aye, i'd like to work on death metal/black metal - we could ask the bm thread, the dm thread etc to list their top 10 albums and then somehow make a top 10 list from that. i'd make one restriction of just one album per band, to give variety to the lists.

Traditional/Heavy/Classical metal
Grind
Thrash Metal

Traditional Rock
Classic Rock
Hard rock
Grunge

What I think we should do is you guys perhaps take a genre or two each, and that'd be your responsibility to do. What I'd do is within the respective threads open up for a week any nominations, max 10 per user then collect them together and open up for a week of voting, where people select the 10 from the list they believe is essential. Or, if no thread exists create one for the genre for nominations/voting. I wouldn't have any ranking to the votes as I think it'd be a tedious task to think whether one album is more essential than another - they're both essential!...

As regards to which band belongs to which genre, I don't think it's too important if one band goes across two lists, but what's important should perhaps be where they're most influential. For example, Opeth is more important in progressive metal than in death metal. Or perhaps we could take the band as the genre on metal archives for metal and idk for other genres....

So perhaps a week of voting and then it should be all done, i.e. everything could be done within 2 weeks. Maybe if nobody volunteers for a genre listed then it won't happen, or it could be done at another time and added to the thread.

If you guys agree then we could start nominating tomorrow for a week, ending Wed 14th and then from thurs 15th a week of voting.

Any volunteers then to handle genres? Personally I'd be happy to handle death and black metal, my speciality.

yeah i think that's important - it gives variety to it. so I'd accept nominations and votes for multiple albums but the final list wouldn't include more than 1 from any artist.

abstract: mbs has been an outstanding member of the rock and metal community for AT LEAST 4 YEARS NOW HOLY **** I AM OLD. he occasionally posts in the community thread to gripe about life but still lurks some of the major threads to catch up on modern metulz \m/

while mbs has expanded his musical tastes to beyond rock and metal, he still considers this sub-fora his home. in may of 2004, when a bright eyed mbs registered to this great website, he made his home in the classic rock thread and r&m community thread, contributing interesting discussion and occasionally arguing about neil young, which ironically continues to this day.

mbs has been there for the forums when they were under attack. he helped report thread-spawning links when those were around, and encouraged people to never give up hope in the lockdown threads of olde. mbs also polices the hell out of the report problems thread, reminding people to stay on topic. he has taken many negative reputation dives for this, but it is for the good of the community :')

now, mbs posts mainly in gd, vg&m, and sometimes ai, but he still considers r&m his home. also, he loves jason and his big aussie self, even though he does not have a kael'thas avatar anymore and this saddens mbs :( mbs also misses the good days of the happy lab that used to grace sputnikmusic moderator jom's avatar slot, and he thinks that wish is an extremely cool guy.

It must be really hard for non-Photoshop users to go Image > Image Size > Type in 171 in the width field and watch the magic of Photoshop adjust the height so it's not distorted.

great suggestion here, when users make new accounts have a profanity filter enabled for them automatically right then have an option to take the filter off in ur user cp once you know what profanity filter is or someshit that way its kept all legal and I dont have to deal with the stupid ****ing stars and words in place of words.

The mods know no more than you. The reason for its removal in the first place hasn't explained to us. Based on the previous times it's been disabled I think it's safe to say it'll make a return one day.

Yeah, with the use of a plug-in. What I'm saying it that it isn't a built-in vBulletin feature. I searched vbulletin.org and found it for an earlier version of vBulletin 3 (which probably won't work on 3.7.x). Even if it will/there is a plug-in for 3.7.x, do you really think it'll get installed?!

It tends to be difficult to contact people who don't want to be contacted. Honestly, there are community threads everywhere. If somebody hasn't posted their contact info and you still have some burning desire to ravage them textually, you can ask in there. Otherwise, you may have to accept the possibility that they don't like you.
