How long til the results start coming in?

A thought just occurred to me; when I started University, I had the fleeting thought "Ah well. No more attractive teachers." Not that many of my teachers were particularly attractive anyway, but I figured, Philosophy at University; lecturers likely to be old men, stroking beards, talking about other old men who stroked their beards whilst thinking profound things. Right?
By a quirk, though, one of my lecturers, Dr Carlisle, is an absolute genius. I wouldn't place her at older than 24/25, yet she's done her degree, her Master's and her phD, at Cambridge no less, in that time. And she's not inconsiderably attractive.
I'm not complaining, just thought it funny that I was proved so horribly wrong.

Well, it looks like Im in the minority here. I voted for Bush. I just don't trust Kerry. I also don't feel that Edwards has what it takes to run the country if something happened to Kerry. I think the major downfall of the Democratic party was having Edwards run with Kerry.
As for the people who watched Farenheit 911 and thinks that everything in that is true, thats just sad that you would let an obviously biased glorified attack ad influence you that way. I would hate to think that I was such a person to let Micheal Moore influence any decision I made.
I believe Kerry would have won the election if he would have picked a better running mate and didn't flip flop and pander so much during the election. Its basically picking the best of 2 wrong answers.....

Well, like I said, it was a decision based on picking the right answer from all the wrong answers. The democratic party is in trouble if Edwards is the best they had to choose from. He is basically a new politician the grand scheme of things, I and it looks like the majority of the country, just didnt think he could be trusted to run the country in the event something happened to Kerry.
I really think Kerry would have won this by a land slide if he would not have flip flopped and pandered so much. You just couldn't figure out which way he was going as he changed his point of view to whomever he was speaking to.
I really think Micheal Moores movie hurt him really bad. While I won't comment on Moore everyone who based thier vote on this movie should watch Farenhype, I think your eyes will be opened as to what kind of person Moore is.
Anyway, in better news we are auditioning guitar players tonight! I hope we get this nightmare fixed and someone chose in the next week or so and get to work. Man, whoever is chosen is set up to make some INSANE cash just in the shows we have booked in December.

Meh Gephardt would not cut it IMO, he just gave up after the very first caucus(sp?), doesnt seemed too determined at all. Also most of his labor union supporters were supporting Kerry and Dean instead of him, leaving him weaker in support.

There has been a bill floating around that will allow foreigners to run after living in the US for a certain number of years
Really? It'll never pass. We never pass anything unless its extremely narrow-minded, like the gay marriage amendments to state constitutions. Too many die-hard christians to let that not pass..I think of it as a kind of persecution, but hey..no one in the government cares what I think, though thats what they're elected to do.

I'd move to Canada. The United States might be on the verge of civil war and we are just oblivious to that. Its still unclear if John Titor was right. But its looking like he wasn't..Can still hope though!
Do you think Kerry should run again in 2008? Or would you rather see someone else run?
Two words: Barack Obama. That guy is the most charismatic, non-divisive, common-sense democrat out there, and is a rising star within the party.
Anyway, after spending the day feeling really really dejected, I've come to the simple conclusion that the Democrats really are, for all my hopes, horrible flip-floppers and are very emaciated as a party, and as a result we are in huge huge trouble. I mean, if Bush can't lose either vote after all the **** that's gone down on his watch, it means the second party is dangerously weak. Just in terms of a democratic balance of power, it is imperative that the Democratic party stop being the "Demographic" party and quit pandering to every possible base. If Kerry stuck by a few opinions and projected some of the same steadfastness as Bush, the choice would have been clear and Kerry would have swept the nation. Our country is based on a two-party system, Nader be ****ed. That's the way it is and that is how it always will be. And if the Democrats are so, so weak that they cannot defeat the incompetent incumbent, then that not only means we are in huge trouble party-wise, we are in serious trouble power-wise. The Republicans have a returning President with no more elections to lose, and majorities in the House and Senate. That's a ****ing scary thought, let me tell you.

Have you looked at the purchasing power of the dollar recently? The American dollar is dropping like a stone, and the Euro is doing great, as are the pound and other dollars. If by most you mean third-world countries, then yes, true.

