Anyone who has spent even a little time exploring thrash metal knows that Metallica are not the true representation of thrash or whatever. Also, lets drop this 'cause arguing with a moron who has "#1 Metallica Fan" as a usertitle is never gonna get you anywhere.

As for him on the Some Kind of Monster DVD, I think that metallica shouldn't have released it to the public, especially without james being there, if they had something to say to him they should have done it in private.

While a member of Metallica as lead gutarist:

"Dave was an incredibly talented guy, but he also had an incredibly large problem with alcohol and drugs"
"He'd get wasted and become a real crazy person, a raging maniac, and the other guys just couldn't deal with that after a while. I mean, they all drank of course, but I guess they could all hold their liquor better than Dave, and I could see they were beginning to get fed up of seeing Dave drunk out of his mind all the time."
- Brain Slagel

So they fired him.

Also, after recording "So Far, So Good...So What?" Mustaine underwent drug rehab, and the band disbanded for a bit in 1988.

So yeah just a few drug problems.

All the more inspiration to write angry music. You know that you're making great angry music when the guitarist(s) are regularly breaking strings and the drummer is replacing drum heads left and right. :thumb:

Yeah, same here. I wanna see Lars cry for his horrible drumming in St. Anger.

I can understand why Dave still wanted to be in Metallica, but he actually formed a better (as far as technicality goes) band so he should just be happy with that.

yeah, lars should be shot with a sound as loud as his awful snare in st anger.

Yeah, one quote that stuck out for me was when dave said "Seeing everything you [metallica] touch turn to gold, and everything I touch turn to ****". I thought, WTF?, Megadeth are like one of the highest reguarded thrash/metal bands. I would never think of Megadeth as an inferior (sp?) band to metallica in any way IMO (well maybe a little in record sales but whatever), and it seemed he was being a little harsh on himself.

it's true about reputations though. you ask someone on the streets who metallica is probably 98% of people will know them. megadeth....wayyyy less. and its not as if megadeth is that much worse of a band, its just the issue of who makes more popular music.

I kinda know what you mean. Like if some R n' B whole from school asks what I'm listening to and I say metallica they are like "Oh, like Enter Sandman", but if I say Megadeth they are like :amaze:

Again this isn't a popular way of looking at it, but its partly due to the post-black album era. if you said to a random person in the street "Creeping Death", they probabily wouldn't know it was metallica, but if you said "Enter sandman", most would know it's metallica.

I couldn't see most people recognising a megadeth song title.

So now I can play Holy Wars right along with the audio

I find it impossible to sing along with the verse rhythm. But that doesn't matter to me coz I am not a vocalist.

Can you play all the solos?

I just needed to get it.

I'm working on those solo's but sense I've gotton so fast so quick my muscles
are really week. So I'm taking a break from guitar for a week or so (fingers
are so sore) so I'm just working on theory

Yep chromatics and scales and basic chords are it for a good solid half
a hour. I go through stages where I don't learn alot for a couple weeks
then all of a sudded my playing gets tons better...and I had been waiting
about 3 months so it's all coming together for me.

That's very cool, and I do it always when I play guitar, I'll play the same riff, or solo so many times over, even if I think I have got it (I usually find I don't though :upset: ), but I'm sort of wondering, is there anything I can do to learn to compose my own music? (I know the obvious answer; theory, and I am trying that too, but it's not working so well  ) if I write a song I'll find it's usually always just gay powerchords.. And it's kinda boring me...

Edit: I have most difficulty with picking speed, unfortunately.
I always thought my fretting hard would suffer more, so focused so much on that initially, but now I'm fairly confident in my fretting, I find it's my picking that is holding me back at the moment.

Britton
11-03-2005, 01:44 PM
It just takes practice man lots of practice.

To make songs theory really isn't required you learn theory for a better
understanding of music But I wouldn't say it's necisary to make you're own
songs.

I was unable to make my own music (with it sounding good) for the longest
time...but that's only cause it takes time and playing and patiance. theres
stuff you know already that will help you write a song and you don't even know it. For me it's not to hard to make the music..but it's really hard to make word fit to it.

So think of tricks you know find a song that sounds some what what you would like to make then more or less copy that type of structure and just jam and let it build. Never be afraid to try something new expose you're self
to all different types of music

and most of all just be inspired. When you have something and you think it's
ready let some one hear it and ask for opinions

I don't know if this helps...I'm not good with words

Tab things by ear. Start with simple things, but things that you like. For example, I started by tabbing out loads of hardcore punk. Then move on to more complex stuff... like anything... it takes practice but you really get to analyze a song and it gives you ideas for original material, plus having a good ear is a must for being able to translate ideas from your head to your guitar.

Yeah, I've been practicing way more since school started, weird as it sounds. Over the summer it was 3-4 hours a day. I never do homework at home, at least before midnight, so it gives me the time.

Sometimes I'll fall asleep though and only manage 2-3

I usually like to dedicate at least 6 hours a day to music though, between piano and guitar. I post on here during my 10 minute breaks I have to take every hour because of my leg falling asleep.

If I get a new guitar I'll put 13s on it so I can get my callouses going, and strengthen my fingers some more.

Wow, taking into account your cover of Holy Wars, you do the huge bends.. Maybe I'm just thinking about myself here (I do bends with one finger usually), but they would hurt your fingers if you didn't have strong callouses?

Some punk was shining a laser at him during some song, than after it he said this, in a really funnny voice.

"I see you D-i-c-khead"
"What? you go get your alowance from your mom,
buy a laser, shine it at dave....I bet your still a virgin arent you Peckeroid.
"Ok, so I'm gonna have the people around you beat your fvckin' brains in so I can play guitar, alrigh. . . .DUH!
"you see, I'm up here behind this microphone and I can say WHATEVER...I...WANT!"

~or something very similar to that.

I'll send you a gmail invitation if you want. It is way better than Hotmail, you get more space, it is far more efficient at getting rid of spam mail and there are just tons more features :).

No.

MD.45 was a band Dave was in with Lee Ving from Fear. They only released one album. Dave did the vocals on the remastered version, however.
