Fun, you should tape it and sell it back to them.
I missed Maiden when they were in Newcastle, then they announced their break from touring. Me = gutted.
Maiden are only doing festivals next year, I'm hoping they headline Reading instead of Download, as far as I know I might have exams when Download is on.
They're going to be playing all their old songs to support the new DVD, which should be great.

Yeah, you were asking about that yesterday. Good story, last night I was asleep by 3, it was glorious, but then at 4:30 the fire alarm went off! Like...40's-50's I don't know for certain but it wasn't that cold, I just wish I had had a shirt. The fire alarm went off because someone left the stove on or something in the kitchen, but took them forever to solve that problem... Meh, no backlash, I just think Tool is supremely overrated. I have all of their CDs, but it is nothing as superb as everyone here makes it out to be. I would rather listen to Pink Floyd any day. What a way to close an album too.

I actually don't have to be in til 2pm, but I'm motivated to go in earlier because;
1 - I have some preparation to do, and I'll do it better away from this computer.
2 - I have no food here, and I can get a cheap sandwich if I go in.

Well, this semester, my modules have been;
Introduction to ethics (lectures) - basic introduction to moral philosophy, so far looking at amoralists, virtue theorists, consequentialists and deontologists. What is right and wrong, why is it right and wrong, what should we do, etc.
Introduction to the philosophy of religion (lectures) - self-explanatory. So far we've looked at a couple of different attempted proofs of the existence of God, and the study of miracle; should we believe in them, why, why not, etc. If they do happen, are they a proof of God? Stuff like that.
Basic readings (small discussion group) - reading and analysis of important/well-known texts in history. So far we've looked at some Plato, David Hume, John Locke, and we're starting Nietzsche today.
Reason and argument (lectures) - how to identify, interpret, attempt to counter/give arguments. All about validity, soundness, truth value, circular arguments, premises, conclusions, predicate forms, statement forms, etc.

I've no idea. The main things a philosophy degree gives you, hopefully, are nothing to do with work, they're just personal.
Apart from teaching the subject or being an author on it, I don't think it leads into anything in particular. Very non-vocational. Booklets and things tell you that it leads to opportunities in management and journalism, but that's only because you wrote plenty of essays and had to organise your thoughts a lot, which almost any Arts degree will do.
I personally have no idea what I want to do with it. I just took it because I like the subject.

Stars are nice recognition wise though. Some people like Medopalis get recognition for the work they do besides just being a good user. I like to think I am a good user and people tell me that I am usually. I also am starting to help with the running of S&L (my home forum) and am trying hard to improve it and make it a better place. So it is nice to have stars to sort of show that you are a good user and get recognition for that.

That's pretty true, but it's annoying when people don't sign off or write a comment. Repping should be like writers' workshopping: each meaningful post is sort of like a composition and should be critiqued as such, instead of signed off with no real comments.
Also, I've gotten a couple of positive reps that for some reason, don't feel so positive in the commentary...like I got repped "for being funny" today, and no one signed it...don't know if they meant I was being stupid and so I was therefore funny, because the post I got it for said a pretty silly thing...

Yes, that'll be cool. But that only means the movie got made...that doesn't mean it was good. I'm still the American version of "Godzilla" in the heirarchy, not "The Pianist."
BTW, why then do I see no one- or two-star members? Is it just that by the time noobs start posting meaningfully they have over a thousand posts and go all the way to four, and ppl with high reps but low post count are rarer and are the ones that get one or two?

Yeah, Paranoidd repped me for a post about Yngwie. I don't really like it when people rep me for memoaning my low post count...I'm not really the type to beg for that sort of thing. I would like to see some reps for the stuff that I've posted recently in the Politics forum, for instance...those are crafted, as opposed to being some one-off thing someone found entertaining.
