Good question, I would think that it would be Dave. Do you have the Remixed/remastered Rust in Peace?, It might tell you about it in the book, I have the original so im not sure.

Thanks man I would have hoped those last two albums were going to be new material, but, what can you do.....I knew he said Megadeth was retiring after TSHF tour and I also heard that those last two he owes will probably be an acoustic live show they did in Toronto from 2000 and perhaps Capitol Punishment Part II.

yeah will probably be sanctuary of enslavement or something like that lol.

isnt it funny though that sanctuary gets metal bands that come from other labels, Black Sabbath, KISS, MEGADETH.

From the Megadeth website:

Dave Mustaine - Lead Vocals, Lead, Rhythm and Acoustic Guitars
Glen Drover - Lead and Rhythm Guitars
James MacDonough - Bass Guitar
Shawn Drover - Drums

EDIT: That's the touring line up I think, on the record it's Dave, Chris Poland, Jimmy Sloas on bass and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums.

Hello Droogs.

I believe I haven't posted in a while.

Five Magics
11-08-2004, 08:54 PM
This is straight from Megadeth.com:

To All Droogies everywhere,

I was there, and I was involved in the decision making process with Nick and Dave of replacing Megadeth's drummer.
Nick knew that there was not a lot of time to get prepared for the tour, but he still tried to pull it off. Sadly, he was not prepared for the physical demands of a Megadeth show, and as all Droogies know, Megadeth is not some wimpy top 40 band that walks on a stage and gives a half-assed show.
This is why Nick knew Megadeth had to make this decision. Nick was actually involved in the discussion of bringing Shawn Drover into the camp.
Dave worked very hard with Nick to make this all happen, but it just was not coming together and time was running out to get this tour off the ground, so the change was made for the band and for you the fans. Dave did the right thing.
So to all Droogies throughout the world, MEGADETH IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!

See you on the road.

Great review! Can't blame Dave, I would be pissed too, if someone stopped me from playing a song by tossing a sweater at my guitar, Megadeth has so much character, simply my favorite Thrash Metal Band. I can’t wait till I see Megadeth on the 16th, going to be one hell of a show. :thumb: :chug:

Megadeth's live show is the best I've ever seen!!! Dave's playing was perfect, and I was very, very impressed by Drover's leads. The setlist was pretty much identical to Frail's, maybe with the order changed up a little. Highlights I'd have to say were Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls, Kick the Chair, Reckoning Day, In My Darkest Hour, and of course Peace Sells and Holy Wars. Unfortunately, I had to drive 2 hours to get to the show, so I was kind of in the back. No pit for me... but we did have a great view because there was a ramp type thing in front of us where no one was, and we could stand on it and see everything perfectly. Dave was amazing with the crowd too! I have to agree with Frail in that I'm not a big Exodus fan, and there songs are very similar, but they are a decent band to see live even though the vocalist kind of blew. Anyway, all you guys that haven't seen them yet this tour will not be dissappointed.

I thought that when Megadeth were in their 30's and released Youthansia, they sounded like a bunch of 40-year olds trying to sound heavy, and failed miserably. Now that Mustaine actually is 40, the new album actually sounds like what Youthanasia really should have been. Aaaah, the irony...

I absolutely hate Train of Consequences. I hate it because of that part in the riff when the guitars sound like 'wiki wiki', you know, like a turntable makes.
And I don't see how people love Youthanasia. It's pretty poor. It's light years behind Countdown to Extinction, yet people speak of them in the same breath.
Strange.

just seen the Toronto show last night. All I have to say is wow!!!!!! here's the songs played:

PSBWB- Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells
SFSGSW- Set The World Afire (opener), In My Darkest Hour
RIP- Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls
CTE- Skin O' My Teeth, Symphony of Destruction, Sweating Bullets
YA- Reckoning Day, A Toute Le Monde
HT- Angry Again
CW- Trust
TSHF- Die Dead Enough, Kick The Chair, The Scorpion, Back in the Day, Of Mice and Men

Kinda wish they played longer and added these tracks (something from KIMB, Good Mourning/Black Friday, Five Magics, Ashes in your Mouth, 99 Ways to Die, Dread and the Fugitive Mind). Exodus was alright I guess, but they played waaaaay to long (just over an hour). All in all, an awesome show, anyone that already seen them would know that already anyway. Earlier that day Dave actually appeared on the television show "Off The Record" on TSN (Canada's ESPN),I seen the replay this afternoon, he definately knows what he is talking about in sports.

