smashing pumpkins are definitely awesome.
anybody got any ideas about what blairs talking about? maybe its a secret message...??
Maybe its as simple as: everyone wants to know some stuff about the recording process, so he did tell us some things about it. what they eat for lunch.
Who else in here thinks that "The Grudge" is a great song? After listening to it today I finally realized how great it is.

The symbol in the middle is the geometric form of Merkaba.
As far as the symbols surrounding (e.i. the pentigon facing up and down) could symbolize the penticle meaning balance of life. Facing up the male version, and facing down the female version.
As far as the surrounding geometric shapes of that, I have no idea. But then with TOOL it could mean something to them, in turn makes more sense than the later lol
Quote:
This Lateralus code crap seems bogus.
Hey DJ,
Dude, I don't mean to sh*t on your parade or anything, (and I know I'm still a noob) but everything I have seen you post on this thread thus far is of nothing productive.
If you're not insulting something or saying that something is "gay", you really have nothing to say. I just think that the TOOL thread is something completely opposite of that. I'm not here to flame on you or anything, but come on. It just kills the feeling of the thread, I think.
Opinions are cool. It's what makes us us. But if an opinion isn't productive, then it becomes a rant. And no one likes crying.
Just a thought.

Here's one far out idea.
Sausages = songs.
Joe = some guy who'll guest appear on one track. Either with vocals or guitar.
Re-read it thinking like that.

The sausages could easily be tracks that have been mixed and stuff and are ready to be put on cd, or any other wild variety of things.

Sup guys? Any new news on Tool?
Man, Bill Hicks is great. I just rented his dvd off of Netflix. I can't wait. Also, if you don't have Netflix, get it. It has everything. Its such a great deal.
Sidenote: I was browsing through Myspace, and I found my old science teacher's(he may be teaching my grade this year too) profile. Its great. He changed his name to some very corny name, so he wouldn't get noticed. And he made a few sexual jokes on there. I find it funny that he actually has a life. And if you're wondering what this has to do with Tool, uh, he likes them.

Thats a killer deal on Simmons pads. I use Roland PD-9's and I bought my used for about 100 bucks a piece. Carey does use a MC505 among other things. The MC505 has been replaced by the MC909. I use a Roland SPD-S instead as I can create just about any sound since I have a laptop integrated into my kit.
Electronics built into a acoustic drum set is KILLER! It adds so much and takes away just about any limitation you can think of.

I tried some amazing rolands at my drum shop the other day. These things already had a Tabla setup loaded in. That alone opens up the possibility of mimicking some D.C. sounds. (or should I say A.D.)

You have some riffs wrong, well, from the way I play it atleast. Like the second riff, is a F instead of the C you are playing. So it's "D,E(f),D,D(higher),D,E(f),D,F"
And (f) means flat. And E(f) is the first fret in drop D.
I mean, I might be wrong, but I jam to it all the time, and it sounds fine when I play it that way. Besides that though, great job.

hey jake. nice job there, there are a couple things i want to point out. The other poster was right. you're playing that one riff wrong. it goes to D# (6th string 1st fret) instead of C.
when playing the open D riff (wear the grudge) you are muting the string after you hit it. Adam only mutes at a certain spot. The other notes need to ring out.
after the first verse that riff (humbled again) the notes do not ring out together, don't play them like chords.
at the heavy part it should be played like this
e|----------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------------------------------|
D|-12-----10----10----3--5p0---12-----10----10---3-5p0----|

Lets see though. Im still trying to figure out how to do it though. It was going to be 'song 1 v song 2', but that would take aaaaaages.
So maybe go by album.

Maybe the 3 best songs from each album and then w/e the heck comes out of there. Were wed do the polls?
We should requiere that all songs be heard by who ever votes in the final poll cause then some noob whos only heard one or two songs would vote jsut for the songs he recognises.
hmmm Its gotta be well thought out

Im actually interested in seeing if people do though. There's been a lot of bad blood to Push!t from this thread, and not everyone jumps to Third Eye though.
Ok, we'll go an album at a time. And this'll probably be just the thread regs, so no worry about n00bs not hearing songs.
(as you can guess, there really isnt a lot else going for this thread at the mo, and this idea is the best way to keep it going along at a good rate.)

I almost was, but the sense of 'surely this is a one off' puts me off. Plus I have enough new music to worry about already.
Im thinking we do it like this to start with.
Pick 2 songs off Opiate that you consider your favourites, not the best, but the ones you like the best.
We'll see if there's a similar pattern of what people like and what is hated. (now watch as they all get nominated)
We'll worry about the other albums after.

Apparently 666 is insignificant, as I recently have been told.
If you had been paying attention to the news a couple of months ago you would know that there was a mistake in translating the actual number of the beast. It has now been confirmed that the devil's number is 616, not 666.
