That's one of the reasons why people hate Megadeth, they hear his voice and just assume it's crap without giving it a try. At first I thought he was a crappy singer but his voice grew on me.

yea its like Cob (even though these two bands dont sound anything alike) both bands have horrible vocals but great music. what got me into megadeth is the cryptic writings. i kno its not there best album but the first 5 songs are great on that album.

The first one I heard was Hangar 18, which was years ago, but never gave it a chance or listened to it more than twice and then deleted it.

Then when I was into metal a little more I heard Peace Sells then Holy Wars, and liked it. :thumb:

Megadeth has kept metal alive for me.

Every time i try to listen to the new era of metal, i reel back in horror and disgust at how piss poor it all is, Megadeth is like... That breath of fresh air after walking out of a overused porta-potty. Also megadeth has constantly put fourth a strong song set, Even when they came out with a bad album (i.e Risk) They put 2 good albums in front of it, Going back and listening to the first few albums, and then listening TSHF(which i love, anyone else notice the little stab sent out to james/metallica in the album :) ) Rules, I think megadeth should hold the Best metal band title.

Dave continues to make great sh!t happen, therefore he is god, am i right?

Yeah, I was wondering about that too, unless he plans to organize it and not participate after this. Well, this is what Dave's said about Gigantour. It sounds like he's making himself clear on this.

This will probably be Megadeth's last tour, unless Dave changes his mind for some reason. Hey, he said the BTU tour was their last, so I wouldn't be too surprised either way.

Even if it is the end, I'm sure Dave will continue with Gigantour if it is successful (which it should be), and he'll still tour with his solo band (probably the same guys under the different name), and still play Megadeth songs, in addition to MD45 and solo stuff.

On a different note, I'm going to try to get final recordings up here for Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, and Five Magics by Sunday at the latest, because I'll be away from Monday to Friday next week. We gotta get these covers rolling.

Holy Wars - http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3P9VYZS92441W1M63V6INIIAUX
First take baby! A couple spots sounded a little rough, but I'll consider it poetic license.

Sorry guys, I can't get Five Magics up in full, if someone else knows the guitar, by all means do it.

But... to make up for my Five Magics bail, I give you another one take gem, and its a bit of a surprise... Paranoid! Hey, a cover of a cover, just make sure the vocals are Mustaine-esque. The repetitions is probably wrong though, because I didn't even play along with the song, and the solo is probably off time too (considering its totally improv and slightly out of key), but try and make it work.

Sliptallica said he'd try the drums, talk to him if you see him, and Creepin Deth I think is doing bass. If anyone's bailing, hit the thrash thread and ask around in there for more dudes if we need. You drumming for the covers man?

What kind of gear did you use to record?
It was pretty noob actually, DS-1 (Tone 5, Dist 0, Vol 10) into Roland Cube 15 (Gain 10, Bass 10, Mids 6.5, Treble 7.5), into Line in on my computer. Last time around I used my Line 6, but this practice amp I got the other day was easier to carry over to my comp and set up, so I went with it. Its got a really middy tone, even with the bass up that high its not all that bassy. Lotta bite to it, especially using the DS-1 this way, pretty nice tone IMO for $100. Not as great for leads though, I still need more gain lol.

Yeah, i think it works so much better with both the solos, (they play them both on rude awakening), and i prefer the distortion. Its seems alot more raw and un-"produced" like Rust in Peace and albums before it.

Lol that's probably the most useless reasons for it to be worth 3 grand. Inlays are purely cosmetic, pickups can be changed easily, and paint jobs are also cosmetic. If I went custom I'd go for a korina body, 3/4 inch flame maple top, and pao ferro fingerboard.

SchecterGuitarist, there's nothing wrong with liking Metallica and Megadeth. I personally love both. Don't listen to other people's opinions. Go with what you truly like.

And for albums, I suggest you start off with Megadeth's Rust in Peace.

People kept telling me in my thread that I should post this in the OFFICIAL Megadeth thread, so here you go:

I just recently read that Dave Mustaine (lead singer/guitarist of Megadeth) is suing his former bandmate Dave Ellefson (bassist) over an ad in the July issue of "Bass Player" magazine.

