I'll say it and I know it's been said before, but Megadeth in almost every way is just a better, more talented band than Metallica. They always have been, even when Dave wrote Call of Ctulu. Think of all of the people who say, "Metallica is metal because they have METAL in their name, therefore making them the best band ever!".

Sad.

Rust in Peace is their best, Peace Sells is also VERY good. Then if you like Peace Sells more, get Killing is my Business and So Far So Good So What. If you prefer Rust in Peace, get Countdown to Extinction and maybe Youthanasia if you're okay with it not being very thrash. In the end, just get them all.

Victory has one of my favorite solos ever, and A Tout Le Monde is an amazing song, and Reckoning Day was sick live. A very good album indeed, though probably one of my least favorite from Megadeth.

I do.

And I just bought Cryptic Writings. I'm shocked. I didn't think Megadeth could get worse than Youthanasia. If it wasn't for Trust, She-Wolf, and a couple of others I would probably only ever listen to it once or twice.
Now I'm really not looking forward to Risk, but I have to complete the collection!

Dave Mustaine wrote a few songs from Kill Em All, and 2 from RTL. that's all.

I love RIP PSBWB both great, as for Daves voice - its good most of the time but there is times when his singing/talking is ruined like on Sweating Bulltes.

Against Metalica, they are better at times and not so better at other times. Megadeth seem to me to be rather cheesy on ocassions, like the artwork and talking on some tunes as mentioned before. I think thats y i prefer metalica, but we can have both :-D its great he got kicked out!

Countdown to Extinction
The System Has Failed

IMO South of Heaven > Reign in Blood, and Metallica albums only have a few good songs per, and thats only on the early stuff, so RiP > all. I say RiP is the best because its the first with Marty (definitely their best lead guitarist), Menza, and it was still thrash, whereas Countdown was less thrash, so less good. As far as MOP and RIB again, for 86 thrash albums, I think its Peace Sells > Among the Living > Reign in Blood > MOP.

^I'm not sure but I think it started when Mustaine invited Junior back to the band and at this time the last album was just finished completely by Mustaine. And Junior said he wanted money too from that album although he didn't take part in recording/producing. So, Mustaine asked him to fvck off plus he was so mad that in his interviews later he said that junior couldn't keep time in studio (worst insult towards a musician IMO) during 'deth years. And that's how it all went on....

Ok, but rhyme is not an important thing, you know. Too much of rhyme can even ruin a song. Often people care about the meaning behind lyrics. A few rhymes can be enough :thumb:

who can honestly say they don't sing symphony of destruction like that lol.

or "DUNN dulla DUNNA, DUNN da DUNN, da DANNA" Guess what that is?
Holy Wars. I have a habit of singing guitar riffs instead of the lyrics.

Ok, I don't feel like translating the whole thing. But I can translate main things.......just for you :thumb:

"A few months ago ex-Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland and his mangement and lawyer sued on megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. On the recent re-production of album Rust in Piece, Mustaine included three new demos without the permission of Poland. Mustaine included these demos because he thought that "Chris would be grateful for such a "commercial", accept it as a sign of respect and it will show to the fans the thruth: how big was these solos' (Poland's work) role on Marty Friedman".

Finally Chris demanded $9.500 and stopped all relations with Musataine and whole Megadeth."

I hope that was clear enough :upset:

Well, about that Poland stuff. I still can't believe that 2 guys who spend writing music, sharing food and touring together for many years can sue eachother. It's ridiculous !

I could never expect such a thing from him. Probably it was his cunning lawyer biatches who convinced him while he (Chris) was drunk or something.

Anyway, why only $9500??? Such a little sum.

Strange, I think mechanix is one of their worst songs, lyrically. (still an amazing song). Some of the songs on SFSGSW have some decent lyrics, such as in my darkest hour and set the world afire. Countdown as well has some good lyrics. Megadeth lyrics are decent, and not really better or worse than most other thrash lyrics anyway (IMO).

