Thus, this isn't the place for this. Please keep your (idiotic) opinions out of here.

There's a new Tool tribute album: The Piano Tribute to Tool. Not sure if many of you like tribute albums like this and the previous string tributes but in case anyone wants to check it out here's the link: http://toolpiano.thetributeto.com
You can preview a couple of seconds of "The Patient", "Schism", and "Ticks and Leeches".
I saw this on the Tool site and posted about it earlier in another thread but I wasn't sure if anyone had seen it or not.

Yes, I managed to download it with no problems in about 20 minutes. And many, many thanks. That's by far the best video/audio quality Tool bootleg I've seen so far, and of course, an awesome performance to boot.
The performance of Triad was especially cool. I'd be interested to know who the two guys were the joined the band on stage for that song (the guy on drums, and then they other guy on what looked like a keyboard). Maynard looked like he was playing some guitar too.
I can't wait to see the first half of the concert.

Actually, I already started uploading it about an hour ago (since sending it to anyone over MSN would be ridiculously slow). So, Darkness Of Greed or anyone else that's looking for the 2nd half of the concert, just check back around 9 o'clock in the morning. If it's finished uploading before I have to leave for work, then I'll come back and post the link here.

Finding Beauty In The Dissonance: A Piano Tribute To Tool (http://toolpiano.thetributeto.com/web/8910/page.asp)
Description:
The sparse, stripped down renditions of Tool songs metamorphoses their sonic fury into haunting piano melodies. This piano tribute boils these songs down to their essence and it is in this state that one grows a greater understanding of what makes Tool the band they are: an unflinching exploration of the darker side of life and art.
Details:
Pre-Order This CD And Have It Shipped One The Release Date. April 19, 2005
Tool is a band that defies category. While many would say their dark, obsessive, guitar driven sonic attack carries on in the proud tradition that Black Sabbath and Metallica started, others would argue the band revitalized the prog rock movement of the 70s, originally forged by such bands as King Crimson (with whom they eventually toured) and Pink Floyd. In either case Tool broke new ground by fusing these genres in the post punk era of grunge. With their haunting, nihilistically themed albums and epic length songs, Tool was an uncompromising musical tsunami that helped resurrect Metal from its 80’s glam deathbed.
The Piano Tribute to Tool carries the musical exploration that Tool is known for to a deeper level. Here, the sparse, stripped down renditions of Tool songs metamorphoses their sonic fury into haunting piano melodies. This piano tribute boils these songs down to their essence and it is in this state that one grows a greater understanding of what makes Tool the band they are: an unflinching exploration of the darker side of life and art. Sit down, settle in, and press play, it’s a hell of a ride.

Numerous people have mentioned starting up their own forums. However, its nice the way we can link with the bigger community, as well as having our own thread. Many posters from here wouldnt go on the new one, because, this is enough, and it servers its purpose. The more forums you register at, the harder it is to have a "quick browse" which is what many people do, incudling me, maybe once a day generally speaking.

Problem with Tool forums is that its 90% fan boys. At least here we can point out good and bad points, and discuss other bands.
Besides, this forum has all I need. Intelligent places to talk, places to mindlessly post. And plenty of elitists to keep my blood pressure levels at a good level.

He also had some other stuff up which were also dated April 1st (something about Danny's friend playing somewhere...don't remember exactly). April 1st updates were up since last night actually. I know a while back people were talking about how great it would be to have a live Tool dvd released with the new album. Well, I just read some "news" on this. If anyone else on here reads Blair's newsletters then I'm sure you knew about this but I'll put it up anyway just in case.
While inching forward on a sticky floor full of spilt honey-popcorn (god****it!), a couple of guys who earlier recognized Maynard ask me what's going on with the band. "Don't you read the website?" I ask them. "Yes, we know that the silver Coleman keeps ice for three days, but what about the new CD?" "Okay, the recording sessions are going very well, although it's still too early in the process for there to be a specific release date. Ditto with the live DVD, which isn't finished being edited yet, and which probably won't be released until after the new CD, perhaps in tandem with some other goodies that have been in the works for a while. --Blair's Feb. Newsletter.
These newsletters are usually pretty lengthy but are usually interesting and even have some "hidden" clues in there concerning the band and their music.

Well, sometime later on tonight, I'll see if I can cut Part 1 of the concert into two shorter parts and then post them on yousendit. Seems that might help the chances of anyone that keeps having their download of the first half crap out partway through.
Heh, and you had to laugh out loud at Maynard's little chat with the audience in part one:

Maynard: Well, that's good. Because we're not going to be having...WWF or monster truck rally sort of fun. We're not going to be having...Kid Rock or Limp Bizkit kind of fun. We're going to be having some...think for yourself, question authority kind of fun, yes?