The ad shows Dave Ellefson holding a pedal tuner and a bass. And to the left of the photo it shows a list of all the names of bands that he's been with...including the Megadeth name and logo.

And this is why Dave Mustaine is suing his former bassist, for using the Megadeth logo in an ad? Does Dave thinks he owns the entire band?

Now I love Megadeth's music and I think Dave Mustaine is one great guitar player. But this whole thing just seems really stupid to me.

I just wanted to know your guys opinion on Dave Mustaine's reputation. Like I said, I like his music, I just don't like his attitude.

Revenge maybe? Who knows, all I really care about is the music and I'm so sick of all the bad publicity around Megadeth. Some of it is Dave's own fault but most of it is the stupid media like that ****in Blabbermouth.

Gigantour was awesome :thumb:

lets see...........this is what I knew they played in no particular order

blackmail the universe
die dead enough
the scorpion :thumb:
kick the chair
In my darkest hour
A tout le monde
wake up dead
peace sells
hangar 18
tornado of souls
holy wars
symphony of destruction
sweating bullets
skin o my teeth
angry again

this is what I think they played:
hook in mouth or 99 ways to die (the intro sounds the same so I'm not sure)
a song from KIMB

I was suprised that they played a lot of stuff from TSHF, I liked it a lot. I thought they would play mostly old stuff.

If you get into Megadeth, you'll realize Kirk is not "Gawd-Lyk"

Kirk Hammett in mine and most peoples opinions as far as I can tell, is overrated.

His solos do not go with the solos like Friedman's do. They just don't fit. Not to mention on one of their dvd's he wears eyeliner with Billie Joe Armstrong.

Not to mention he has a fuckin belly button ring.

Get Rust In Peace, but any of the first four Megadeth albums are good.

no, it was the last song they played and they said that they were running late.

To Creeping Deth:I went to the July 30th albuquerque showing. I live in albuquerque so I didn't have to travel far.

To Chu: Yes I saw Dream theater, and they were awesome aswell. I saw all of the bands. Dream theaters set was very good. they started with glass prison, then I think they played some songs off of octavarium which i was unfamiliar with, but it was cool nonetheless. They finished their set with pull me under, which was ****ing awesome. One of the funny things about dream theater was when their lead singer didn't need to sing for a while, he would just leave and go back stage for like 5 minutes, then come back out and start singing again.

They were good, but it was nothing special. It seemed like they just walked on stage, played their songs, and then left. They had almost no "band to audience" interaction. They played their songs well, it was entertaining.

Question: Is dillinger escape plan on the gigantour, because they weren't ther when i went, but I have seen posters with them on it.

To Mathias: I had never really heard anything from them, so I didn't really know what to expect. They were enjoyable, but they didn't really get the crowd pumping like most of the other bands.

They opened with that at Download. No pyro though. Apparently they timed the intro plane bit with a plane flying over seeing as Download was next to an airport. I dunno if it's true or not because i was paying too much attention to the band.

It's true and it was cool as hell. That was a ****in great show, they were the most popular band on that day and I still can't believe they weren't headlining that's so stupid but anyways 2 weeks after that I got to see them at a club with around 1000 people and it was awesome, don't know which was better but I'll tell ya headbanging along with Glen and then James just a couple of feet away from them that was ****in awesome.

Droogies!

Well, the first stage of this tour is behind us and thank God for that. As with all tours I have ever been on over the past 20 years, all tours have bugs in the beginning. Fortunately we have top notch professional people out here from every band and we are now in smooth waters.

My dream for Gigantour is alive and all of the bands are having a great time. But I don't know who is having a better time; you the fans or us band guys. The backstage enviroment is one of the best I have ever been in and I will tell you that we are all, and I mean every band, playing better every night. The DVD is going to be awesome!!!

Thank you for supporting this dream, thank you for staying metal!

Tomorrow night in Dallas I am supposed to play a song with Dream Theater on behalf of Darryl. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have fun since I have never jammed with another band like this. Wish me luck!
That's so good. I don't know if anyone else would really like that, but I so hope that's on the Gigantour dvd, or at least a Live bootleg of it gets released.

Maybe just a jam or even a Megadeth song with keyboard solos and LaBrie singing. :D
