Blue Collar is definitely southern comedy... not really US comedy in general if you ask me, although it is getting quite popular here in the north.

The thing about growling is this. People always say, they didnt like growling at first but after a while it didnt bother them. To me that sounds like drinking piss til it dont taste bad. If you can't get beyond the vocals, you're never gonna get very far in expanding your tastes. I mean, the vocals aren't really one of the driving forces in Opeth's music. It is very built around the amazing insturmental sections.(Not to belittle Mikael's singing/growling, but I prefer his guitar playing) Oh well, at least you guys have given it a shot. :D
Oh, and if they're trying to be heavy, why did they make an entirely soft album? If they were trying to be heavy, don't you think they would only use distorted electric guitars? Again, it's just an opinion, but it's just not what I think.

well, whenever I hear death vocals, I always get images of cheesy horror flick B movies. it just sounds cheesy and like they are trying too hard to be dark and evil sounding, even though the lyrics are quite poetic. It just doesnt sit well with my stomach i guess. I can relate to rounder here. I found it very hard to get into Opeth because of the growled vocals. However, I've always felt that the instruments were amazing. Akerfeldt is THE man, and after listening to a few of their albums (especially BWP) in contrast to other growling vocals of other metal bands, I've realized that he has one of the best pure growls in metal.

Yeah i could imagine Tool being up for a tour with Opeth. But im not sure about Opeth though. I read a small thing not long ago and Mikael was complaining about how there are no good new metal bands around today an rah rah rah.
Although he does like all that obscure prog stuff from the 70's, so he could be into Tool.

listen too the song from about 5:15 and thats where they added some stuff, instead of going into "standing above the crowd" he started whispering something, then like sometime later he finally said that line.....really wierd

I can't beleive I never noticed it until I read it on Toolnavy.. That's where you most likely saw it, Marshall. I mean, once it's pointed out to you, it's extremely obvious. i find triad to be anything but boring. there is so much going on in that song i think people miss a lot of it. That whole breakdown is amazing. All those sound effects danney is playing live is pure heaven to me. its one of the best songs on the record. reflection is a little more repetitive and i have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it although i wont skip it when it comes up on my playlist. the only tool songs i usually skip are the little enima ditties. and sometimes i let them play too.

Hehe I tend to like the beefier sticks as well. I like Bisonnette's signatures and 5Bs are a nice well-rounded stick, but at the moment I'm actually using these giant baseball bats that I got for free at a Kenny Aronoff clinic. You know, I've tried using smaller sticks before, but I always find that I'm actually SLOWER with them! Go figure...goes against any rational explanation I can come up with, but I always feel alot more comfortable with larger sizes.

I play with Danny's Sigs...the balance helps me a lot. I used to play with Barker's Sigs (much smaller in width/weight), and I also find now that they make me go slower.

An explanation could be that the weight is shifting faster in your sticks because they are heavier.

Ok I've been out and about for a while....whats the latest. I'm gonna rerecord Stinkfist and probably do Push it and definitely The Patient. Probably 46 and two as well...I need them for myself just as well, just to do them. If anyone has any APC instrumentals, done well, I would love those as well.
Pwnage.
I take it you like The Used.
Please tell me that noone from The Used said that...right?

It seems really off beat at times, and what key is that in?

^^Avoid double posting, we've already had one constant double poster here
For the Volto! drum solo and excerpts from the band.. just head to http://www.voltoband.com/ then click the bottom text that says "there's more here.." and then on that page there should be a myspace player and some tracks.. I believe the drum solo is the S Excerpt.

Dunno.
I could do the bass separatly and send it to you, the tunning wont be correct cause i dont have the type of chrods needed for that and the drums i can re-do them and then send it all to you separatly.
I can also do bass for The Package, The noose, Weak and powerless, Thinking of you, 3 libras and a few others :thumb:
The off beat thing is cause i was either trying to catch up to the bass or vise versa, rmeebr i taped each thingy separatly.

yeah it is kinda off beat, just a tad, lol. I was kinda expecting a complete version of the song, i beleive the bass is supposed to be lower C# or maybe ti's just my really crappy computer speaker, either way.

I've never actually seen the video to Salival, but i have heard the cd a few times. It sounds inside a stadium to me. I'm not completely sure, so i'll let someone else verify that for you.

I thought Salival contained no Live videos, but only the music videos and then live tracks on the CD?
One Groovin Clown

that may be true, i'm not totally sure about the video content. But the cd that comes laong with it was recorded live at various shows, most of them being stadiums or inside events.

Ha.
Yeah, it's alot different for vocals. I do every verse and chorus in one take, but if I sang the whole song in one take there would be more imperfections than there already are.

Yeah, you have a good point there Moses. If I was doing something a little more technical, like maybe an Opeth song or something, I'd have to do it in sections because I couldn't pull it all off in one take. I could probably do most Tool songs in one take though. It's mostly personal preference anyways, though.

I have the second half of that, and I'd really like to get the first half, so go for it.
