Your opinion. I disagree. I think maynard is more mature than that.

^^^^ More mature than what? You do realize that Tool are not the most religious people in the world don't you? This is one of the reasons I became such a huge Tool fan. I was researching Metaphysical topics when I heard them writing music about them.

I just think that Eulogy isn't even about Jesus. It very well could be, and that was my first impression, but it could also be about L. Ron Hubbard. (See: Scientology) It could also be about a numerous other people.

Dr. Jake Destructo

I'm thinking that he wrote it to someone as if he was portraying them as Jesus, whether it be in a sarcastic sense(which would make me lean towards L. Ron Hubbard) or in an actual holy figure. If the latter was true, then I'm really not sure who that would be.
Just my .02, take it or leave it.

Part of Bill Hicks show was to get his message out about how we are all one, and if everyone opened their third eye, they'd realise that there is no such thing as death and we'll all live forever bla bla.. or something like that... .. So I think that could fit in with your theory..

I firmly agree with this. Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard have their name all over that song IMO. Reading about the two clearly confirms this.
IMO Jesus wouldn't make sense. Jesus did die for us (if that's what you believe), however Hubbard didn't, but claimed he would.
Edit:
Did you guys see the thread on TDN about the guy in Hastings? This guy says he went and pre-ordered the new Tool album and asked the guy when the date was, and the the guy said sometime around th 23rd.
Either this guy is playing a joke, or he accidently pre-ordered Lateralus on Vinyl.

I really don't know their exact beleifs, but I know Hubbard created this bogus religion that is aimed at the weak, insecure poeple looking for a place of solace. I know he exploits these people, and in turn takes their money, and is now rich, famous, and also a very sly piece of ****.

Bill Hicks is great...
I got his Flying Saucer CD or something like that, and its funny.
I thought that the sample used in Third Eye (the first one) was Maynard though, because I heard somewhere he was a comedian before Tool. But I guess its Hicks.
I might be terribly wrong about the comedian thing though, but I could have swore that I heard it from this thread.

I just googled "basic scientology beliefs" and got all kinds of weird crap. I wont go into it but if you want to read about it it's all there. The sites look...cultish. Oh and "Scientology" is a registered trademark apparently. But it seems to be just another reincarnation cult that is "more about research about life than actual beliefs" or something like that. There you go. :)

Good conclusions.
1) Its to represent each album track, dots being heavy songs, dashes being light.
2) Its a new time signature Danny is going to use. Its so complex, it cant be described with numbers, it has to be wrote out in dots and dashes.
3) Its what MJK dick actually looks like
4) Blair sneezed on his monitor, and his text recognition turned it to that
5) Its an old fashioned music box template for the first bar of the new song.
6) Its a new language Justin made up
7) Its Adam's heart rate
8) Its a virus
9) It means nothing whatsoever

Stittett may be right, although I doubt it for some reason. Could it be Stimem to, or did we rule that out? Cause with Stimem, I found this stuff on some type of emission(I forgot the exact words), and it reminded me of "Astral Projection".

Excellent. Especially 3. Now we know.

TBH the books do have their bad points, sh!tty endings and in this book kids falling in love (which i stated in a thread in the pit seems to crop up in every book i read which focuses on kids), but there is something that really hits you with the book, it makes you want to go to hogwarts (sounding lame here), and puts you in a good mood. I read it in 10 hours with hangovers, which is some pretty mean feat, so yeah it has to have something going for it.
I do read other shizz too, the speed i have digested this means i can get back on my summer reading adventure, finishing off the discworlds and truckers/diggers/wings series by pratchet and the 'reading list'...which is...

Anyways, I'm downloading it. You're a good man. When I hit 5k, I'll try to get you all something special. :-D
Anyways, since one of my cables is on the fritz, I took my effects processor out of my rig(lol, sounds complicated) so I'm playing straight into my Ibanez 10 watt. I then cranked up my overdrive and volume to 11, yes, 11. I had an empty house, so I did some jamming to Part of Me, Ticks and Leeches(minus the segue, since it's gay) and Lateralus. Lateralus was amazing to play just balls out with no effects. I forgot how fun something simple can really be. On the second solo, since it's just pure wah wah, I did quite a bit of improv. A little tapping, some other legato stuff. It was quite a grand time. Most fun I've had playing guitar since I started learning Tool songs. :p
EDIT: herb- You are now.

for distortion sounds, the cheaper ones, are very weak, but pair it with a boss metal zone, and your all set.
Dr. Jake Destructo
07-17-2005, 10:58 PM
I get all of my tones from mine. Stinkfist is very dialed in. I have presets for Jones' typical sound, Stinkfist, and 46&2. I also have a decent Tom Morello tone, plus a myriad of my own stuff. I find clean tones to be harder to emulate, just because with distortion, you don't have to be exactly spot on to sound similair to what you're trying to get.

Lateralus is a different style to their other stuff, aenima (album) comes closest. Before aenima tool played alot of hard rock.

SESSIONS, CREDITS
& LUNCH BREAKS FROM
Although it might not get mentioned on the next CD, for the past couple of weeks, a multi-tasking chef Maynard has been providing the barbecue for his fellow band mates to consume at lunch breaks during the recording process. However, last Thursday (or maybe it was Friday), a guy named Joe (not Ron!) something or other who is working with the band grilled up some kind of sausages that were described as excellent. Knowing this is a bit vague for many Tool enthusiasts who want specifics about the recording process, tomorrow I will attempt to find out some more details about these sausages of Joes.
Hmmm...

Sorry if that's a stupid question but it's driving me nuts.
The symbol in the middle is the geometric form of Merkaba.
As far as the symbols surrounding (e.i. the pentigon facing up and down) could symbolize the penticle meaning balance of life. Facing up the male version, and facing down the female version.
As far as the surrounding geometric shapes of that, I have no idea. But then with TOOL it could mean something to them, in turn makes more sense than the later lol
This Lateralus code crap seems bogus.
Hey DJ,
Dude, I don't mean to sh*t on your parade or anything, (and I know I'm still a noob) but everything I have seen you post on this thread thus far is of nothing productive.
If you're not insulting something or saying that something is "gay", you really have nothing to say. I just think that the TOOL thread is something completely opposite of that. I'm not here to flame on you or anything, but come on. It just kills the feeling of the thread, I think.
Opinions are cool. It's what makes us us. But if an opinion isn't productive, then it becomes a rant. And no one likes crying.
Just a thought.
