They need to stop copying Mike Patton with the whole mask thing and learn how to construct a song.

Wow.

MX has too many fags, there's no use making this thread active. I don't want to keep arguing with some hardcore 12 year old kids everytime because they just discovered black metal and think all other music is garbage. :smoke:

Has anyone heard the Vermillion pt. 2 Bloodstone Remix on the Underworld 2 soundtrack?

I think I heard it. Is it the one that has very quiet guitars. I preferred the original with louder acoustic guitars. Unless that was a different one.

Is it the same as the one on the Vol. 3 Special Eddition disc? That's the only other version I have.

Yup.

On their site it says they've completed like 16 tracks, so now they're just choosing which ones to use, and remixing will be done, etc... It will be done by Randy Staub (?) who supposedly mixed metallica's album also, not sure which one. Hopefully not the st. anger man. :)

Can't wait this one should be better than their first.

Hey guys!! Im not really a slipknot fan, but i really liked one of their songs. problem is, i dunno what its called. In the video they all have their masks off, but you dont see their faces, and theyre playing indoors, one of them barefooted i think. If anyone could name it that would be class! cheers:chug:

I love slipknot. they r great musicians and the people generally underrate them because of the genre of music they r in.

Joey Jordison is an insane drummer, Corey Taylor is an awesome vocalist, and they have 2 great guitarists. The only members of the band i dont think r that great r Paul, and Sid and the clown and the pinnocchio lookin dude.

and craig doent even do anything realyy, he doesnt play ne music, at least not that i kno of.

other than that they r a great band and i own all of thier albums, i was very dissapointed wen i missed em at ozzfest 3 years ago.

Wow, your opinions on their albums are completely different from mine. The self titled was pretty solid throughout, with a few flaws. Iowa struck me as completely average and seemed like a weaker repeat of the first the album. The lyrics on it were pretty dumb, too. Volume 3 is an album that I used to hate because of the band's sound change, but now I really enjoy it. They've finally matured into a good metal band and they're actually beginning to use their guitarists to their potential.

I have a feeling that the new album will be quite good and will finally give Slipknot the respect they deserve.

I read an interview in Bass Guitar magazine that had an interview with Paul and he said that they're going to take a break for a while. So my guess would not be for a while, which is a bummer.

It's understandable though, seeing as how they were on tour for an incredibly long time.

There have been rumors of them breaking up for quite some time now, but that's not true. Even the band members have disproved that. They're just taking a break for a little while.

Sure Volume 3 finally shows all their potential (and espicially the guitarists) but i (and quite a lot of older fans) prefer much more the old slipknot who used simple fast guitars riffs, harsh vocals with simple lyrics and fast drumming. Of course they have some of these elements in their new music but the heaviness/intensity is just missing but mark my words, this isn't a bad album at all!

Thor
05-08-2006, 04:06 PM
Exactly. They took the things they needed to improve on, thus making a really good album. The only thing that I can complain about on Volume 3 is Corey's scream, which everyone knows isn't as good as his old one.

I dont think that was Mick and Jim's full potential. It was, however, quite a step up from previous material. While Vol.3 was a very good album, I still think that it's main purpose was really to break down alot of barriers for future releases.I see them taking what they did on Vol.3, and completely taking it to a whole new level. At least, I'm hopefull of it.It would be quite a waste not to do so when the opportunity is there.

Thor

Their newer performances aren't nearly as good. Corey's voice is shot, Joey's drums sound funny and Sid doesn't jump off of huge amps anymore.

...which is why Disasterpieces is a really good DVD. That was when they were at the top of their game performance wise.

Invicta_Veritas

Corey's voice was kinda screwed on 9.0 Live because they took recordings from some of the last shows in the Vol. 3 tour... which was kinda dumb. So yeah. His voice was shattered. And if you've heard the new Stone Sour album, his voice has changed heaps - he can sing heaps better but he can't scream as well. Which is depressing... I liked his old scream.

Their old live stuff was awesome, but 9.0 Live kinda ruined it...

Oh, btw Grumma, they have 2 guitarists... which I don't have a problem with. Lead and rhythm is fine, but I do think 3 percussionists is a bit over the top. Joey is a great drummer, but the other 2 hit kegs with baseball bats XD Not sure if a sampler & a DJ is necessary either, but they do some pretty cool stuff... & they're part of what makes Slipknot so unique so meh...

Slipknot aren't bad actually. I enjoy some of their music.

Now is the best time for them to drop their **** and write decent music (BECAUSE I KNOW THEY CAN!!!). Yes. Seriously.

But then we could listen to all the people bitch about them selling out :p (which IMO they wouldnt be).

Personally I think they just need to take a different direction/approach with their music. Maybe try a few different ideas. Softer songs, more progressive influenced songs etc etc

Thor

I'm sure that's what they'll do. They've probably come to realize that the nu-metal fad is gone and move on to more complex material.

What they'll do with Sid and Craig, I'm not really sure. It's not like Craig did anything to begin with, anyways.

Been listening to MFKR again recently. It pains me to see that Paul owned the bass back in the day (but doesn't show off his chops these days). I even checked out mfkr1.com again, and looked at their pics: Paul played his bass high back then! Respekt.

Then they should replace Jim and Mick with guitarists who can play.

I know a guy who listens to Slipknot, he probably has one of the worst tastes in metal ever.

Yeah one of my former coworkers likes Slipknot, Atreyu, CoF and In Flames.

He's a cool guy otherwise so I won't make fun of him for it

yeah. This friend of mine occasionally takes my advice when I rec him stuff, but for the most part he's an idiot. I've given up telling him he should listen to me, yet he constantly thinks I don't already know everything he will learn about metal in the next 20 years. The other day he came online and said 'WHOA man, did you know that In Flames' early albums are totally different to their new stuff and even better!@!!!'
I told him to gtfo

The In Flames acoustic demo is nothing less than outstanding neofolk

It would have been great had they continued in that vein

Yeah most of my friends are a bit behind like that guy. I try to not be all elitist about it, but its hard.

I have my bandmates, two of which have really good taste in music. My singer likes oddball 80s groups though.

Neither, just that one idiot, and his other mate who listens to about one album every 4 years.

all my friends love metal, although one of my friends only likes things with breakdowns and two step riffs in them, but he's funny as ****