I hate the riffs, I think they were written like this 'Hey, lets write some riffs, and lets go for the simple but heavy appoach. ... No, those are kind of good, add more crap to them."
Don't get me wrong, Youthanasia has its moments, like A Tout le Monde, among a couple of others, and parts of others, but overall, the tempos are the same in nearly every song, and its just a depressing album.

Die Dead Enough
A Tout le Monde
Back in the Day (with Exodus)
Tornado of Souls

Hangar 18
Of Mice and Men
Symphony of Destruction
Sweating Bullets
Peace Sells
Holy Wars

kirk hammet covers up his lack of ability with an over use of the wah pedal :naughty:

i saw metallica live this year, and hammet was there weekest link, his solos at the start of fade to black and sanitarum gave new meaning to "sloppy", his bends were unforgivably out of tune :smash:

"die die die my darling don't utter a single word" i haven't seen you on the world stage yet........................... waiting for come back oh yeh coz maybe you don't have one. I'm sick of it always being Metallica against Megadeath when frankly Metallica is better been around longer and the only reason "awesome" guitarist Dave Mustaine made Megadeath was because he wasn't good enough for Metallica. You ****en idiot....
Seriously, Mustaine was almost too good for Metallica, his aggressive nature (Leadership) is what influenced Lars/James to kick him out.
Of course Hammett is doing things sloppy. He's been playing the same songs for 20 **** years, wouldn't you start getting sloppy too? Maybe he should just improvise on the solos, like create a replacement that is as effective, but easier (Possible?),
Metallica's sold more albums, of course, who hit MTV first? There's your reason..
Megadeth has alot more hardcore fans then Metallica.

when i saw metallica this year kirk was an utter dissapointment. he was playing wrong notes, out of tune bends - i was suprised, and seeing hm do it has canged my oppinion of the bloke - hes a pretty darn sloppy player :naughty:

 poland is apalling??? he owns hammet. Kirk's pentatonic, blues influenced leads in metallicas post AJFA albums are a joke. KIrks played sum great leads in his time, but poland kicks his sloppy ***.

"Kirk hammet is awsome and is way better than everyone in megadeth combined.

Kirk is better than everyone in megadeth combined???

have you ever listened to rust in peace?? Have a listen, and truthfull try to tell me kirk even goes close to being in the same league as Marty. (listen to the solos in hanger 18, tornado of souls, and even dave mustaine's solos in holy wars and five magics) my point is he couldnt cut it. If you combined Marty's lead abillitys, daves rhythm work, nick, jimmy or Gar's drumming, and Dave E's bass work, you would have a far superiour result than you would achive after combining metallicas members, the reason?? Kirk is nothing on marty, and lars is a joke.

"uses a wah for the sake of art in music" ?????
On S&M kirks over use of his Wah is an absolute joke
"art in music" - what like the finger painting of a 2 year old.......
wah is a pretty good effect, when used in moderation. Kirk doesnt use it in moderation.

Even the other members in metallica dont think kirk can still cut it in terms of lead work! why else didnt they let him try to put solos over the songs on St Anger??? :naughty: (dont give me that "the songs didnt need solos" etc rubbish either)

Ps Im a metallica fan too, but you metallica fan boys get all defensive whenever anyone says anything negative about metallica. Metallica are good, but they are far from the best, and have plenty of flaws, ie Kirks sloppy playing :smoke:

He uses wah to give his solos more emphasis.

And his solos may have been sloppy at your concert, he is getting quite old, and the solos might not be as interesting as they were 15 or so years ago.

When has age had anything to do with guitar playing? Satriani, Vai, Yngwie and Eddie Van Halen, just to name a few, are so much older than kirk and still manage to play the most complicated of solos

The concert on Friday was pretty sweet, thought Megadeth put on a pretty good show, it was great being able to see them in such a small venue, definately a treat. Dave Mustaine started swearing at the audience though when a couple people threw their t-shirts on stage saying "don't throw your ****ing **** at me on stage if you want me to sign it, blah blah blah", he sounded really whiny. Exodus opened up for them, I don't really know their stuff, but didn't think they were as good, the screaming got to me after a while...
My ears were still ringing all day the next day, but its all good..

