i think your thinking of paul.

Yes, Paul was arrested after crashing his Porsche, and had said drugs in his car. They were small amounts though.

About Donnie...yeah, it was Josh, my bad. I knew it wasn't Jim who played on the album, however.

If Corey is Christian, he's a super-liberal Christian. I mean, writing songs like he does, singing "If you're 555, I'm 666"...Yeah. I mean, I sing the chorus myself, but I didn't write it...

Corey is Christian????????? That is one messed up Christian he writes songs about the devil. There band named is Slipknot and has a pentacle behind it. Like the other guy said "The Heratic Anthem" keyword "Heratic" 666=Satan.

I wouldn't call him a messed up Christian. I mean, if every Christian guy who doodled a pentacle in class/at work was messed up....

Remember that not everyone is observant of their religion.

The Gently from MFKR owns the hell out of the version of Iowa.Hands down. The only downside is Anders. His vocals dont do it for me.

Tattered and Torn(MFKR) < Tattered and Torn(s/t)

Iowa > Killers are Quiet

Only One(MFKR) > Only One(s/t)

I believe you mean heretic not Heratic. And heretic doesn't necessarily mean you're satanic, by defination it means: a person who holds religious beliefs in conflict with the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church

Just because someone is Christian doesn't mean he can't sing songs about the devil. I really like that song and I'm a Christian, just because it talks about Satan doesn't mean it has to effect your religion.

I'm Christian, but I love the Heretic Anthem.

Okay, first of all, why do you even bother coming into a possitive thread, only to bash the band that's featured? Second of all, Slipknot only has 9 members, not 10, and ppl is not a real word, which brings me to my next point, you need to learn proper English. Oh, and by the way, no one here cares whether or not you like Nirvana.

MFKR is a great record. I don't really like Anders' singing, however, but the rest of the album, especially the basslines are awesome.

It's really hard to imagine that it's the same Paul Gray on MFKR and on the subsequent albums.

It seems to me that the only problem you have with Vol.3 is the fact that you no longer feel unique for liking Slipknot.SO WHAT IF THEY GET RADIO PLAY!!!Its people like you that plague the Slipknot fanbase.I noticed that MANY of the idiot fans are now abandoning Slipknot after making Vol.3.Thats good(imo)Clown himself said that the fans who understood what Slipknot was doing on it will continue to stick them.So far he is correctomundo!!

Well said. :thumb: People don't want to like to Slipnkot anymore because they're becoming popular, but the loyal fans seem to understand. Sure this isn't their best album, but it is radio friendly (unlike some previous albums) and if they're getting radio play it's not a big deal. This same radio play is also drawing in new fans, some of which will search deeper to find out about Slipknot's past albums, and perhaps they'll come to enjoy the finer points of Slipknot. Don't get me wrong, Vol. 3 is a great album with a lot of diversity, but (imo) it doesn't seem to compare to previous works by them. It's kind of nice to see Slipknot is trying expand their horizons...

 Welcome!

I see your point, but you have to give them credit for trying something new. They new they were either going to make a great album that people thought was amazing or people would think it was crap. They took a risk, and even though the sound is very different, it's still not a total failure. And it doesn't help that Corey's voice isn't as good as it used to be, because his vocal chords are getting really damaged.

So...I downloaded an apparent cover of Panteras ''****ing Hostile'' by Slipknot, and instead of being a brutally fast song...

...its Blues/Cool Jazz.

I'm guessing its a mis-named file, but I know that the 'knot had Jazz influences back in the MFKR days, so it may be them playing the song but I really don't know. Also, there are no lyrics.

But still, its a good piece of Blues/Cool Jazz :)

Vol:3 is the true Slipknot. Rick Rubin let them do what they wanted, they are stil the same, they play songs from every album live. When a band plays live, thats the band.

Vol:3 is the best, along with the rest.

http://www.slipknot-metal.com has the new Vermilion Pt 2 video.

It made less sense than a Tool video, and that's hard to do, since Tool videos are usually the epitome of not making sense. Kudos to Slipknot for making something that rivals the awesomeness of not making sense that is usually reserved for Tool music videos.

Don't get me wrong, Vol. 3 is a great album with a lot of diversity, but (imo) it doesn't seem to compare to previous works by them. It's kind of nice to see Slipknot is trying expand their horizons...

I'm going to totally agree, but not in the same context.

Volume 3 does NOT compare to their previous works. It is head and shoulders above both the Self-Titled album and Iowa.

The first two albums were commercial successes because they appealed to the crowd of kids who wanted music to be hardcore, but accessable. Slipknot did that. No, I am not saying Slipknot is in the hardcore genre, but they did appeal to the masses with screaming, fast double bass and dual distorted guitars. Their M.O. was to create loud, fast music, that was catchy in some way. And they did a good job of it.

