I've never felt more manly with a rolling pin on one hand and a can of beer in the other) and a couple of things occured to me:
1. I've never been more embarassed by my generation. She asked for Chirstmas music so I flicked it onto a music channel and VH1 classic had "We Love Christmas" playing. this seemes Chirstmasy but unfortunately we got one christmas song, one random song and then it switched to about seventy thousand different adverts for downloading sounds for mobile phones. I can only imagine what must have been going through her head and what she thoguht of peopel my age :upset:
2. Tradition is quite possibly the strongest force in the universe. It doesn't matter how stupid something is, or if no one wants to do it. If its tradition then it gets done no matter what simply because its tradition. This is where all the evil geniuses have been going wrong.

I always thought that most indie (especially these days) was just a replacement for pop-punk. Un-energetic/'chilled-out' music, with guitarists playing slow power chords and ripping off classic rock bands. But that opinion has only derived from listening to The Strokes, The Libertines, Keane, Maroon 5 and Kasabian.

My University sleep cycle was awesome. I was going to bed around 6-7pm, and then waking up around 2 am. WoW is superb. I played EQ for two years... and this game is sort of like if most of the bad aspects of EQ were taken out or fixed.
There's less focus on time sinks than EQ, in a sense. In EQ you had to spend hours to get anything done, but in WoW you can log on for just a half an hour or an hour and make some progress - but there is still enough work to be done to keep power players like me happy.

Well that's kind of the worry I get from WoW. It seems to have the "ooh, new, shiny thing"-effect going for it. I can't think of the actual word for this at the moment, but I'm sure you know what I mean. EQ/EQII seems like more the sort of thing I could enjoy, more in-depth, more time-consuming.

Down in the workshop, all the elves were making toys,
For the good gentile girls, and the good gentile boys,
When the Boss busted in; nearly scared 'em half to death,
Had a rifle in his hands, and cheap whiskey on his breath,
From his beard to his boots, he was covered in ammo,
Like a big, fat, drunk, disgruntled Yuletide Rambo,
And he smiled as he said, with a twinkle in his eye,
"Merry Christmas to all, now you're all gonna die!"
Well the workshop is gone now; he decided to bomb it,
Everywhere you'll find pieces of Cupid and Comet,
And he tied up his helpers, yes he held the elves hostage,
And he ground up poor Rudolph into reindeer sausage.
He got Dancer and Prancer with an old German Luger,
And he slashed up Dasher, just like Freddy Krueger,
And he picked up a flamethrower, and he barbequeued Blitzen,
And he took a big bite, said "It tastes just like chicken."
The night Santa went crazy, the night Chris Cringle went nuts,
Now you can't hardly walk around the North Pole, without stepping in reindeer guts.
There's the National Guard and the FBI,
There's a van from the Eyewitness news, and helicopters circling round in the sky,
And the bullets are flying, the body count's rising, and everyone's dying to know,
Oh, Santa, why?
You used to be such a jolly guy.
Yes, my friends now, well, Santa's doing time,
In a federal prison, for his infamous crime,
Hey listen here now, don't you cry no more tears,
He'll be out, with good behaviour, in seven hundred more years,
But now Vixen's in therapy,
And Donder's still nervous,
And the elves all got jobs working for the postal service,
And they say Mrs Claus, she's on the phone every night,
With a lawyer, negotiating the movie rights,
Lemme tell you 'bout..
- The Night Santa Went Crazy
My recommended Christmas download, I think.
16 MINUTES UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!

Man, I did something really evil tonight. I had a deer get hit in front of my house. Its laying right beside the road. At a show we were playing this past week they handed out red noses that blinked when you put them on.
So, I stick this red nose on the road kill and turn it so its facing traffic. Man, people were pulling over, taking pictures, it was funny as hell!
Wow. Santa is gonna be pissed at you, mate. :D

I still haven't heard anything by them. I went looking in stores (briefly, a couple of nights ago), but could only find one album of thiers. It wasn't one I'd heard of (i.e. it wasn't Christmas Eve..), and it was badly overpriced (£16.99), so I didn't bother.
Seriously? I got two for £15

So I was thinking.
You know how there are some things that you do and have been doing for a long time but didn't really get started seriously right when you began doing it?
/confusing
Like guitar. I started "playing" 5 years ago but didn't really start to practice and get better until like 2 years ago. Does anyone else do this? You have a revelation and all of a sudden one day think, "I want to get better" and then you try hard and practice and...get better?

Ive been playing drums for a while now. I dont go to the D&P forums because i get the same questions over and over again, and it gets boring, but i can help you out with anything you need to improve on. In fact i have a few people IMing me now on drums...mostly because of my articles in the Lessons section. But i might start posting lessons on a new website since the creator of it personally asked me to do it.
But i didnt get one drum related thing for x-mas, but alot of guitar stuff, including a Boss CS3 compressor/sustainer pedal. It sounds like **** on my little 10-watt amp but im getting a new one with all my money. Either a Behringer V-tone or a Vox valvetronox, but i dont know much about either, but im buying one very soon

Man...that's a really great album. I listened to it for the first time yesterday, thinking it might be a bit overhyped, but even based on two listens, I can see why everyone thinks it's so incredible. Especially for an album that long, it's just of such outstanding quality that it's untrue. Although Faap De Oiad (sp?) is a really disturbing song. Listening to it for the first time at 1:30 this morning probably wasn't the best idea, in hindsight.
