I like the guys music tastes though. For the most part.
EDIT-I just noticed that his whole track list for this week was Tool... Holy ****

Yeah, he has to be leaving his music playing at all times. That'd be too outrageous.
That's pretty much me, but replace the top 3 bands with Dream Theater, Megadeth and Metallica :p
I just leave my music playing constantly, I have found it's difficult to sleep without music :p

TOoL - Demon cleaner ????????????
TOoL - Merkaba....is that on laterualus, what the hell
clearvision

Demon cleaner is a Kyuss song tool covered live, it can be found on some bootlegs along with other live covers such as peachs spasm.
Tool - Merkaba is on the CD that comes with the boxset salival, released in between lateralus and aenima, the boxset contains a CD with reworked live versions of push!t and third eye, a live version of part of me, a cover of Led Zep's no quarter, new song's merkaba, maynards d!ck and LAMC (kinda a joke though). The boxset also contains a DVD with all of tool's videos prior to the release of salival on it. It is very rare and is available on Ebay for quite high prices. You can download the CD, it's well worth checking out.

NP : DT - Octavarium
I sense JoZ will be angry with this one :( Basically a whole album of surrounded/another day with a couple of good songs thrown in...after first listen anyways...title track is ok, bit of a mission though.

Good good. I liked those tracks, so ill take a break from back tracking DT and get this then. Your recommendations have been good so far
On a similar note, i got a listen to With Teeth the other day. 'Only' sounds....well i found it a mix of Bloc party/synth pop/Talking Heads. Is that just me? That track sticks out though as the weird one.
clearvision
05-27-2005, 09:30 AM
 Bloc party? Talking heads? Hmm maybe actually...that song is a tune...the whole album is pretty good, 'right where it belongs' is probably joint best Nin song with closer and Hurt.
I will have to listen to that DT album again, not suprisingly, it's pretty epic. But alot of the early stuff was mellow, a couple of muse like tunes with a bit of heaviness...and the title track was just for the prog-lovers clocking in at 23:59 it seems to never end.
Starting to get into some patton stuff atm, loving angel dust by Faith no more. bartender did my an informative little discography on him, I'm trying to digest some bungle stuff and will probably look into some fantomas stuff...
Thoughts on patton and his many forms?

But they say it's quality not quantity...

I'll agree with that. I really like him with Faith No More, I've only recently been introduced to Mr Bungle, whom I like, but I find it really hard to get into Fantomas. I guess I'll check out some more of Patton's stuff, especially the DEP EP he worked on.

I just have something against screaming really, I love the way alexisonfire use it to bring out the vocal line...When your singer actually sings he kinda reminds me of Chino (which is good) and the sound remings me of team sleep, but heavier...

On a completely unrelated note, I just played drums at a school concert. I drummed in "Hysteria" by Muse, "Save the Population" by the Chili Peppers, and an original song that my band and I made. Lots of fun, the show's happening again tomorrow night.

Yeah, I guess.
Supposedly, there was this guy who called into a radio station, claiming he was an ex-employee for Area 51. He was saying something about how they had a lot of secrets, they were out to get him, and something about aliens. That kind of fun stuff.
Into the conversation, the whole place just shut off. I'm not exactly sure what part of the radio station went down.
Later, the guy admitted to it being a hoax. But it really makes you wonder. Maybe the government shut the radio station down, and forced the guy to say it was a hoax. Unlikely, but I like to somewhat believe, or at least think about that stuff.

tool are really trippy
Yes they are.
My friend jsut got into them because I gave him a mix CD which had like the whole Aenima CD, and some other songs. He says he loves the CD, but it freaks him out when he listens to it while he's sleeping. Like he has really bad dreams and **** when he does that.
And I remember some people had the same problem with the song Stinkfist, which he says is the main song that freaks him out.
Crazy stuff.

Faaip De Oiad is freaky, but I can talk my mind into focusing on the drums in the background, and all is well.
Teleincision definitely isn't a Tool name. They've been able to come up with amazing names with references to philosophers etc., not ridiculous word combinations, so unless they've "sold out" it's not the name of the DVD. Remember, with Lateralus, Tool released information that is was called "Systema Encephale" and is had song names like "Alcowhore" or something.

Yeah, Teleincision doesn't particularly sound like something Tool would name to me.
Anyway, I got bored tonight and had a crack at making that Aiden guys Lateralus Code. It sounds ok I guess, it's cool in parts but nothing amazing. Here's a screenshot of the final product I got in Cool Edit Pro.

Y'know, the name never bothered me, but you're right... Teleincision sounds more like something that a thrash metal band would come up with. I thought that Ænima and Lateralus were great titles and I'm expecting their next album, for some reason, to be in Latin... I have no idea why.
But yeah, I loved the pun with Ænima: Anima (soul) and Enema (cleansing).

And I guess that whole song project's never going to happen.
If I was slightly richer and not saving for a festival it would have. We were only missing guitar and vocals. And with the amount of guitarists, im suprised no one ever put up their tracks
I didn't know we had drums recorded. I figured we were waiting on Ken, since I know he's really busy with his own band, etc.

