What band are you just ashamed to have listened to at one point?
It's all right, don't feel bad....
For me, it would be Linkin Park. Don't murder me.

I don't regret listening to any music that I used to. If I enjoyed it at the time, that's all that really matters.

Bands I use to enjoy, now HATE:

Linkin Park
Limp Bizkit
Adema
KoRn

Bands I Don't hate, but Don't listen to:

Blink 182 - I still have a certain amount of respect for them. I still prefer their first two albums.

Disturbed - They paved the way for me. I never would have listened to Metal if it was not for them

Greenday - Just a phase, but I don't hate them

Bands I've always hated:

Avril Lavigne
Fefe Dobson
Finger Eleven

Bands I love now, and forever will:

Tool
A Perfect Circle
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin

---

Yeah, yeah. I think my new music tastes make up for the music I liked in grade 6, when I was 10 or 11. I am now 15.

---

Dood, destiny's child still rock. haha, actually I'm not ashamed that I sometimes enjoy to hear up beat songs that aren't depressing on the radio. Sure they may be popish, but so what? If Beyonce puts me in a good mood on my ride to school then what the hell does it matter eh?

When i was little i use to like boybands and pop music, I regrant that, and i use to like avril lavene, I regret that even more, but then, one day i started to like punk music, which lead me into likeing 80s metal, which lead me into liking metal from today, which lead me into not likeing rap like my sister! So everything worked out in the end. :)

Jude
07-30-2004, 02:54 PM
I used to think Anti-Flag was pretty good. This was part of a brief foray into punk, which ended when I realized that punk rock sucks, the musicians are no-talent hacks, and the lyrics are less poetic versions of things that were written better earlier.

Edit: Although the Clash are good.

I would say that I've never been THAT LOW(the last 2 posts), but I certainly can't believe I've listened to Slipknot... And Rammstein. Hell, I listened to Linkin' Park, either! And Limp Bizkit! I can't believe I'm still listening to them!!!

But, LB is the band I started listening to rock with, so I can't just throw them away, as ****ty as they are... Plus their last album, "Results May Vary", is not that ****ty... And well, "Three Dollar Bill Y'all" wasn't ****ty at all... :)

Oh, BTW, I started listening to rock at the age of 10, or even 9("Smokey", or "Scorpions", or "Pink Floyd", someone?), so, no flaming me, and calling me liar, and things like that, 'cause I think that before Rock came "Pim Pam Po"(One thingy my 7yo sister is now listening to...)

I dunno, I was into a lot of pop-punk about a year ago. It was just a phase though, I went from nu-metal -> grunge -> pop-punk -> punk -> metal -> everything in one school year...it was a very rough time.

Hm, good point.

I don't hate that others dig it, my drummer's big on Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc., but I just never got into it

Yeah, I only liked GC for about ten seconds before "They're rich and famous..and complaining about rich and famous people..." sprung into my head. I still tolerate some Simple Plan though.

Yeah

Hold On was a tolerable song, as was The Anthem and the one that played on Undergrads, I think it was called The Click? I just find it funny that they're the big punkers yet they get more media attention than today's pop stars... it's kinda funny

If you're ashamed of something you listened to way back when, the only thing you can do to rectify it is to stop regretting things or just stop listening to trendy stuff that changes every year......

I don't regret a thing I listened to, because it all had its place in my life.

Good Charlotte - I knew they suck but I liked them, until 'Girls & Boys' gets played on MTV like 5 times a day.

Limp Bizkit - I was a kid that followed what people did. Everyone listened to LB so I did. I'm now the exact opposite.

Linkin Park - I was never a big fan. I am not ashamed of still liking their older songs. They're one of my most hated bands though.

I listen to a bit of D12 and Eminem when they get on MTV, I hate most of their songs but songs like 'My Band' are catchy and I am not afraid to admit that I like it. But too many other hip hop and rap songs are just ****. I hate most of their videos. I'm afraid that Eminem may be the only rapper that I like... Oh well, I don't really like him, but some songs are just catchy.

A few other guilty pleasures include Hanson and Busted. And yes, I STILL like them...

There are so many bands I have listened to in my life time, and my tastes have progressed throughout the years. But there is nothing at all i regret having listened to.

I bought many poppy albums such as Spice Girls, Hanson, All Saints, The Smurfs (3 of them!!).

The smurfs is the only one I cringe at if I hear again, because the music is so fake, sped up and synthesised, but the Christmas album brings back fond memories of that era.

However when my friend comes round we listen to Hanson and laugh so much, yet remember the tunes too well. What's funny is that the album credits show about 50 additional musicians! Also listen to 'Yearbook'. How many times does he draw breath in the intro and still not start singing. It's great.
Spice Girls had catchy stuff, and although they faded out when Geri left, I can still enjoy some of their stuff, but I don't really listen to it now.

However I don't see how people are saying Blink 182 since it's not like you listened to them when you were 15 and now you're 30. They're a great band, and good music, whether you choose to like it or not, is your own opinion.
Sum 41 are as someone pointed out a very technically proficient band, and live pull off a very good show. As did Good Charlotte at Reading 2003. They may be a load of mainstream twats (or not), but thy got my respect after telling everyone to throw bottles at them at the same time, and making a joke about it.

Linkin Park, whether you hate them or not are still a good band and people shouldn't start hating things because it's popular or mainstream.

Anyway, these are all just my thoughts on the topic.

Some stuff I gotta disagree with though. You should never regret having listened and liked Michael Jackson. He's one of the greats, and his music is ace, because he had proper musicians playing, such as Eddie Van Halen and Slash.

Definitely Limp Bizkit. Their first CD seemed so good at the time, back when Korn was my favorite band and Pantera seemed heavy.

Now it's nothing but death metal, and we don't talk about those old days (all of like 6 or 7 years ago).

What band are you just ashamed to have listened to at one point?
It's all right, don't feel bad....
For me, it would be Linkin Park. Don't murder me.

I think we all went through a phase of that.
