Overall Review:
It's hard to find a band in bluegrass music that doesn't have some sort of talent when it comes to pickin a banjo or playing a fiddle; it's hard to find a bluegrass band that doesn't have one or two blindingly fast songs and one or two agonizingly slow songs; it's hard to find a bluegrass band that doesn't mention catfish in at least one song. Old Crow Medicine Show is no exception here. What is hard to find in bluegrass music is a band that almost anyone can get into, and that's where OCMS stands alone.

I haven't stopped listening to this CD since I saw OCMS on Conan O'Brian and ran out and picked it up, but to be completely honest, I'm not sure what to think of them. All of the songs on the CD are wonderful- an honest rendition of folk music, but therein lies the problem- they're not. Many of the songs simply don't sound right coming from a 21st century rocker. It's incredibly awkward to hear him singing about working land and having nine children; I almost put the cd down because of it- almost. There's definatly something charming about the album.

If you're into Country/Folk, this is right up your alley. It's catchy, it's sad at times, it's happy at times, and overall, it's a good cd. And if you're a little unsure, go down to your local music store and give it a listen- you might like what you hear.

DL Worthy Tracks:

Big Time in the Jungle: The story of a young man that went from catchin' catfish to fighting in Vietnam "for an idea he didn't even know about." This is one of the better songs off of the album. It's upbeat, but it's a sad look at war and patriotism and all that.

Wagon Wheel: Based around the chorus of a Bob Dylan song, this is without a doubt the best song of the album. In fact, it's probably one of the best songs in Country/Folk right now. I'd expect it on CMT soon. If you're a fan of country music, this should be on your playlist. Go download it now if it's not.

7/10 (Average)
I like it, but it's not going to be up everyone's alley, and some of the lyrical content is a tad out of place.

I'm honestly surprised two people on here have listened to (and liked) it.