There was no price on them, because ESP hasn't set it yet, i dont know if they've even started to produce them, but just knowing that they will be there made my day. does anyone else know anything about them, like when they come out or if they will be anymore expensive?

OK...what happened was Hetfield and Ulrich were thinking that because of Dave's behavior that he was going to bring down the band, remember, before Metallica bought out kill 'em all that they were already stars in the underground. Hetfield, Ulrich and Burton got Mustaine up one morning and said your ou of the band, Mustaine was like "what, no warning, no second chance?. They took him and his stuff to the bus and just left him there. This hurt Mustaine, he even said it was more hurtful to him the watching his father die. He started Megadeth to get back at Metallica.

correction, hetfeild and ulrich not burton he was pretty neutral in the whole thing. mustaine liked him when he died he cried and was inspired to write a song.

If you want to get into Megadeth and don't mind spending a little money, buy "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" and "Rust in Peace" to start off. If you like these two albums then continue with "Countdown to Extinction," "So Far So Good...So What!" and "Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!"

But if you are strapped for cash then I would download these songs:

Last Rites/Loved to Deth
Rattlehead
Mechanix

Wake Up Dead
Peace Sells
Devils Island
My Last Words

Holy Wars...the Punishment Due
Hanger 18
Lucretia
Tornado of Souls
Rust In Peace...Polaris

Skin 'O My Teeth
Forclosure of a Dream
Sweating Bullets (Give it a shot)
Countdown to Extinction
Ashes in Your Mouth

Those are what I consider the best from the albums I own. I realize it is a long list, but download some of them or buy those albums...you will not be dissapointed! :D

So Far So Good So What is also a great album...if you're gonna download, highlights from that album are Set the World Afire, In My Darkest Hour, and Hook in Mouth. The other songs are very good too though.

What do people think is going to happen with Megadeth in the next year? Does anybody agree that even though Dave says its the last tour, a new album or another tour is not unlikely? I've read several articles Macdonough and Mustaine saying how great the tours going and how great they are as a band. Or do you think Dave will do what he says he'll do and go on to a solo career.

AB/CD
01-02-2005, 01:23 PM
my opinion on the whole thing is that its already solo career cos david ellefson an a the others left then like nobody from the actual studio album of TSHF is on the tour apart from dave (obviously) so its already solo career plus he had to keep the name megadeth couldnt change it to dave mustaine for TSHF i remember him saying something about it in like November or something on bruce dickinsons rock show

Does anyone know why Dave hired Chris Poland to play lead in TSHF? Cus wasn't he pissed with him for stealing their instruments fro drug money? What made Dave change his mind to hire him

ForiegnPenguin

I guess he put that all aside because he needed a good guitarist and Marty Friedman didn't want to join.

Yeah, after he somewhat based the lyrics of Liar on him, one wonders why Dave would want Chris Poland back. Because lets face it, those are some pretty nasty lyrics.

Dave has said that the only reason TSHF is a Megadeth album is because his contract made it to be or something, but that's the last one. But then he's also said "I wanted people to say that this last album was Megadeth's best" so I don't really know where he stands with it.

Po0sH
01-03-2005, 03:28 AM
Well, I thought Chris Poland's leads were plain horrible. TSHF could have been a much better album than it is (don't get me wrong, I still like it a lot) if Chris put more effort into the leads.

acefrehleyjendell

i've always considered Poland to be a better lead player than Dave.
But TSHF's best solo's all belong to Dave.

I'd have to agree. I think that's a great solo. As to Mustaine's lead work being better than Poland's on TSHF I couldn't agree more. I was pretty suprised. I thought it would be the other way around.

Daves offically said that this is the last year he's gonna be touring under the Megadeth name. Apparently when the US tour finishes it's over to Europe, Japan and Australia, then back to the US for a 'Victory' lap.

Polands solos are different *I* think is because he's been out of Metal for so long, so his Metal solos have turned more Jazz styled. That aside, I do prefer Mustaines solos to Polands on TSHF.

"Megadeth plans on doing the Euro/UK tour as you know, then tentatively to Japan and Oz, and hopefully South America, to be finished with one last victory lap of the states this summer."

That's from Daves own mouth.