Yes. I'll agree with that as much as someone who is partially informed can. I'd really like to see Nader get a major party nomination, I really think the poor dude deserves it. If he somehow got the Democratic party nomination in 2008 I'd vote Nader. If Kerry runs in 2008 I'll vote for him. In 2008 I'll actually be able to, but somehow I doubt he will run again. Next election I will be more informed, or will try to be. Ripper, have you heard of John Titor, or do you not know what I mean when I'm talking about that?

Plus we have all our own gear, PA, effect racks, light shows, 25K drum kit, tandem axle trailer to move stuff, killer studio to practice in, sound engineer, light and effect engineer and an equipment/drum tech..

Mine is stress related.
I've had two sets of x-rays and ultrasounds, and gone through different types of medication (Nexium, Losec (which my father took when he had stomach cancer) and pantoloc). Basically, any time I get upset, I get excruciating pain in my stomach, or I vomit, and I'll get diarrhea. Fun.
Pretty much anything I eat hurts, and I had to cut down on my booze considerably (I pretty much used to be an alcoholic).
Basically, I've been told there is nothing further I can do, except for medication that is so strong, it will make me grow breasts. I'm not too much into that idea.
In short, I'm screwed. My honest prediction is that I will die within the next 10 years. Not that I really want to, but that's just the logical progression I see. I'm 21, and I've had this thing for two years, and it keeps getting worse.

Or keep an eye out at Yard Sales for stupid people selling it for cheap.
Dancin' Man
11-05-2004, 08:20 PM
Yeah. Some book stores and music stores do that. It's one of those things though that cannot be found online for cheap because anyone who knows anything about Tool will sell it for a minimum of $75. Sometimes that without the DVD. I have trouble deciding if I'd burn everything then resell it for more of just keep it.

Concerts come here, since I am near Phoenix, but I have no car, and can't usually go because of transportation issues :(
FF, you are in Ithaca, right?

Doesn't he? I though he had that in his profile or something? Either way it's a really pretty campus, I loved that gorge, and driving around there and such. Too bad they paid for me to come and visit, but not attend :(

Oh well. It is a nice place but the weather.... takes some getting used to. The gorges are crazy. Maybe that's how they came up with Ithaca is Gorges.....

Haha, I didn't know that...that's pretty neat. Weather here takes getting used to. I moved from Colorado to Arizona...it's not cold enough and there's no snow :(
Those gorges were awesome though, very pretty area, reminded me of the mountains...

The mountains.....except with no height.
I have a friend going to some college with Arizona in the name (Az State or UofA) on a golf scholarship. That means they give him free stuff. Arizona = hot girls. Ithaca = Hippies.

I won't deny it, Az has some hot girls here. I go to ASU, on a national merit scholarship, they give me money, which is sort of like free stuff, but better :p
Ithaca sounds like Boulder than, which is where I might have otherwise gone...Boulder is a major hippie twon haha. You aren't in college though right?

bahahahaha. I actually did the hard part of junior year last year. I'm a year ahead in most classes so that means 2 art classes and no language. Optional math. Oh yes. I laugh at my peers. Get ahead to get out early. NY sucks though. We have the Regents.

Yeah, most kids who get ahead do it and get good grades. I get the same grades as the people who are right on course. I sort of defeat the purpose of moving kids ahead.

If you want to take it slow, ease in with Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, and newer Immortal.
Or, jump right to the classics. Emperor/In the Nightside Eclipse, Mayhem/Live in Leipzig, Darkthrone/A Blaze in the Northern Sky... etc.

Don't listen CoF it will put you off Black Metal. Dimmu Borgir are good though.

I have heard Dimmu and Cradle before, so I'll probably check out Emperor or Darkthrone
Bartender
11-06-2004, 12:50 AM
I'd say avoid Cradle and Dimmu altogether, as they don't give too much of an idea of how good black metal can be.
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter and Burzum - Aske/Burzum are, I would say, excellent albums which are good at leading people unfamiliar with the genre into it.
You might be best off just downloading some stuff by various artists though, and figuring out where to go from that.

That is one awesome dagger in that movie. Go with it, or A Fish Called Wanda.

Yup, I'm a fan of Monty Python. I have Quest For the Holy Grail on DVD somewhere, but I can't find it :(
One of my flatmates is a fan of a lot of the things I'm a fan of, so we spend quite a lot of time quoting various movies at each other. Monty Python comes up a lot.