Well...you could compress it in a few different ways, like putting it in a zip file.

How would I split it?
I had to delete tons of music off of my computer just to get part 2 to fit, then I had to delete more for part 1. I don't want to lose anymore music. :(

Most of it was stuff that no one would want anyway. Some of it was hard to part ways with because I hadn't put it all on cds. :(
I'm using WinRAR to put all of part 1 into a zip file, is that going to actually compress it below 700mb?

ok... im going to start uploading Sweat, 46&2, You Lied, Eulogy and i think it's an early version of Merkaba. I'll post links as they're made. Each file's from about 40-110mb. Not the most excellent of quality, and the camera guy barely ever films Reverend Daniel "lion-****er" Carey, mostly on Reverend Maynard "the slayer of evil" Keenan and Justin chancellor "unfortunately a jew", a bit on "the-original-sinner-along-with-eve" reverend Adam Jones. you'll get it when you see the Stinkfist video, it's how maynard introduces "the rest of the church" after introducing Reverend "Buzz Lightyear" Melvin.

Not my fault :P there's some sweet sh!t on this video, After Stinkfist there's You Lied, it's got pu**** as off salival, Third Eye as off salival, the 2nd half of merkaba, and some more awsome stuff. After I've finished breaking up this show I'll start breaking up the "radio city" concert. it's got some crazy stuff on it, goes for nearly 2 hours.
Here's a list of the songs on this vid (toledo Oh):
Sweat
46&2
Stinkfist
You Lied
Eulogy
2nd half of Merkaba
Sober
Pu**** as off salival
Third Eye as off Salival
Opiate
2nd half of Flood

For the last time, it's a prank.
Even if it was true, it would have been a big deal mainly because of Maynard's anti-organized religion beliefs. Also, songs like Hush, Opiate, Intolerance, Eulogy, and other statements he has made would be null and void with a new Jesus-freak perspective on life.

So, I'll just upload the entire thing again later on this afternoon, and a link should hopefully be up on this thread around 9 or 10 o'clock tonight.
And to the poster who mentioned that he tried uploading Part 1, but stopped it after an hour because he thought it timed out, you might want to give it another try. I really like The Hand That Feeds, and it's even better in context of the whole album. Actually, the album wasn't too much like THTF, that's sort of the straight-up rocker in the album, whereas most of the other songs venture off into more NIN-y territory. I'll be the first to tell you, though, that the new album is incredible.

My first suggestion is that you get the Fragile immediately. I have a feeling that if you didn't like TDS before, you will after TF. Even if you don't, you should like TF. Maybe you won't, though.
It's never really been NIN's place to be straight up anything. It's one of the things I love about them, so if THTF was indicative of the rest of the album, I'd be a little dissapointed. There's a lot of different elements that come together on the new album, even though it might be the hardest 'rocking' yet.

I don't believe this...Maynard?....Jesus? This can't be true. But the webmaster already said it wasn't a prank. Does anyone know anything more?
I think Pushit is way better live than studio. Maynard's voice always sounds better live, IMO.
I thought the live version was too pretentious and dragged on too long, but I'll have to listen to it more to get into it, maybe.

For the last time, dude. IT'S NOT TRUE. It WAS a prank. If it was true, don't you think everybody in this thread would be freaking out?

It is pricey. The DVD is something like 150, not sure about VHS. I've been watching eBay auctions for Salival myself....
I think most of us who don't own it already are always on the lookout. Anyway, how often, if ever, do mint condition copies of Salival come up on eBay. I've seen mint VHS versions, but I already know I want the DVD. If anyones seen any around, let me know, I'm after one.
And yes, I know that it will cost far more than an opened copy, I am willing to pay the extra.