Who cares about Chris' technique (yes, he's the best for me in Megadeth)??? I mean, just get the tabs, learn a few solos by him and after that you'll know all of his tricks. Guitarists can always sound different in their songs, but they all have their "specific" tricks. You just need to learn some of his stuff and then you'll automatically dig into it.

Sorry, couldn't explain any better :thumb:

MAthiAS
01-20-2005, 07:12 PM
Marty's leads are much harder than Poland's leads IMO. Not really for speed, but for sweeping and some tough legato runs.

Lyrically, I like Megadeth a lot. Sometimes the lyrics are shat, but the music makes up for it tenfold. Other times the lyrics are very good. Dave seems to write a bit more abstractly than other thrash bands, and I like that.

--------

Marty's stuff is easier. IMO Poland's solos are the hardest on Megadeth albums.

Marty just uses various styles as you said and different scales.

However, technique vise Poland is harder..............again IMO

BTW, I recently read that as soon as Chris was kicked out from 'deth, he recorded a solo album named Return To Metropolis with his brother on drums which showed his great songwriting skills. Apparently, album was also filled with a few 'deth-like riffs and some serious shredding. I want to hear it :upset:

Yeah, and the solos are sick.
One of my favorite Deth solos. Victory is definitely my favorite song off of Youthanasia.
I hope they bring a US band along like Lamb of God.
I doubt they'd bring LOG. They're on tour now, and they'll probably be back on Ozzfest.

Exodus was a great choice for them to tour with.

i had the chance to go see megadeth in february, but i cant be bothered, mainly because i would end up spending about £100 by the time i got the ticket and travelled to glasgow by train. my mate ollie (Lord Abortion) is going, and so's a teacher at my school.

my favourite songs are moto-psycho and train of consequences

I saw that at Newbury Comics but didn't have the money to buy it. I'm surprised Gars isn't on drums.

Gar died on July 14th, 1999.

I wish I could have gone to the November 12th show in Philly :(

megadeth is the best simply u got every thing in there... alothough ive never been to a megadeth tour i seen some of their concerts in vidoes its brutal people drop kick off the stage . But that just makes it all the more better. I usually run into people who are like man i love megadeAth with the A fags. Megadeth is the best espically tornado of souls and Dread and a Fugitive mind

One of the ex-soviet countries that became independent in 1991. A very little country you won't even find it on the map. :upset:

The only Megadeth Albums I need now are "Risk", and "The World Needs A Hero",....but I don't know if I'll ever end up getting them

Well I need Risk, cryptic writings and TWNAH
to complete my 'deth collection...
no money though so what is the best out of these three IYO?

I'd say Cryptic Writings is the best of those, then Risk, then TWNAH.

Cryptic Writings. Risk is obviously the last of the pile, cause it's crap. The World Needs a Hero is pretty good in parts, but not so much to call it a decent album. So get Cryptic Writings, easily the best of the three.

ahhh my mate JP got a bootleg DVD of a concert in Philly from November and wake up dead and holy wars r on it so they should be playing both at the concerts.

They usually play Holy Wars last. When I saw them at the Warfield Dave came out on stage and started to play the intro reeeeaaaally slow. It was so slow you couldn't tell what song it was. He gradually got a faster and faster until they went full speed, it was great.

Yeah, he did something like that at the show I saw in Philly.

They always play Holy Wars last, and they always play Wake Up Dead. Wake Up Dead was sick live. A song that surprised me (both that they played it and how cool it sounded) was The Scorpion. Live it just has a chugging edge to it that I think it lost on the album.

Yes, Wake Up Dead, was the highlight of the performance when I saw them.

Deffinetly Cyrptic Writings, it's my favorite out of the new 'deth albums easily, it's a lot better than it is said to be

Cryptic writings is just my Fave 'Deth album. It's really a showcasing of Dave's writing skills and IMO it contains some of Marty's best moments. It's a whole world away fromt their thrash sound but to me it is by far their most mature and intelligent release. It's like they actually put some thought into what songs and styles to incorporate into the album, instead of jsut going for the whole thrash sound.
