98 Rock has been doing request for the hurricane donations, and "Lateralus" was played. That was cool. It was even cooler, because it was on the ride home from seeing Mudvayne/Shadows Fall/In Flames/Trivium. :D

That was good.

I really love In Flames. They're just undeniabley talented. I also really like Shadows Fall. Trivium, I'm not really fans of them. Mudvayne, I do like. I wouldn'e neccasarily call them "talented"(well, the bassist sure is). They kinda just stem from my days of likeing Nu Metal. Their first record still pwns IMO.

So for me, it something like:
In Flames>>Shadows Fall>>>>>>>>>>>>Mudvayne>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Trivium

Don't get me wrong though. I think Trivium are really talented. I could get into them. And I still love Mudvayne.

Oh yeah, Jannus Landing = Best concert venue ever!

Dried Muffin Remnants

Atmospheric concert: Tool/Isis/Opeth/Meshuggah/Massive Attack

Upbeat concert: SOAD/Primus/The Mars Volta(can apply to both)

These would be my ideal concerts. I know that Tool and Radiohead are too big to open for one another...however, if that weren't the case - I'd definitely have Radiohead in my atmospheric concert.

Knifeboy
09-04-2005, 06:24 PM
Most of Mudvayne's music is kind of boring, they have a few great songs though.. And imo, bar the guitarist, all of the members are reasonably talented...

In Flames aren't writing good songs anymore, but from what I've gathered, they absolutely kick live.. and next time I get thechance, I'm definately going to see them.

Dude3
09-04-2005, 06:29 PM
Yeah, old In Flames is the good stuff. And they are amazing live! Huge stage presence.

Even though most of you may not like them, Shadows Fall are great onstage. This was my second time seeing them, and it was incredible(for anyone that cares, they played "The Light that Blinds"). They're right up there with In Flames on concerts. I also think they are really talented. Them and Lamb of God are the only "NWOAHM" bands I like, bar Mastodon and some Killswitch if they both count.

Mudvayne, I can understand if you don't like them. I think they're first album is brilliant. The bassist is just amazing. Guitarist is boring. Drummer can be good. The singer has a good sound, but not the best use of it live. Its much better in the recordings. They put on a good show too, but Shadows Fall and In Flames surpass them by far.

That's wierd, everything corresponds pretty accurately in the Bible so what Jesus taught was **** near the same thing the Bible does.

I don't believe in anything supernatural/paranormal, whatever you call it, for one simple reason:

People offer a million dollars also for any proof of Evolution. The only difference between the tests is, that usually a normal Christian, or any type of person with supernatural beliefs doesn't try to prove their case like an atheist does.

I wasn't saying anything against anyones beliefs... But if someone can astral project, that means they can look at something without using their eyes, wich means they could get a million dollars and feed the poor.. Give me one good reason they shouldn't do that.

The God in the Old Testament was angry a lot. Probably because someone told him the new Tool album was coming out soon, but than said they were just kidding.

Jesus turned over tables in a temple because people were selling things in a church. He showed anger and that's close enough for me.

Yes, you are correct. Even if someone is an athiest, I think they can admit that a lot of the things the New Testament teaches are very good. It's good to be kind to people and to show forgiveness. I'm not really too religious, but I try to be a nice person, and I could be considered more Christian than other people that always claim they are Christian, but are actually racist and very violent, and just downright horrible people.

On a completely different note, does anyone know where I can find Blair's 3 Ijynx poems? "Sun's Black Majesty", "Enhaloing the Lamanaut" and "Ophiuchus."

Being nice does not equal being a Christian. If they believe in having a working relationship with God and you don't then they are more Christian than you.

Many Christians are horrible, or hypocritical people, the same as any other group, religious or otherwise.

Fact is though, just because someone agrees with some things the new testament preaches dosn't mean they will agree with it, as they don't believe in the core aspect of the religion (Which isn't being a good person, it's believing in God).

Hello!

Yeah, I'm Agnostic(leaning towards the Atheist side), but Christianity does have many great morals, in my opinion. I disagree with some of them, but for the most part, it teached very good things.

Eww, I'm getting a haircut today. Its kinda weird. I've been wanting to get a haircut for about a week now. I thought it was too long and annoying, and possibly looked bad. Now today, the day I'm planning on getting a haircut, I think it looks sexy.

as i read all your posts i think you are making some mistakes: the old testament doesn't mention jesus! in short: the old testament begins with the creation of the world; and the new testament begins with the birth of jesus.
don't make this mistake again.
edit: and as i can "remember" the old testament already existed before jesus... so the old testament is older than 2005 9months and 5 days old.

I should read the bible. I'm not religious at all, but I should open up that door, or at least make myself more knowledgable. Although, I suck at reading. It kinda hard to explain.

I'm always interested in a book. At the moment, its Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I'll get to reading it, and I'll enjoy myself. But once I put the book down, I'll lose interest somewhat, and will almost never pick up the book again. I'm not sure why. I just give up to easily on some things. I'm more of a movie guy. Hell, I usually fake all my book reports. If my teachers notice, I always pick books that have movies for book reports. Last year, I did A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Lord of the Flies, and The Outsiders(two of those we read in class anyway).

Yeah. But it seems to be important to me....
What's the newbies gonna think when they see a crappy name attached to the Tool Thread. We need a new name. it never had to be this big of a deal. But turned out it was, but we still don't have our name.

I vote (-)Tool. Let's hope someone does something about the name...

We should change it to the Pop Punk Tool Thread.

Or the Alt/Indie Tool thread. It'll get people's attention

On a side note, im seeing Opeth on thursday, anyone already seen them and can give me set list ideas?

Poor Cuba  . South Afirca like went on stand still when Avril Livigne came for 2 shows! Now Westlife is here and the same old effect is starting again...oh my life.

I was lucky, when I came to England in December 2004, I saw Muse. That really was like a wish come true. But go and see Opeth(twice), and don't feel bad at all. :)

Singing > Growling.

I honestly think growing can spoil songs quite a lot, though I still really like Opeth because they use the growls well a lot of the time.

Some vague, yet somehow very sharp connections there. Nice job.

Double disc, though? That would be pretty sweet. No doubt there'd be an overload of people who'll cry "overbloated" and "self-indulgent" at the very site of it, though.

There's more clean singing on GR than there is growling isn't there? I love the growling parts, because they add more intensity and evilness to the music. His clean voice, though, is just so haunting.