from their site:
You know the old saying, “no news is good news”, well… that was the case as far as the recording process was going for the new Tool CD, but now things may have changed a bit. Yesterday, when I went to the studio to give Maynard a bottle of wine (a 1992 Maya) for winning the bet that I had with him involving his new film “Sleeping Dogs Lie” (I lost by default, not being able to attend the Sedona screening), not only wasn’t Maynard there, but, in what seems to be a case of enantiodromia (something becoming its opposite) if ever there was one (!), I was told the reason why he wasn’t there. I wish this post was dated April 1, but, unfortunately, it isn’t. Like a doctor giving a patient a straight, honest answer to a medical diagnosis, without sugar-coating the truth, here’s exactly what I was told: “Maynard has found Jesus.” This will come as a complete shock to most (but not all) of you, as it did to me. In fact, it just seemed like another MJK prank until I talked to the one person who I believe would know if all this was legit or not. After nearly an hour on the phone with this person, the answer I received was that Maynard has indeed “found Jesus” and that, for this reason, he’s abandoned the project for the time being, if not entirely. I don’t know what the f**k is in the water these days, but hopefully a black jelly belly will turn up in that golden bowl… that’s all I can think to say at this point. Before leaving the studio, I watched as Danny made arrangements to go play some golf, while Adam and Justin kept working on a particular song. So, in case you missed it (those who don’t read the whole post), here’s today's news: Maynard has found Jesus…
anyone know anything about this?

Erm excuse me, Blair's post is dated 31st of may is it not? And Kabir's site still has the message up...last year he said the day after that it was an april fool. I think we should be looking at this as an excuse for the album getting delayed?
LOL@Kage... I was gonna rant about how the salival version is dragged on for too long and the ending of the song (the best part 'if you say i might fade like a sigh if i stay...it will end no other way') sounds much better on Aenima. BUt i didn't think anyone agreed.

I still prefer Pu5hit live. Mainly just for the changed intro, it just gives it that extra dynamic feel.
But everytime I say that, JoZ comes along and nerfs me with Third Eye :upset:

The start of the live version of pu**** is better, the end of the CD version is better. Triad live is just orgasmic :) that's my input for the day.
I agree on the Triad comment; I don't know why, but for me it almost soothes me if I'm having a rough day if I just sit and listen to it. Maybe I'm thinking about it too hard, but it just seems to really calm me down and almost focus me as well.

Ok, i'm going to get off topic a bit but i just saw this link on another message board. It's a short clip of an APC performance where they're playing "The Noose". Quick question: What is Maynard playing? Looks like a guitar but then it looks a bit odd.

Third Eye really is far more orgasmic than Pushit. I've tried listening to Pushit more than once, even the live version on Salival...but nothing captures me quite like Third Eye

There are several tabs that attribute a second bassline to Maynard in Triad, most notably the one off Tooltabs.net...
I honestly do not hear any second bassline in the song at all. Justin's bass is hard enough to hear in most songs, let alone trying to hear a phantom second bassline done by Maynard, in a song with so much distortion from Adam it really isn't funny.
I've never heard of him playing guitar either, not for Disposition or Reflection...maybe he did some stuff with APC, but last I knew, the only thing Maynard did with Tool was sing (even if it was with a megaphone on Eulogy)

Those were pretty cool. I didn't know Jeordie did the backing vocals on some songs, like in the Noose.
And I really regret the fact that I never got to see them live, ESPECIALLY when they were touring with NIN!

Wow, only liking certain sections of Third Eye? That song is insane, each part contributes a certain thing to the song as a whole, and it is one of the best Tool has written. The way that song cycles through so many different sonic and textural soundscapes, moods, and tension is unmatched in some single albums, much less one song.

He is holding something when he's singing the 'you opened my eyes' bit on the oklahoma vid...what is the main verse section? 'so good to see you once again, i thought that you were hiding from me'? I'm not a big fan of that bit...I just love the bit 'So glad to see you i mised you so much'. I'm not a hater the song, it's just in a different league than the classics (push!t, No Quarter, Sober, Parabola)
Your and my idea of the classics vary greatly:
Third Eye, Lateralus, Reflection, Sober, Eulogy, etc.

No quarter is so atmospheric, that's what gets me...and maynards voice varies and is so strong in the song. I like lateralus a load too, reflection and triad bore me slightly  I overlistened eulogy slightly (play count = 112 on itunes, and i used to play it on WMP too) it used to be my favourite but then kinda drifted out. The 4 i mention above and probably lateralus too are the real stand out tracks. Though i do like all of their stuff i'm not putting any of it down, just some is better than others.
The thing I do like about No Quarter better than the Zep version is that Tool seem to have a stronger grasp of dynamics.
Which is displayed in almost every one of their songs, one of their best qualities in my opinion.

You need to get your hands on Salival, Third Eye and Push!t are better on that than the studio versions, IMO.
I've heard them before, and my they were magic! The only thing is that i don't ahve enough money to go and try and bid for a salival box set, unless i want to take out of my new bass money. I'm gonna stick with the new bass.
