I'd like to make a suggestion for the board:
For all "official" threads in the forum I believe it would be beneficial for recommended songs/albums of that particular band to be displayed on the first post of the thread. That way newcomers to the board and newcomers to the band will know where to start in discovering the best of a particular band. Further to this, on the first posts of the genres thread, such as the death heads to display a top 10 recommended albums/bands for newcomers.
This will avoid repetative posts and also supply members with a broader range of top quality music to choose from.

This is a pretty cool idea :)
EDIT
although not too essential unless you consider newcomers' standard questions a major problem
I think it's a cool idea; I wouldn't have any problem editing them in, nor would any of the actual R&M mods, I don't think. The only problem is coming up with the suggested music.

Indeed. It would be too difficult to get the regulars to decide...

I made an IE thread, and asked for a name change a while back, and Heavy Riva changed it to R&M's Inferno(Iced Earth).
Does that make it official ?

Yeah, that'd be cool. I would want them to post their lists here, though, and not in the thread. I don't want to go through forty separate threads searching for forty separate lists :)

Yeah, the larger threads (Incubus, Porcupine Tree, etc.) are certainly official just as much as the Pink Floyd, Tool, Iron Maiden, etc. threads are.
The genre threads (Black Metal, Death Heads, Thrash Titans, etc.) could also make a list of recommendations, if they want.

Uhh, no. Look at your post again.
Jom, the point is you would have to remove Azagthoth's original writing because
1) It already has a list of bands which are going to be different to the list chosen as the "recommended one".
2) We already get a person every few weeks replying to his original post, due to the question he put in it.

Once the drummer contest ends do you think I could host a top 100 most versatile musicians in R&M competition?
Do you mean as in prolific artists like Patton and Garm? I think that would be better off being relegated to a single thread.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm of the opinion that once this drummer's competition is over, the only polls we'll officially support will be the Modern Rock/ Classic Rock/Metal band, Album and Song competitions. Otherwise it is just too cluttered.

I just made a new thread. Am I allowed to do a small mailing list, meaning I'd send out maybe three or four songs to people who comment and put their email address?
Sorry, but no. Mailing lists are done for, aside from the Daily Upload and certain write up threads that have been around for a while.
Edit: Oopsies! I read your post wrong. It's perfectly fine to send out 2 or 3 songs in a small mailing list (or post it on a website like Livejournal or Myspace) but not albums. Sorry. :-X
I just made a new thread. Am I allowed to do a small mailing list, meaning I'd send out maybe three or four songs to people who comment and put their email address?
Yes. The one requirement is that you have to list out what songs you're sending out at the bottom of your post. Because this is only a temporary thing, rather than an official mailing list, it's permissible. However, if you planned on doing this frequently, then it would be disallowed.

Make a new thread as you usually would, then before you click "submit thread" there should be an option called "Create poll with (blank) choices" (or something) Fill in the blank with the amount of choices you want, then click submit thread. You should be able to figure out the rest from there.

can anyone make a thread about a band if there isnt already one?
As long as you put some effort into it, then go for it!
I'm wondering what is the difference of having 2 dual humbukers or having 2 dual humbukers and a single coil pickup.
Depends on the placement of the single coil. If it's in between the 2 humbuckers, then it won't make much of a difference because the humbuckers are louder, thus providing more of the humbucker tone than the coil tone. Basically, it's a waste of money, if you want a single coiled guitar, buy one with just single coils.
/not R&M related, but oh well.

Regarding the Daily Upload, I'd like to know where the mods stand when it comes to uploading leaks of unreleased albums. I know that reviewing such things is illeagal on sputnik, but I'm not sure if that carries over here. Lately there have been a couple of leaked albums floating around the mailing list.

EDIT: The moderators will be subscribing and watching the Daily Upload for foul play. We will not tolerate any more than ten (10) albums per day. Anything else, and there will be consequences, including but not limited to the outright outlawing of mailing lists on MX That's from the mailing list thread he made.
And also for The Daily Upload, I thought there was a 10 album per issue limit, latey their has been as many as 19 albums an issue, and thats just rediculous. I thought we deleted the other lists to cut down on the piracy, but it seems to me as though The Daily Upload is just picking up the others issue's slack.

I'd have to disagree by far. Just because I asert my opinion on a band doesn't make me a "terrible user". I have a very aggressive personality and that's why I come across like that many times. I wouldn't say I've been making the highest quality posts as of late though. I would say "terrible", is to harsh.
Example... My opinion on Tool in that thread, I didn't just mindlessly bash them and say "omgz they suck more then yo mama" or some childish insult. I gave reasons, that in the end were opinions as were other peoples.
I'm not going to start another arguement in this thread, so I'm going to leave my response at this.

I don't see why you can't make the thread. It really helps to start a thread with a brief write up and listing of the bands members/albums.
Something to lead into discussion so it doesn't fall by the wayside/end in flaming.
The only thing is, you can't put uploads in. If you wanted that you'd have to ask the mods. If you did, one or two songs would be prolly fine. But check with the mods in here first.
Make your thread with your write up or w/e and when it doubt read the rules.

Yeah, my firefox will freeze and crash sometimes when I do that. My advice is: just don't do it. You can live the wait of another 3 or 4 seconds to browse through each thread individually.

There is a Mozilla browser, and Mozilla Firefox browser.
I'm not sure how they're different though. I've only used Firefox out of the two.

I doubt there is much of a difference. The onoly difference that would make sense are plug-ins.

It has a different feel to it. Try them both, if you havn't.
Mozilla browser with "Modern Theme" is good. I just like the interface of Mozilla browser better than Firefox.

There is nothing wrong with that thread, just the title shouldn't be the song he's it talking about, but "Songs with emotional instrumental parts" or something the like.

I want to do a featured artist or something on Buckethead. Can I do this? Or maybe start my own series?

Smart Blockhead needs to be banned and have his crap thread deleted. He's just pissed because so many people owned his *** yesterday when he made an anti-Chuck Norris thread in the pit.

I doubt it. Though I guess it's a possibility. I figure he's upset about his Chuck Norris thread and is now just acting like an idiot.
