The whole album rocks. Amazing. If you haven't gotten it yet, or if you have any doubts about the band whatsoever, pick this one up.

"Because of the way we breathe we see things in terms of good and evil, but in fact there is no such thing as polarity. Everything actually has three compnents -the holy trinity- and no matter what polarity you think of there will always be a third element to it; for example, with hot and cold, there is warm, up and down gives you middle, etc. From higher dimensional levels of existence polarity is just an illusion. Unity is all there is; there is just one God and one spirit that moves through everything. All that ever occurs is occurring because of the one God.

On our level of existence we interpret things differently. We think we see good and evil. What is really going on however, is timing. The forces of polarity are necessary for the proper functioning of the universe. Remember, the dark forces do everything they can to hinder a particular area of conciousness, be it on a planetary or individual scale. The light forces do everything they can to encourage consciousness expansion and awareness. This opposition consciousness to move upward at exactly the right pace. In the birth of a child, for example, nine months is the proper time, not three months or fifteen months. the forces of Polarity cause the child to be born at exactly the right time.

So given where we are, we need to see good and evil and be aware of them, but we also need to recognize that the presence of God is in every situation and that there is a reason for everything that happens. We need to see that everything is whole and complete and perfect and that there is nothing wrong no matter how bad or good it may seem. We need to see that life engenders a deep conscious aspect that is everywhere.

In our state we tend to think that we live inside this body, that everything "out there" is seperate from us, and that our feelings and thoughts don't manifest beyond ourselves. We think we can hide our thoughts and feelings and they have no impact "out there." This is simply not true. Everything that we think, feel, and do is creating our whole world all the way out to the most distant stars. We are creating everything in every moment, more so than we could ever imagine."

-"Nothing In This Book Is True, But It's Exactly The Way Things Are by Bob Frissell

Ghost Reveries is very eclectic, but the heavier songs aren't as good as the ones from BWP/Still Life. I'd say that, overall, it's a better album than Deliverance, though.

Actually, could you do me a quick favor?

For my anthropology class, I'm writing a term paper on the paradoxical aspects of French structuralism and dualities, and that particular passages would be an excellent example of a counter-claim. If you could tell me the page(s) that the quote you typed up appears on, as well as the bibliographical information, (publisher, location, date of publication,) I would be incredibly appreciative.

I just got back from a local show. It was pretty cool. This band (Running From Famous Bloodlines) are a Florida local here, and they are seriously great. The bands there were basically Indie/Emo/etc.., but these guys had a great mix of Hardcore, Metal, and even some other crap. They have 2 singers(Like 3 Inches of Blood). One clean, one scream. Here's their songless Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/runningfromfamousbloodlines

Some indie band Look Mexico was also there, and they were suprisingly good.

Okay, now that's pretty intriguing. Is that really Maynard, or just someone who uses the name Maynard? If it's really him, what's the deal with the location saying: "01.03.06"? Fans of any band tend to suck. Super underground artists have fans that are generally elitests, and bigger bands have the whole fanboy/groupy thing going on. I've never met a real life Tool fan that I could actually talk to about anything, and generally they're annoying.

And I personally just don't like Slipknot, if only because of their lyrics, which arn't really that big of a deal normally, but I just can't stand theirs.

Yeah, it went like this. Maynard says the album is coming out early next year. Adam says he didn't know the release date. Artwork is in preproduction. A new video is in preproduction. A lot of dumb questions were asked. We found out that Maynard flushes twice after he takes a dump. Someone asked a question about someone's favorite hot pocket flavor and Adam replied with "pus sy flavored". Probably some important stuff and some irrelevant stuff im forgetting.

Depression

It's a proven fact that depression is the leading cause of wearing ironic and trendy t-shirts. Everybody is forced to deal with this crippling condition, whether they suffer from it personally or it affects a loved one. It can damage personal relationships, and cause major stress on one's body due to the psychosomatic symptoms associated with writing poetry and listening to Tool or Radiohead. It can also lead to the creation of horrible artwork. In fact, all forms of bad art are derived from individuals who are suffering from depression and spread their pain to others. In the medical community, we call this "The Van Gogh Shift".

Sweet another SA fan :)

I'm sure he will not deviate from that prediction because it's pretty clear that he's made up his mind beforehand. It's a little thing called "prejudice," or literally pre-judging something or someone.

I wouldn't judge the album based on the first single, either. Although I would like to hear it as much as anyone, I don't think it will be a concrete indication of the album as a whole, regardless of how good it is.

its ironic how emokids listen to non-emo bands, and emo wannabies listen to emo
Yeah, I'd say I'm a little bit emotional :/
Just lately though, because I have been a bit depressed for no reason. But I don't look like it really. At all.

And I definitely don't listen to "emo bands" :p

Yeah, I was just saying how atleast the first single can give us some sort of idea of what the album is like. Ya know? I hate when people pre-judge an album. You know, the classic "it's not as good as their first album" or something to that extent. Most people who say that just want it to be that way before hand. You know what I mean? I'm sure he didn't really mean it that way, but that is what it came off as.

I'm not exactly sure, but I do know that they finished recording in late January, and released Lateralus in May. I really hope that it doesn't take five months beyond recording to release this album. Especially considering that they aren't even finished recording yet (per Adam's posts during the chat).

YouGottaBeCrazy
10-27-2005, 07:10 PM
They spent about a year writing the album. I don't know how long it took them to record it. Or maybe it took a year to write and record, but I seriously doubt that.

SA accounts are ten bucks, payable by credit card. And you'd better read the rules, as well as the Leper's Colony (list of banned users and why) so you can get the idea of what NOT to do.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/banlist.php <-- you can read this without having to pay, but not all of the links to the posts that got people banned will be available.

I love how some users have gotten banned , then payed for a new account, and then ended up getting banned again..

Apparently the reason it has taken so long for the new record to come out is that they recorded a fake album and let it leak, or at least that's what my friend is trying to convince me of. I don't belive him, but just thought I'd get it out in the open, see if anyone has heard about it.
