Either way the dots can just stand for 5 pointed stars. If you pre-order it, then it will come the day it's released. And last of all, WHAT THE **** ELSE COULD IT STAND FOR!?!?!?

Seriously alot of thought went into this and I think it's valid so far. If I'm wrong, oh well

But, it doesn't have to be a five sided shape to stand for one. Also you can release it Sunday and have it in stores a few days earlier, the people that pre-ordered it will have it on Sunday.

Also if you have a better dot theory then I tell me because until then this is what I'm believeing.

The 25th being a Holy Day, and the last quarter of the moon, plus all the math that goes into it< make it sound like a reasonable date. The 26th works, but not as well. So as Thirteenth Step said, it being released on the 25th could very well mean a few MP3's on their site, or makin the album available on the site, or whatever. Now this whole star dot thing, the only sense i can make of this is that the album concept is said to be dealing with light, astronomy, and things of the such, so making the dots into stars seems at least somewhat logical. And after doing that< and doing some math, its fits pretty d.amn well. A normal font will have a star with 5 sides, but the font on here has 6. The cliche star design has 5. I can see why some people are skeptical of it. Also keep in mind that i'm not saying this all 100% true or whatever, this is just what I know, and I'm sharing with you guys. I'm just putting it out there. It seems pretty believable to me, but theres room for a little skepticism.

I think people are reading too much into Danny Carey's statement about how he's taking more cues from Tomas Haake of Meshuggah. Just because Meshuggah is heavier than Tool doesn't mean that's how they're going to transfer what they like about Meshuggah to Tool's own music.
They said touring with Meshuggah was like a kick in the teeth, and they might have added a little of their sound into it. They even said when they were jamming without Maynard things just started getting heavier.

Rap dosen't bother me when it has good lyrics, or at least something better than Ludacris' lyrics. Most rap today is just crap. I really can't think of many talented rap artists that are are also very successful.

i am going to be dissapointed if it gets heavier than lateralus, there is so much stuff out there that is heavy. I think Aenima is there best album to date, simply cause it perfectly blended perfect song structure, with riffs and basslines that actually had a catchy melody. lateralus was pushing on the progressive scale, still a great album.

Mr Herb

Lateralus wasnt that progressive melody wise. . .most songs have a good visible hook. It takes a couple of listens to get into them thou.

I respect him too, at least he's TRYING to be original. Some R&B lyrics are good.

Example: Alicia Keys' lyrics in 'Karma', especially the chorus:

"What goes around,

what goes up,

I love the way she sung it as well.

heh, that's clever thinking. To tell you the truth, I don't think I'd be that dissapointed if it was their last album if it was really good. I mean, if their next album is an excellent epic that surpasses all that they have created before and it becomes one of my favorite albums, than I won't mind them retiring. They'd just be going out with a bang, which is better than them playing music for another 20 years and ending up like the Rolling Stones  I don't want to see Maynard look like a vampire. I could see this being their last album, though I hope its not. Maynard seems to be the type of guy who would want to go off leaving us wanting more (I say Maynard because he's the only one I ever hear from), giving the band that "what could've been" type of aura. As much as I love the band, I really cannot stand the mysterious shadow they try to throw over themselves. I can totally understand when you hear people say that the pretentiousness of the band turns them off.

And about age, all the Members of Rush are 52 and they don't show any signs of aging when they play, so I don't think it'd be a real issue.

When there's a band as interesting as Tool, ever, there is a huge deal of pretentiousness. I can't see any other band putting as much effort into the level of interest every single album and song like Tool has. Tool has accomplished what every band dreams, where the depth is interesting enough for one fan to be completely indulgded into the band. It's almost like they are more than a band, and alot of people veiw them this way.

I know a guy who saw Rush in concert a couple off years ago and said the only noticable difference was that his voice didn't quite hit all the originally high notes.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only difference in his voice. Some of their older songs that required a bit higher notes don't sound exact but still very good when played in concert now. I figure, Maynard seems like a smart guy, and probably does all that new age crap, so he probably takes good care of his voice, and personally, I don't think he has that big of a range, a couple octaves, and so it doesn't seem like his voice would be the type to go once he reaches his 40s, unlike for example Chris Cornell, who as you can tell by Audioslave's two albums, still has a pretty good voice, but it's nothing like the Soundgarden days. I think Maynard will have the same voice for the next 5-10 years. This is why I think they probably have 1 more album in them after the one they are hopefully releasing soon.

