Look, before i start reviewing this cd, i want to let people know that this isnt a forum for people to come in here and say how bad the artist is, im not sayin that i like the music, i just got really (really) bored and and i dont like it when people just come in here and badmouth just because of the person. This took alot of guts, that obviously nobody had because this cd isnt up, only her new one. Anywho here it goes....
Losing Grip: Probably one of the better songs on the whole album. The vocals are ok, but nothing special or spectacular. I also should add that this song, like many, seems to get old after only a few listens. 3.5/5
Complicated:The first single out of Avril which made her an immediate success. Again its a decent song, but nothing special to get all worked up about like some people made it out to be. This song like i said, will get old after awhile. 3.5/5
Sk8er Boi: Oh crap where do i start. The 2nd single out, which should have been kept in. This song is absolutley, positively, by far the most annoying, and highly over-rated song by Avril Lavigne. The song is dumb and has no moral value what so ever, not that any of the others do, but this one doesnt even come close. Basically shes telling girls that they should go with the guy and hope some day that he'll be rich so they wont think theyve made the wrong mistake later. The guitars suck (more than they usually do), its the same thing being played over and over again. I cant think of any other words to describe it other than "I HATE IT". 0.5/5
Im with you: The last single off the cd, but an ok song. Its more of a slow song than anything. I think she was trying to change pace and be more serious, but it failed, like many other things on this cd (hmm, could this be foreshadowing?) The other problem i have is that its repetitive. Id give it a 3/5
Mobile: A guitar intro thats half-way almost seemingly decent begins the song. Then she sings of leaving some place and being alone. It seems to me that she shouldnt have left the place in the first place if she didnt want to be alone. I dont get it. The other bad thing is that its a little over 3 1/2 minutes long. 3 1/2 minutes of more repetition. 2.5/5
Unwanted: A weird intro leads into a guitar riff, seemingly trying to sound a little harder than its meant to be. I think this song tried once again to change up the pace, but once again, another song failed. 2/5
Tomorrow: An acoustic song. Way softer than the last song. She goes into more of a poppish sound on this one, but its ok. Basically, shortening up the words, this to me is probably the best song on the album. 4/5
Anything but ordinary: A sorry guitar intro starts it off, then goes to an acoustic. Personally i think it had a very boring, annoying, repetitive chorus. Gee, sure sounds alot like the other songs doesnt it? 2/5
Things ill never say: Opens with an acoustic guitar. The same 'avril' type sound to it, nothing special here. I also found something kinda funny in the chorus. When avril begins she says "I can say what i wanna say", then it goes to the real thinker, "I wanna blow you.......away" The pause between the two words seems to long and makes me uncertain of what shes trying to say, does this song have a double meaning. Hmmmm, guess we'll never know. 2/5
My world: Another acoustic beginning. More of a pop sound to it. The lyrics arent that great either. Ill tell you the truth, i was ready to turn it within the first minute. a solid and proud 1.5/5
Nobodys Fool: Oh my god and electric guitar beginning, wait a minute, theres an acoustic behind it. I knew it was too good to be true. Could anything else be worse than this. Wait a minute, it could. Avril rapping, am i hearing this right, eesh, this my friends was not meant to be. Once youve heard the rapping you dont want to listen to it anymore. But incase you make it past it and think itll get better, well i have a surprise, it doesnt. This is way down there with the infamous 'Sk8er Boi'. 1/5
Too much to ask: An acoustic and electric intro, nothing special nor different. Boring chorus and verses. I have nothing more to say. 1.5/5
Naked: Odd track name. It had a wierd intro and then comes the good ol' acoustic guitar. Its an alright song, but nothing to get all excited about. The verses are much better than the chorus. I think the chorus sucks personally. Bottom line id give it a 2.5/5
Key Tracks (boy this was hard)
7. Tomorrow
1. Losing Grip (no particular order)
2. Complicated
This cd is ok the first week you buy it, but after that you lose interest pretty quick. Many people have said that her old cd is much better than her new. Personally i think theyre full of crap. The new cd is much, much better than this. I would recommend you buy the new before the old, i think youll be much happier.
The whole cd rating: 2.5/5. It trys to go punk at times, and then itll go pop, then goes rap, the one thing she should have stayed away from. I dont think it was worth all the hype people were making it out to be, not even close. Id have to say burn it, dont buy it.
