i have the same problem...my voice cuts out midway through the scream...and most of the time its a hiss rather than a scream...im going for emo/screamo screams by the way.

The first thing is...

STOP!!!

Before you Fuk up your career(or hobby).

You should never have pain when doing anything vocal. point blank.
You have to open your throat to do any scream properly.
the second thing is go to the link i have down at the bottom. Its a current thread in this forum. Read my replies and i hope you'll be on your way to safer vocals. I bet my life that you are succuming to the most popular of mistakes. and that is allowing the tense feeling of a scream to make you tense up your throat. you have alot of muscles in your throat and you HAVE to learn to isolate the vocal ones from the other ones in order to advance. trust me on this. i have a couple of other voice replies in this forum if you want to do a search.

well i do extreme vocals and its always a good idea not do too much when your starting out. and you gotta warm up properly otherwise you'll wreck your voice

I still don't really understand how to do it. I think part of my problem is i always have like snot in my throat. thats what makes it hiss somewhat. But I don't understand how to scream right.

I can't seem to get my screams any louder than just barely a whisper. If i try to make it louder it just doesn't work. Any suggestions?

well to keep this short but thorough. I used to scream when i was younger, 16 and 17. I was never terribly good at it but it was starting become very conditioned and i had good stamina. Anyway after the band broke up i stopped practicing until lately (im now 21) ive been asked to be in a band again so ive restarted my practices. Ive noticed that i can't scream anymore, and i feel as though i am starting all over.
Anyway my question is that i've always had a problem that i can't find on this forum. When i scream for prolonged periods of time, my head will begin to hurt terribly but only inbetween screaming. I found that even if i hummed alittle between screaming parts the headache would not come, but as soon as i stopped for even a few seconds, it was like putting my head in a vice. My throat and talking voice are always fine after a practice, so i don't believe im hurting my voice, i just wish there was something i could do about the headaches. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?

yeah, pal, i read all those. And i repeat, if you didn't catch it before "i have a problem that i cant find on this forum." Ive been through every screaming thread i could get my hands on. I assume since my voice doesn't hurt that its not too big a problem, and ill just have to deal with it. no biggie. I was just hoping somehow someone might have an insight for me. sarcasm unapreaciated.

I seems you're doing too much tension, and your brain is going out of oxygen. This happened to me when i started to sing, years ago. You need to relax your muscles, do not tensionate them at this level. It's the same thing when you hold your breath and tensionate all your muscles, pushing the air but without exhaling. Gives a badass headache....