A while back I heard some stuff about Tool's record deal... Relevant????

C15. What's this lawsuit I heard about?

Which one?

In late 1997, Volcano Records filed suit against Tool, claiming the band had violated their contract by seeking / entertaining offers from other labels. Tool filed suit against Volcano, saying that the label had failed to exercise a renewal option in their contract, and so they were free to leave. This ugly deadlock lasted for over a year, when finally, at the last minute, both parties agreed to terms (including a three-record deal), rather than going to court. The band didn't work on much new material during this period, not wanting it to wind up in the hands of the wrong label. Luckily, it all worked out.

However, in 2000, the band fired manager Ted Gardner (runs Larrikin Management, and used to manage Jane's Addiction). He filed suit against the band, essentially claiming they owe him money. At present, no information is available about the resolution of that dispute.

According to this, Tool signed a 3 record deal before Salival and Lateralus, meaning they are only obliged to do 1 more.

Exactly. It's unfortunate that the circumstances make it an easy stopping point. It might even depend on their new album, how it is received. For now, we can count on refracteroid or bilboran or whatever the hell you want to call it.

I should give you a fvcking standing ovation for that ****. ****it GHandi, you freaky,

According to this, Tool signed a 3 record deal before Salival and Lateralus, meaning they are only obliged to do 1 more.

I think they did it after Salival, before Lateralus....I sure hope I'm right.

I think that's a logical choice.

If there are any, maybe Tomas Haake from Meshuggah. I'm just saying, Danny is awesome on his own, adding Tomas would make those tracks the best ever.

F**k I have missed alot!

Recap! I think it's freakin sweet how we somewhat have an idea of when the album should be hitting shelves. I almost crapped my shorts thinking of that one.
And the subject matter is something I can really get into (that's if I'm thinking of Light/Dark in the same manner as they are.)
It's going to be insane, and once the tour starts I'll be cracking heads trying to get to at least one. (I'm one of those retards that came into TooL [which doesn't sound right now that i think about what i just said] right around when Lateralus was out. And then to be introduced into APC first was a painstake too, sh*t.)
That being said it leads us back to topic..

Back to topic!
I may be the only one who wants to hear this real bad, but I would love to hear a female vocalist accompany Maynards' vocals on a TooL song.

There's a band that TooL really admires called Butcher (www.butcherband.com, maynard also lends his image for one of their artistic photos) who has a female lead vocalist, and her voice alone has that eerie sort of harmonic-Irish-Folk tone Maynard has (in my opinion). Seeing how the band is thinking of having guest appearances I could only hope this band will be one. I would fu*cking rock to hear these two do a song.
Check out the band and see for yourself.

I know Maynard had done some vocals with a female before, but com'on, it was Tori Amos...what the hell.. I want someone that will give Maynard a run for his money, and have a beautiful vocal marriage working.

Hmmm, I've never heard Maynard's tone as being described as "harmonic-irish-folk." Is Maynard Irish-American? Actually, what is Maynard's ethnicity?

LOL No, no. I don't mean for a female vocalist to replace Maynard, but to sing along with him or as back up vocals, just to add depth in the song..

(...but i'm still going to sleep with one eye open :p)

Which leads to..

A female vocalist with Maynard could personify the whole Light/Dark thing, switching off the vocals (Maynard-Dark/Female-Light?) Sounds interesting.

There we go! I didn't think of it that way until now! A bow and much kudos to you *bow* It would make total sense to present a song in this way.

Hmmm, I've never heard Maynard's tone as being described as "harmonic-irish-folk." Is Maynard Irish-American? Actually, what is Maynard's ethnicity?

The reason I say this is because of Maynards' use of tones.

He has almost a sort of (and don't kill me for saying this I'm just trying to describe his unique voice which is hard enough already..) yodel (a hard rock yodel...did that save my ***?) were he can switch from one tone (or octov) to another with uncanny smoothness (he utilizes this very well in Lateralus...and not so much in the earlier albums. Ah, yes. He also uses it in his recent album Emotive on the song Fiddler and the Drum). And Irish folk does some of the same thing (only that Maynard does it in a way that's much smoother and with power in comparison). I've listened to old forms of music, so this is just something I observed.

Then you have Maynards POWER vocals, which is hardcore-extreme irish-folk! :p j/k But you get what I mean lol

So don't stone me! I'm too pretty to die!!
