The book was good.

Jamie

We read the new version. They're the same arent they?

I didnt know piggy's death was slowed down? It just had the rock rolling down the cliff, then it showedd piggy for like half a second and he screamed, then that was it. (by the way, this was the old, black and white version we watched)

Bartender
12-21-2004, 03:29 PM
I saw that version. I, and several (read: all three) of my friends laughed out loud at that death.

shortass
12-21-2004, 03:29 PM
Oh right...the new version is the funniest thing I've ever seen!!!
There all American while they're meant to be British

When the rock hits Piggy it bounces off his head (could have atleast prtended it wasnt polysterene)

They're all meant to be eight but they swear loads "just **** off man we're moving to the otherside of the mother****ing island away from you assholes"

Jeremy might not even know, it's just a feature vBulletin came with, which he has now turned on.

well, if you were on an island with only your friends, wouldn't every second word you say be a swear word?
Freed from the restraints of society, what more could you do to abuse that power than by swearing?

Bartender
12-21-2004, 03:33 PM
Haha, I've seen that movie.

I didn't like the book either, really.

I hate the book, now. I might have liked it, were it not for a full year of analysing it endlessly in English. We watched the black and white version with the funny Piggy death, and the colour version with the glowsticks, where they're all American, as well as reading the book over and over, and going through various exercises about the book and films.

Luckily the other piece we did a lot of work on, the previous year of the two year course, was a really good play called The Long, the Short and the Tall. I really enjoyed that.

No... I feel no desire to swear when I'm in a level mood. It doesn't even enter my mind. Only when I'm mad.

Hey all. I had the worst night of my life, last night. The worst migraine I have had in ages struck me just as I left to pick up my girlfriend from work. I got my mum to drive me into town, apologised for my state, and dropped her off at home. Once I was home again, I proceeded to vomit up my toenails, and then try to sleep with my head on fire. By the time I got to sleep, it was 1 am, and I had to work at 8. Since my boss is a total prick, I couldn't call in sick, and as such ended up working 9 hours with my entire body crying out for rest the entire time. :upset:

He also told us that he was going back to Ediburgh to get his 'boys to kick the **** outta some guys in Bathgate because they'd chased him cause he fired a firework at them.

I think that's out of date though. I know Iai got a 3 day ban and still has 4 stars, so it's not that. And I got a 30 second temp ban about a month ago, and that didn't effect me at all...so yeah, I don't think anyone really knows what's happening, although it could be banning related I guess.

I believe that if you get banned after you already have recieved four stars, you retain the stars when the ban is up. The algorithms for programming star demotions are probably too complicated for any of the admins to really care. I got three because I was banned post-rep-system, pre-stars. I don't know, that's just what SK told me when I asked him what was up with my stars in Report Problems.

Well the Union Jack does represent the whole thing, but each bit also has their own individual flag. In fact, the Union Jack is made up by amalgamating the flags of the constituent parts.

I heard that before people starting automatically getting three stars due to bannings some people had them because DBJ selected them for some sort of private elite MX user group, which is why there's always confusion about three stars being an award from the mods or a punishment for being banned.

It's cool :) Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England are all seperate countries with seperate flags, and they all combine to make the Uk which has a flag itself which is kinda made out of the seperate countries flag. I don't know why they do this, unless they plan to makes us like devastator

Hahaha!

Well, it's just that my obsession with World War II automatically makes me think of the U.K. as Great Britain, and that in turn makes me forget about the various entities within the U.K. that have their own customs and state pride and stuff. I know that's paradoxical, because of course Britain still had individual divisions between Scotland, England, Wales, etc., but there you have it. I think about it as the whole country, which isn't really accurate.

Yes, as mm there says, it's kind of like The South is to the rest of America, or New Zealand is to Australia (especially so, with the sheep and everything). They also have strange fascinations with leeks and close harmony singing.

They also messed up the scheme of the Union Jack, by having a bloody great dragon in the middle of their flag. So they deserve plenty of stick.

It's the name of a small town in Wales, but it's famous for not fitting on the sign of the town's train stations. How is everyone today?

If you form a cult I'm in.

And I'm doing pretty good today. I feel kind of bad though because I just sat around all day.

Today's been alright. I went to see The Incredibles again, with different people, and bought myself The Complete Black Books on the way home. So I'm not dividing my time between that, and playing Spiderman 2.

I was thinking it could be a really necro, tr00 kvlt. Like the Brothers of the Dark Forest bathed in Virgin Blood. We can only have 5 members though, because otherwise we will be too well known.

Quit America, join a cult.

That was my retarded middle school statement that made me different. Now I look back on myself and know I would have hated that kid. The ones who are different for the sake of being different.

I just saw Lemony Snicket. A lot better than I thought it would be. Jim Carrey did an amazing job.

Yeah he is. I also saw him do stand up about how he's Canadian and trick foolish americans about sterotypes. It was pretty funny.

I didn't mind it as a movie but a lot of people seem to hate it death, and back, and back again but I can never see why

I generally hate Jim Carey but I'm willing to give him a chance in this movie. I read the books (My mom's a middle school librarian so I end up reading alot of kids books) and liked them.

I liked The Cable Guy. I never found any of it really annoying, just some of it is silly, in an amusing way.

Ace Ventura 2 > Ace Ventura 1

No, Drew Carey. He's a more TV oriented comedian. Short, fat, bald and thick glasses.

I know who Drew Carey is, I just thought you meant Jim Carey since you had just mentioned Ace Ventura.
