It makes no less sense than the actual title of the song.
But I like that idea as a thread title.

I'm sorry, but I am very sick of people worshipping Tool. They play in odd time signatures that simply have nothing to do with the sacred Geometry they supposedly espouse. All my recorded material is based on mathmatical structures that have proven themselves through eons.
Their supposed use of art as a communcation of the collective unconcious is simply elementary rambling. Freud would spit on them given the opportunity.
And since they seem to have the proverbial tit of Freud in their mouths, thats an insult.
On a more basic level, their grasp of modality is, quite frankly, lacking. They rely on the standards set forth by musicians from hundreds of years ago. By that i mean, the concept of a 12 tone music system. It is insulting that they continue to push the tradition that music comprises only these notes, indian music for example, has many many more possibilites for melodic invention. To say that they are truly on the forefront of music, is, with all due respect, disheartening.

You're grasp of Tool is lacking since they mostly play in the mode of D Dorian.
Also there are only twleve tones in all of music. Sure, you can say a pitch between the notes could be used but nobody has done that for about 800 years. Modes use just as many tones as any other scale and Indian style music so you should probably shut your mouth.

my favorite band right now is ars gratia artis. they are progressive "rock" that has little to do with rock other than that they have the usual rock setup, with the inclusion of several drum machines and synth players as well an ondes martenot player.

Maynard wrote the lyrics to Lateralus in the Fibonacci sequence, but the song is in 12/8 time, which really has not a whole to do with sacred geomotry. Also, Danny Carey's drum pattern also somehow progresses along with this pattern, but I'm not a drummer, so I have no clue how to dissect his drumming. :shrug:

I then put Die Eier Von Satan on, and at the end, when Maynard whispers "und kiene eier" in that extremely devilish voice, we both just looked at each other for a couple seconds and then just burst out laughing.
Kage, since you're in AP German, could you translate all of Die Eier? :-D

Uhm, not all of it, because the words used are very...well, let's just say they're words that you'd really need to be immersed in a situation where you spoke German all the time to know the words. Stuff like "tablespoon" and "salt." My vocabulary is my weakest part of German, but I'm very good at the grammar and technical aspects of it.
By the way, it's "keine," not "kiene." :p

Half a cup of powdered sugar

One knifetip Turkish hash

5. The verses are repeated, pretty much the same.
6. The heavy part is repeated for the second chorus (again, the stuff in 9/8, 8/8. 7/8). This time, the third repetition has a guitar solo instead of Maynard's lyrics.
7. The solo continues with a secondary part in 3/4.
8. After Justin's repeated bassline, Adam's guitar part from the first minute-and-a-half is again repeated. However, Danny does something incredibly cool by playing a beat in 5/4 over Adam and Justin's 4/4 parts. This gives it a very different, slightly confusing sound.
9. The song finishes with the big end stuff in 6/8.
Ta-da. So all in all, at different points, the song Lateralus is in 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/8, 7/8, 8/8, and 9/8.

On a side-note: Last night I saw Trivium/In Flames/Shadows Fall/Mudvayne on an Ozzfest off-date. It was at Jannus Landing(THE best venue ever) in St.Petersburg(Florida). All the bands were amazing live.

To whoever knows German- How do you say "new" in German? I think, for at least the next six months or so, we should have "und keine <new> Tool." Then we could change it when the new album comes out, and have the new name have something to do with the new Dualdisc album. :cool:

Although, in context of "und keine <new> Tool," it would be "Und Keine Neue Tool"

That's true...and I've learned a lot about English in the process of learning German, actually. Because a lot of the grammar rules in English come from German, and I've been able to make connections about the actual technicalities in English that, before, I just knew sounded right.

well, i don't know what my first language is: i was born in poland, so i can speak fluent polish. with 5yrs we emigrated to austria and i started to speak german (fluent); with 8-10 everybody at school has to learn english (not fluent :lol: ); from 15-18 i had latin (i hated it - i forgot everything), and i want to learn french (fluent) someday.
in fact, i'm able to speak german better than polish, though its my motherlanguage! why? cause i never went to school in poland... the only 'contact' with this language is through my parents and my grandparents + family i'm visiting 2x a year for only 1week. so my polish is a very simple and easy one.

What I meant is, due to this being a pretty small town, I tend to recognise a fair few people my age, and i've not known many of them to even show an interest in that style of music, let alone tool. All it took was me wearing a shirt for them to voice their praises.
Although i've never been, I still know that in the US, Tool are 10x bigger than here, although I can see the new album changing that

Agreed Knifeboy, I got my friend into PT by showing him Wedding Nails under the excuse it was a Slayer song, cause all he listens to is RATM, Pantera and some Trash.Then he said what an awesome riff.And then I said HA HA You're hooked buddy.That's not Slayer, it's band called PT.They're awesome.I caught him singing the melody later on.HAHAHAHA.

About three people at my year at school listened to Tool, including me. They're not popular where I live at all as far as I can tell. I'll have to try wearing my Tool t-shirt out places.

I've done that recently with my mix CD I make my friends now and then, along with some of DT heavier songs. Im hoping I can convert them in time for getting tickets to their shows

I love water..it's soothing.
I don't drink because there's alcoholism on both sides of my family, and I hate the taste. Plus, most people I know who drink become belligerent fools, and just do it to gain friends.
Also, I belive in purity of the body. No substances that could **** it up.

This is because you are 15. Getting drunk becomes just sociable and sort of a game when your older. You can't seem to be skimping on the beers, but if you get wasted then you get mocked about it for ages after. It's good fun.