The only reason their earlier music wasn't, for the most part, "radio friendly" was because they said "****" every other lyric in most of their songs. That meant that they would've had to butcher their songs to get them on the radio, which wouldn't have been good. "Wait and Bleed" was a good single because he didn't swear in the song, which means they didn't have to really edit it to put it on the radio. It was short, had a very catchy chorus, and was loud and fast. That meant radio success.

Now, look at the Volume 3 stuff. I'm not sure I would call any of it "radio friendly", along the same vein as Linkin Park, or Trapt, or anything like that...but the lack of swearing definetly makes it easier to get on the radio. The fact that they are getting radio play is not a bad thing by any means, especially not with songs as strong as the ones off Volume 3. I fail to see why anyone would equate radio play with failure :thumb:

That is pretty much my opinion exactly, although, I not sure they do get a whole lot of radio play.

No such song exists...

Not one of the Slipknot sites I go to mention it, and they go into good detail about rare or unreleased tracks...and not one collaboration with Korn is mentioned.

If you downloaded it, I think it's good to assume it was a misnamed file...

There is no Slipknot/Korn collaboration. You're thinking of the song "Lookaway" by Sepultura, which features Jonathan Davis. The song is on their album Roots. I can see why someone would make that mistake, but trust me on this, it's not Slipknot playing that song.

By the way, I just saw the "Vermillion Pt. 2" video.
It was awful.
God awful.
The girl from "Vermillion" is lying in a field by a big tree. She starts floating around for three minutes.
End of story.
Definitely their worst video, and that's hard, coming from a great band whose videos always suck horribly.

Slipknot is an amazing band. They have the best drummer I think I have ever heard. With their constant double bass kicks that blow out the eyes. To respond to what you said about Joey: Listen to Nick Barker, he is a much better drummer. I would reccomend buying the new Dimmu Borgir CD to show his true talent.
To respond to what you said about Corey: His lyrics are mediocre. Listen to Iowa (just read the lyrics to the song "Disasterpiece") and you will see what I mean. Some of his works just arent that great.

Yeah, well Mick Thompson has a kick a-ss guitar style. I play guitar for like 2 years now, and its just fun to play people = sh-it or, the heretic anthem. I heard that during recording his voice just completely changed and they had to keep recording from there. Thats why his screams sound so different from the other two albums.

All i said was that his lyrics are mediocre. I didnt mean to seem that harsh, and you seemed to make such a big deal out of it. I didnt say anything about his vocal skills, and believe me, he is quite a good vocalist. You took one thing I said and made into a much bigger thing. Chill out, dude.

Some of his works just arent that great.
there are few people that can surpass joeys talents on the drums ... and i can tell you that its not some faggot from dimmu borgir (although i admit their drummer is GREAT) ... scott travis of racer x, and possibly Brann Dailor of Mastodon and Danny Carey of Tool are some of the few that are as great as joey

mick is lead i know for sure, theres a site on slipknot that says what each member does and it says micks lead.i thought mick did all the solos from someone who said jim did all the crazy solos, but i guess they both do lead parts, but i know on iowa mick did the lead parts such as the very beginning of iowa and that tapping part of surfacing.i know both of those things cause i have the disasterpeices dvd.

Agreed, anything off Iowa, Self titled or the subliminal verses isn't even worth learning. It's just not hard enough to be of any value to anyone.
I haven't heard much of M.F.K.R so I can't really comment on that but is it possible their bassist back then wasn't Paul but some other guy? Paul is just your typical guitarist trying to play a bass (complete with pick) I can't imagine him possessing any slap skills. I'm not slamming your post merely raising a question... No, it was Paul.

Paul has a ton of skill, he just doesn't show it on the new albums. His reasoning behind it is that he wants to lay down solid rhythm, and doesn't need or want to show off.

The pick is for a more pingy sound. The pick is neccissary for songs like for the blink182 sound, but if you want a heavier sound or funk, then you should deffinately use your fingers. :thumb:

Indeed. MFKR is the album to listen to for good Slipknot bass.

dewds i jus saw slipknot, unearth, killswitch engage, and **** 13 in mississauaga ontario at arrow hall.....first of all unearth, wow impressed the hell out of me cause not only did he do there set, but the lead singer from killswitch engage blew his voice out so he snag their songs for em. Slipknot tho was incredible. Obviously the best performance of the night

B.C are so much show with there ugly guitar bodys. Ibanez was such a good choice for mick.

Have you ever played one to know? The Platinum and the Platinum Pro series are some really solid guitars.
