He probably programmed a drum machine to do that rhythm and then told Menza to play it like it was on the drum machine. Anyway, how is that "My Creation" song? I don't have the RIP remaster

RIP remaster also comes with a few demos, like Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners and Rust in Peace... Polaris, I think the demos are pretty good.

I dunno, it's not that great. Something about the guitars, just sounds so empty, and the singing is (imo) Mustaine's worst.

That wasn't Megadeth.

Megadeth would never cover a Metallica song, and I guess vise versa.

The cover of the Metallica song "Battery" that you're asking about is from the album "Metal Militia - A Tribute to Metallica II" that was released in 1996. "Battery" was covered by a band called Blakk Totem on that album, not by Megadeth.

10-26-2005, 05:24 AM
What about The Mechanix?
you know the story behind that, it's not a cover, merely dave not wanting to give up a great song he wrote, and i guess metallica didn't mind changing around the lyrics and such.

Chu
10-26-2005, 05:27 AM
What about it?
The Mechanix is Mustaine's song, he wrote it.
The Four Horsemen takes a lot from The Mechanix, but at the same time, is still Metallica's song.

Megadeth has never covered The Four Horsemen, Metallica have never covered The Mechanix. (Although on the Metallica demos they play The Mechanix  ).

yeah, i just listened to it for the first time since i bought the RiP remaster. not too good. dave's vocals are pretty weak, but at the same time i get sort of a Good Mourning/Black Friday vibe from it, it's really menacing-sounding. it sounds like it'd be good as a quick intro-to-album song, not really one on its own.

yeah, i dunno, pretty bad but there's worse from deth.

I like the one in Take No Prisoners and Tornado of Souls a lot. I would say those two along with Holy Wars are the three best.

Now that we've done best song on RIP, lets do best song on PS...BWB?. My favorites are Black Friday and My Last Words.

Has anyone noticed that Peace Sells is extremely violent even for Megadeth? I mean some of the other stuff is pretty violent to, but Peace Sells has some really violent songs like Black Friday.

Yeah. I mean think about it just based on song titles. Black Friday (not saying it's a bad song, on the contrary) and just for giggles Meat Hook Sodomy or Fu*ked with a knife.

Sorry but CC gets the win for most violent.

It's really just MegaDave, becaue he is the only original member, but I have a feeling that Megadeth's next album will be even better than the TSHF, because the Drover's write some awesome stuff in Eidolon, and apparently Dave is letting them have a lot of input into the music. MacDonough wasn't noticeable in Iced Earth save for a few licks here and there, because Schaffer is the head of that band and everything goes his way, so he kind of a pompous arrgoant jerk to his band members....well, at least that's what I've heard from the people who have worked with him, but I'm curious to see what MacDonough brings to the table as well.

I've seen them live twice since Megadeth reformed and as much as I like Dave I have to admit that he is the weak link of the band

Wow, I don't know if I agree there, I think he fulfills his role perfectly, he plays and sings practically note for note live and looking back on the catalogue of Megadeth, look at all the songs with just his name as credits. Eleffson is a long shot after the sueing but Friedman may be a possibility. And maybe Menza too.
I still can't believe Eleffson sued him. What's the deal with Menza as of now? I heard Marty wanted more money than Dave was willing to pay.

I'm not sure how Menza is in terms of speaking with Dave, but I think the knee injury guess is right. I'd have to look through megadeth.com but I'm pretty sure Menza couldn't tour for BTU because he had a knee injury of some sort.

I was watching VH1's Behind the Music and Dave said something to the effect of : "me and Nick weren't getting along towards the end of his stay in the band and it got to a point where he hated me, so I asked him to leave"...or something.

I hope a RIP lineup reunion eventually happens. I think most people consider that lineup the Megadeth lineup.

CURRENTLY FAVE BANDS/ARTISTS
Jay Chou, Halcali, Holly Vallance, Andrew WK, Garbage, Bz, anything produced by Tsunku, Donnas, Weezer, Sahara Hotnights, Daze, Ayumi Hamasaki, Merry, anything produced by Phil Spector, Britney Spears, Tommy February, Puffy, 21st Century Girls, Mono, Do As Infinity, Aquanote, Supreme Beings of Leisure, Portishead, Junkyard Willie, Secret Garden (the instrumental tracks only), Morcheeba, Kiroro, W, I Wish, Cherry Red, Dai Ai Ling, Vivian Hsu

What are some songs you guys think Megadeth should play live that they don't? I would like to hear Mechanix, Take No Prisoners, Five Magics, and Black Friday. I understand that Mechanix probably isn't played because it's not that popular and Black Friday has references to the devil and killing. Why not Take No Prisoners and Five Magics though? Those songs are both very popular and aren't offensive.

By the way, I got the Rude Awakening Cd/DVD set today, that's what gave me the idea.

when was the last time you used megaupload?

Its pretty simple:

1.browse your comp for the zipped album.
2.accept to their terms of service (check the box that says I agree)
3.enter a meaningful description ( write a word in the description area)
4.then send it, it actually shows you a bar on how long it will take to finish uploading, unlike YSI.

I suppose they were one of the more popular thrash bands.

Doesn't mean they're any better though.

On Tallica: 10 thrash songs over 22 years hardly qualifies a band as thrash. And half those were written by Dave.

Anyone who has spent even a little time exploring thrash metal knows that Metallica are not the true representation of thrash or whatever. Also, lets drop this 'cause arguing with a moron who has "#1 Metallica Fan" as a usertitle is never gonna get you anywhere.

agreed. metallica doesn't represent thrash at all, iuno why anyone would say that. yes they have some thrash songs, it doesn't make them a thrash band though.

In my opinion the only thing that's really thrash is KEA and several select
songs
