Oh yeah, I forgot about the Wake up Dead video. That's the one where the fans are breaking down the fence right?
Yep, Dave said that in the beginning you can see a guy wearing a bra, but I didn't see it.
Oh yeah, Hangar 18 has an awesome video too.

I like Hangar 18, except the aliens are a bit cheesy.

I know, but in comparison to Sweating Bullets and DDE, Hangar 18's really not that cheesy. I just downloaded A Tout Le Monde video, very very very cool.

Marty played up until Risk, which was '99.
Cryptic Writings was '97.
Al Pitrelli played on TWNAH.

munky_magik
05-12-2005, 03:20 PM
Marty left bacuase he just wasn't enjoying the band anymore. He wanted to branch out and try different things that he couldn't do in 'Death.
At least that's what I read somewhere, I have no idea if it's true or not :-/

He's not with Marty. He briefly re-joined 'Death for TSHF, but then left again.
vashts80
05-12-2005, 04:03 PM
Nick, IIRC, got kicked out after Cryptic Writings for lying about drugs. I believe he said that he was robbed at a MacDonalds or something to that effect and that was why he didn't show up for a gig or something, when he instead was either getting drugs or was high already.
Marty left after the Risk tour because he didn't like the direction that the band was going in and he wanted to branch out and do different things that Dave didn't want to do.
This is when Jimmy and Al joined respectively.
Nick was going to come back for the TSHF tour, but he wasn't able to physically play that stuff anymore. Vinnie Colaiuta did the drumming on TSHF and now Shawn is drumming live.

Me and my friend were saying the same thing. Look at his pinky in the rattlehead video when he's playing the solo. Its funny because he can stretch is so far because he broke it before or something. So like, no other guitarist can play that song because they can't reach the note with their pinky.

Actually, going back onto the point about Chris Poland being bored. I also noticed this in videos. It's most likely because he's more into Jazz/Fusion than Metal itself. He only took the role in Megadeth cause he descibed the music as challenging.
Still! Amazing Guitarist.
I agree, he's an amazing guitarist, hell anyone who's worked with Mustaine is an amazing artist in my opinion, he definately knows how to find the best.
On that note, I think the SFSGSW guitarist (Jeff Young?) was the best :p

I think you'd be the only one in this thread to think that. I respect your opinion though, nobody is wrong. I personally think Marty was the best Guitarist in 'Deth. Chris didn't do enough in the band to warrant me picking him....Same with Jeff. Plus, I think Marty is the best talent wise, as he's considered a Guitar Virtuoso, yet didn't even have training.
I know in terms of skill, Friedman is the best.
But what I prefer isn't always just skill, I think that SFSGSW has the best solos to date, also the best riffs, it's possibly all Mustaine who does the solos, and if that's the case, more props to him.

Actually, that's a good point. Dave did most of the solos on albums before Marty was introduced into Megadeth. He is really underrated as a Lead Guitarist. I love the solo after the intro on the Conjuring. Yeah, SFSGSW has great riffs, but I still can't go past Rust for the best riffs. Some of them are mindboggling.

Yeah, the guitars were noticably fuzzier on RIP.
Also the songs structures seemed really different, Most of the songs didn't go verse, chorus, verse chorus etc etc. Besides Tornado Of Souls, Rust In Peace... Polaris and the first half of Hanger 18. In fact most of the songs don't even have a chorus!

Yeah, I think pretty much every 'Deth album has at least one song with awesome riffs, lately I've been listenning to 1000 Times Goodbye alot and I love the intro of that song, up until the first chorus and solo following it is awesome, after that, meh, I usually skip it.

Funny story about Anthrax :
My girlfriend's ex recently saw them in Melbourne, and arrived at the venue rather early. As Anthrax arrived, the doors to the venue were locked and nobody was opening them, so he helped Joey and Scott kick the doors to the venue open. During the show, one of the guys (not sure, i think it was Scott Ian) Reached out and grabbed his hand and placed a guitar pick in his hand.
I'm really jealous because last month he just happened to meet Dave Mustaine and Glen Drover, and caught one of Mustaine's picks at the show.
now all he needs to do is get a pick from Slayer and he'll have Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer picks.
