They don't even deserve to have the ability to give out rep, much less recieve it. I don't even waste my time there anymore.

I think Vai as a performer rocks, because he's ridiculously fun to watch, and he looks like he's having a blast. In that sense, he's really not song-oriented. It's all about flash and entertainment to him. Satriani is truly a far superior songwriter, but I still have a lot respect for any man that can swing the guitar by its whammy bar and then do an extremely ripping lick very very cleanly. And I think he shreds and wanks much more melodically than, say, George Lynch.

No. People here in R&M are pretty generally close minded. Mention a nu-metal band if you don't believe me. Some people like the music, and they get flamed for even liking it. The ones who say it is the most talented stuff ever, well, they deserve it, but the ones who just like it...no, kids here are pretty immature imo.

But yeah, that is the general conception in R&M. Of course, most of these people are justified in hating a lot of the trash calling itself metal these days, but some of it is quite good. It is just the whole concept of nu-metal is what most people find repugnant.

I hate when they try to pretend rap is some legitimate form of entertainment in school courses. It just makes my blood boil. They tried to make us learn a little bit about it in Gr. 9, but I asked the teacher if there would be anything about rap on the final exam. He said no, so I skipped those parts :D

Rap is the same as metal. All the popular stuff is garbage, and the underground is brilliant. They don't rap about their bling bling, or the big screen TVs in their pimped out H2s. They have very well written verses about society, politics, etc.

i don't listen to a lot of rap, but i do listen to certain amounts of 2pac and Bone thugs and some eminem. Those guys are brilliant lyricists, and while i do argue whether there is any musical talent involved in rap, i will say that these three artists have lyrical talent. It is just like any genre of music--there's stuff that's real, and stuff just made up to be popular or catchy(note: catchy does not mean bad, however).
