There was a site that had similarities on it. Apparently Megadeth's Dawn Patrol sounds like the bass intro to My Friend Of Misery despite
1)Megadeth's Dawn Patrol came first
2)They sound completely different

i would see it as a coincidence if Dave hadn't been in 'tallica before, but seeing as he was with them during the production of Motorbreath, its almost certainly his interpretation of it.

Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"I spent the last few days tracking with Glen [Drover, guitar] and Shawn [Drover, drums], and it is the coolest thing to see them be a part of it for real now. And yesterday especially, was an interesting guitar day, when I witnessed the moment the songs went from an idea in my head to Glen getting it. And he is such a great player that each song immediately comes to life as soon as he played on it.
"Got some good news to report coming up this week and I wanted to personally thank every one of you that helped our new DVD 'The Arsenal Of Megadeth' debut at #6 in America.
"This is going to be a great year!"
Right after Dave's announcement has been posted, Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has made a little addition to his band's mainman words:
"Just returned from the LA tracking trip, and I must say that work on the new studio album is moving along at a very good and productive pace. Glen [Drover, guitar] worked very long hours for four days straight, but the results were certainly worth the borderline delerium that was slowly starting to creep in to Glen's melon (which is always mildly amusing for me to watch -- not so much fun to partake in though). My turn is approaching quickly so I think I will retract from any further comments
"Some cool things are heading my way in relation to the studio/drum recordings, but I won't divulge this infomation until it actually does happen -- if and when it does indeed happen. Believe me, it is very kick-***!
"All of us are indeed in good spirits and are looking forword to making the best record we can."
Megadeth's appearance at this year's Desert Rock 2006 festival on March 16 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates marked their debut performance with new bassist James Lomenzo, who has previously played with Black Label Society and White Lion, among others. Lomenzo joined Megadeth as the replacement for James MacDonough (ex-Iced Earth), who was fired from the group on February 10, 2006 due to "personal differences."
Meh, didn't know if anyone would see this.

My guess for the Holy Wars demo is sometime in '89. Menza was already in, but Dave hadn't found Marty yet, so I'm guessing it was early-mid '89. I honestly like the Poland "synthish" solos better than the recorded Friedman solos, I just think the tone is insanely awesome.

I am sort of new to megadeth anyone wanna suggest some starting points, good songs, what cds to buy first etc...
To get into them I'd try countdown to extinction or peace sells. Probably countdown to extinction because by alot of people it's considered there best album, and if you like them after that try Rust in Peace a truly amazing album. Some individual songs:
Symphony of Destruction
Countdown to extinction
Psychotron
Peace sells... but who's buyin?
The conjuring
Holy Wars... The punishment due
Five magics
Tornado of souls
The system has failed
A tout le monde (for a lighter side)

Yeah but I think people gettin into them should get CtE cuz it's kind of their most 'mainstream', for lack of a better word, album.

Probably that's what happened with Anthrax.
Now Playing: RUST IN ****ING PEACE...POLARIS
Once again, this is my favorite Megadeth song.
Just as I read this, Rust in Peace.. Polaris comes on :o
'Tis indeed a great song, although I think the demo version (If you have Rust in Peace Remastered) is better then the CD version, the drums are more interesting imo.
P.S. Dave's vocals are so good :smoke:

Yeah, I got into Megadeth through Metallica. I forgot about Metallica, though, after I heard "Holy Wars...the Punishment Due." That song is my favourite song right now, and it has been for about a year and a half. I listen to many genres, but I just love the way that song is put together, not to mention all of Megadeth's other songs. I have loved every song I have ever heard from Megadeth! :D

Sorry, I didn't mean that I forgot about Metallica. I used to listen to them 24/7 and I liked Megadeth so much when I first heard them that Metallica ceased to exist to me for about 5 months or so. It was also around this time that I discovered Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Rush, Nine Inch Nails, etc. I got into them again toward the end of last year because my friends from University listen to them a lot. Now I don't really listen to them at all anymore as my musical tastes have expanded to include rap, jazz, and even some pop music, heh. I still enjoy Metallica on the odd occasion, though. I just don't think every song is a masterpiece like I used to.
Hopefully that made sense.