No, I don't. But later today I'll experiment a little and see if I can get my vocals Tool-like enough, or else I'll drop out. I'd rather just do guitars.
And if you can sing it, that would be awesome. Although, if all else fails, I know someone who could do the vocals and would probably do a good job. He's not a forum member, which might defeat the purpose, but it would be interesting.

"Adam Jones is God" is praising a guitarist; I have no problem with that. But Tool doesn't "own" anyone; they own, sure. But when you say that they own YOU then that insinuates that no other band comes close to them. It's very closed-minded and fanboyish in my opinion. Even if he wasn't one, his moniker still contributes to the theory that Tool fans arr all fanboys. Now we all know that that isn't true and maybe that's all that matters; but why contribute to that theory? Know what I'm saying?
/rant over
And I'd help out with the guitars too if my pedal got Jones' sound. For some reason, originally I wanted to sound like Larry Lalonde.. oh well. So I've been playing a lot of Primus stuff.

Actually, yeah, I read about that and knew what painting was used, I never saw the video until recently and I thought it was pretty cool. They have some great videos, and I'm usually not one who likes videos at all.

Crap, I just tried screaming and it hurt. It seems my voice has come out of hibrenation after today's band practice. I can do a Deathmetal scream like nothing for long periods of time, but it's been forever since I've done any mid/high range screaming.

I could do some, but it may take a while because i have to be alone to record them, and i have to change the strings, although they wouldn't be exactly like on the album, i would put some fills and add some efects, i could do it without the efects and fills if you want to. Just email me to friikmudo@hotmail.com a list with the list of songs you want me to do (sorry, but i share the computer so i don't use it every day so i may not check the thread in a while)

I just picked up Undertow yesterday. It's about what I was expecting. Darker than their other peices, bad production, a couple sweet tracks, a couple lamer tracks. As of now, Sober is my favorite track. There's nothing too special about it, but I really think that Jones' feedback is what makes the song for me.
I wanna do the guitar for Sober. :D

it should go for 2:11mins although...that video was pretty strange, once the song was finished maynard just sat on top of the guy and the guy looked like he was in a trance or somthing, freaky ****.
I got the Danney Carey solo, Maynard fight, and getting the Maynard interview now, any others worth getting?
By worth getting i mean are'nt some random holding a $30 camera that he/she snuck in under her jacket.

THANK YOU for the Grudge one, I lost that ages ago and have been searching for it ever since. Apart from that, nothing new there but its good you uploaded them all.

We had The Patient ready, but Drew never got around to doing the Bass. And The Grudge was another one in the pipeline (lateralus the track was causing the guitarists some problems though)
JoZ did do about a minute of Disposition, which is what started this whole thing off.

lateralus is pretty basic on guitar, i can do all of it with wah and such (and attempt the pinch harmonics).....may i ask why you are doing this recording thing?

New rumor....'Teleincision' will come out August 16....but it's actually the DVD...of what, I don't know. Again, just a RUMOR!!!!
We already knew about it. And we've concluded that 'Teleincision' is not something Tool would name their release, but instead something they would make as a rumored name.

Its the ill fated thread cover session we've had planned, read back in the thread a bit for more of an explanation
And as basic as Lateralus may seem to some, there are some annoying rythms to get your head around.

 Ill-fated being the key word.
I wouldn't call Lateralus basic...not in the way it is arranged and written. Maybe technically it isn't always challening on a virtuoistic level, but basic certainly isn't the right word for it.

Lazy use of basic by mean. I was more aiming it at the guitar work, since some people seem to find it easy compared to others.
Well, I was talking to faith actually, I knew what you meant. And, like you said, there are some tricky rhythms. And there's more to the chord progressions and things in the guitar alone that are far from basic. Some people seem to overlook songwriting skill for technical playing, which is a shame.

There's noone else that has offered to do the drumming. If there's any more takers, I'm sure noone would mind if they did a few tracks. It looks as if the guy with the big orange avatar could probably do some of the tracks. He did win the drum off deal, didn't he?

Mine was a short piece of Part Of Me I did back in the 'wow, a guitar, im really good cos I can play a power chord in D' days. So you're not missing out.
I also have some of The patient lying around from that era, but i recorded that with a PC mic, so it degrades my crappy tone even more.
Donate me some cash so I can by a pre amp, and I might be able to put up something a bit more worthy. :D

I am saving up from work to buy a whole new setup Im considering buying a ibanez iceman it was pretty sweet but when I played a couple of tool songs it seemed a bit off (I play with a epiphone sg and it has never seemed) off I thought it was a bit strange and when I get that stuff im gonna get stuff so I can out some stuff on the internet.

I started learning Sober about half an hour ago, and I've basically got it down. I just need to fine tune it, and I should be able to record it some day after school. It'll be on a computer mic, but I get fairly good tones out of it. If you wanna hear what it sounds like, and if you would also like to hear some of my original pieces (of crap) click here (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/writePage.cfm?myType=_music&bandid=332764&bandnamesave=drjakedestructo)

But seriously though, after Download, im going to get on with buying a preamp, then hounding the guys in audio arena on how to safely do line ine recording
I'll record some guitar tracks and put them up soon. Most likely Stinkfist and Patient, but I'm not sure.
