Its idiots like you that make Mustaine and his fans hated.

And if Metallica kept him Megadeth never would've formed, and Mustaine probably wouldn't have been as driven to write such great music, being as how he wanted to be faster and heavier than Metallica.

I bought Peace Sells and TSHF 3-4 hours ago.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the origianal Peace Sells version so I bought the remastered one. Although it's got 4 more tracks mixed by Randy Burns :thumb:

I think that the remastered version is better. I really like the remastered version of "The Conjuring.

Does anyone have a link about why Ellefson quit or got fired from Megadeth?

Arise II
03-02-2005, 01:49 AM
Ellefson (wierdest name ever, BTW) wanted more money from Dave than his contract said he should have (which was actually a pretty low sum) so he sued Dave. 'Course, after that, they couldn't really play together

Ellefson sued Mustaine for 18.5 million and lost.

Yeah, personally I think he was right to snap. I know it's only natural for people to compare old members to new members and I think the fans were doing it ability wise. If it was ability wise it'd be very hard to pick out a Lead Guitarist. I'm really still stuck between Chris Poland and Marty Friedman. I tend to go with Marty Friedman cause I enjoy his solo work so much, but Chris' work in **** The Machine is also excellent.

I think that the remastered version is better. I really like the remastered version of "The Conjuring.

Some songs sound very good and some bad.

I didn't like the version of Peace Sells. The original IMO sounds better.

But man, Black Friday and My Last Words sound fantastic. So much better than the originals. And you can hear Gar very good. His bass pedals, ride, crash everything is so great. The best thing about this remastered version is Gar's drumming. God, now I can hear how sick he played ! :thumb:

And about TSHF, I downloaded most of the songs from internet before buying it. And of those I haven't heard Shadow of Deth and Blackmail The Universe are fantastic !

What else can I say about this album??? Chris still sounds like Chris and that makes him the best 'deth lead guitarist for me.

Now I worship him even more !

Cacophony are amazing. I suppose you can't expect anything more out of them two. I'm really shocked that Jason Becker was only 18 when Speed Metal Symphony came out though....or maybe he was younger, I forget. Anyway, any Megadeth fan should grab a few of Marty's solo albums. And yeah, does anyone have Cryptic Writings?
I'm listening to "Almost Honest" now, it's true that this isn't as heavy as some of the early Megadeth stuff, but lyrically and musically, it's superb.

Well, I've heard the first 3 songs, and I like them all.
The first song has a really nice riff in my opinion, a bit repetative but it's cool all the same, and does some funky changes.

The second song is pretty mad, I can definately say I like it already.

Youth's best songs, imo, are

Victory
A Tout Le Monde
Addicted to Chaos
Youthanasia
Train of Consequences

Victory is awesome, basically an outline of their career. A Tout Le Monde is their Fade to Black, about Dave overdosing on Valium. Addicted is about, IIRC, a person who you loved who guided you through everything leaving. Youth is about corruption in the government, and I can't remember what Train is about.

I look at Megadeth's newest album as a sort of medium between all of thier 80's and early 90's material and thier later material leading up to "The World Needs A Hero." Some of the songs are "mid-paced" (Die Dead Enough, Tears In A Vial) while others are very fast and easy to headbang to (Back In the Day, Kick the Chair) and still others are epic (The Scorion, Of Mice And Men) :thumb: . You should definitely buy this album without any question. Do not expect it to be like Metallica's "St. Anger" (which is always an inevitable comparison) because it is so much better. If you buy "The System Has Failed" and don't expect "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" or "Rust in Peace" but rather a newer, fresher sound, you should be happy with your purchase. :D

I'm assuming most of you already know, but if you're missing any CDs in your Megadeth collection (and it might help if you're in England), you could check out HMV's current sale. It's a 4 CDs for £20 deal, with a surprisingly good selection, including several Megadeth albums. Even if you only want one particular one, I think they'll be reduced individually (just not as much).

Sorry if this is old news around these parts, 'HMV' isn't too good a phrase to search for.

I hate it when gigs are 18+, I had to drive for 2 and a half hours to see Deth when two days later they were playing 15 minutes away, but it was 18+.

CTE has High Speed Dirt, Foreclosure, Ashes in your Mouth, all awesome songs, and the title track has one of their coolest basslines.

It's definetly worth seeing Megadeth live, their definitely the best band I've seen live.

Weird first three albums if you ask me.

I like High Speed Dirt the most from CTE
But you know, of all the crafty names in the world, your name right there is probably the best name.

Is that me you're talking about? If you are, thank you. Long live Metallica and Megadeth!

Hmm, first post here. What do you guys think of Killing is my Business....?

A bit primative, haven't found their sound yet to me.

I was reading the sleeve for 'Peace sells but who's buying it?' yesterday and it says that Mustaine plays a BC Rich 'Rich Bich'. I've heard of a BC Rich Bich but not a BC Rich
'Rich Bich' before, could any guitarists around explain if it's a mistype or not.

The model is called "Rich Bich" and it's made by B.C. Rich, so you say Rich twice.

And that just kills me, I dunno if I'll be able to see them live, but to be able to would be amazing.
Although, I wish I could choose the playlist... I have to say I don't like 100% of Megadeth's songs...

Deth
03-11-2005, 04:21 PM
I don't like them all either but which don't you like?

Chu
03-11-2005, 04:24 PM
I dunno, it's not that I don't like them, I'll just usually skip them I guess, like when listenning to Peace sells.. I'll just jump straight to Peace sells and miss Wake Up Dead and The Conjuring.

WHAT!!! BLASPHOMY!!! Yeah, they're not that great, but I rarely skip tracks.

Very possibly, reading it back it is quite confusing, I just wanted to know if it was Mustaine's old signature or anything and if it looks any different to a bich

When I saw them they just went up, hardly any talking, and played for 2 hours, with songs from Killing is my business right up to The system has failed. Something for everyone.
