Oh I get it, you guys are pissy that I got supered instead of Med.

What? Not at all.
What I don't understand is that why all of a sudden do we have a whole slew of newly-supered mods (either brand new or upgraded) when in August and countless times before that when we NEEDED mods we were ignored? And then all of a sudden, it's "Hey, we need three new mods in The Pit to set everyone in line!" when it wasn't all that pressing of an issue and it seemed to be done completely random and without any user feedback.
Explain that one. Maybe you'll find it in the mod forum and report back for us, because we never got an answer.

I have a suggestion.
I've noticed that a lot of MX noobs post something regarding who plays a certain song or what the name of a certain band is.
Maybe one of you guys could start a thread that specifically answers those questions. Again just a suggestion.

I never asked to be supered, or hell, even modded.
Your issue is with others, so I don't see why all of the sudden I'm the bad guy. It's getting a little annoying to have people treat me like an arsehole simply because they feel an injustice occurred.

It was tried before (by 6FR, if I'm not mistaken), but it crashed and burned, and no one looks to bump it ever.

Your issue is with your perception.
No one is directly attacking you, and you need to knock it off with feeling the need to protect yourself, as it's completely unjustified and is making you look silly :)
No one is labeling you as the bad guy, so that perception needs to go take a scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef and run out of oxygen.

I can tell when someone is having a go at me, whether implicit or straight out. Besides, ever since I was modded, you haven't had a civil conversation with me on MSN. How am I supposed to interpret that?

You're looking into one (1) conversation, hey? That's a riot, sir, because I'd be hard-pressed to find someone in the world where I have always had a quote-unquote civil conversation with him or her. And to narrow it down to only one conversation? That's even harder. And, based by your logic, I'm supposed to feel insulted that you haven't let me know if you received that sampler or not, but I'm not, because I don't try to make something out of nothing.
I could give you a report on how your perception is erroneous and a run for your dingos, but I don't have a single thing on you or against you. That should be sending you a message more than anything.

Okay fine, I'm sorry I brought it up. It's just more than a little annoying when people are so unspecific in their accusations.

Oh, lordy. =-/
Ok, I know he's the threadstarter, but Flynn's (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/member.php?u=118554) behavior of late in the Opeth thread warrants a temp banning, in my opinion. For the past few weeks he's been slamming the door shut on anyone that has said anything positive about "Ghost Reveries," and has been EXTREMELY harsh on users who have negative things to say about their older albums. He is also ignoring user's criticisms of his behavior and in his most most recent flamefest (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211496&page=239) posted this (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10200121&postcount=7147) in response to toaster135's attempt to end the argument amicably.
Here are some more examples of his style of late:
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10187885&postcount=7068
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10199612&postcount=7128
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10174913&postcount=6990
He's been ruining the atmosphere of the thread for a while. If a banning isn't deemed neccesary, could someone talk to him at least?
Leper
10-29-2005, 02:01 AM
He seems like quite the elitist prick.
RNR - Got it.
Aaron - Not sure if that's really banworthy yet. I'll leave him be for now.
Lucas - I've warned him. I'm fairly tolerant when it comes to elitism, as long as it isn't open flaming or completely without a backing argument.
Lucas - I've warned him. I'm fairly tolerant when it comes to elitism, as long as it isn't open flaming or completely without a backing argument.
Ok, I saw. Will you be sure to keep an eye on the thread for the next few days? He tends to ignore this kind of thing, or maybe miss it completely, and I don't want to be a total prick and report him again. :(

Try changing to a different avatar, It might just be that.
10 e-bucks says he's using a .png file type. Are those legal?
Anyway, if you have a photobucket account, upload your avatar onto there. Then, when it's on the photobucket account, click it so it's the single picture screen.
Right click > Copy link location (if you have Firefox, it should be something similar with IE)
then paste the URL into the "Enter Avatar URL" box, and hit "Save Changes"
It should work, if not, just upload the avatar onto photobucket and I'll convert it to a .jpeg for you.

It's disabled, and it likely won't be enabled. Your best bet is to look at userprofiles for contact information through an instant messaging medium.
Alternatively, you can just flat-out ask the user whom you wish to contact what his or her e-mail address is.

Why do they close out threads for no reason. Let me know because I am tired of getting closed out of threads
There usually is a reason for a thread being closed.
1. It breaks the rules of the forum,
2. There was a thread created before the inception of the newer (-est?) thread,
3. The thread does little, if at all, to promote discussion.

We don't close threads for no reason.
Link to the thread(s) you're unhappy with, and I (or another mod) will explain why it was closed.
I'd say that the threads are illegal 99% of the time. Sometimes the threadstarter wants it closed, and there are other reasons, but I'd say if you read the rules you'll resolve most of your thread-closing frustrations.

Yeah, you'd want to talk to a Pit mod about that.
I can assure you that the threads that were closed were against the rules. None of the current mods close threads for no reason. I would imagine the threads closed in the Pit were due to spam.
Just for your information - copy and paste the link in your browser window and post that to make a link. :p

In mx's most recent announcement, he says "As far as I know, the search is not yet enabled. That will have to wait." I'm pretty sure he hasn't re-enabled it yet, although I'm not sure. If it's noticeably not working, then that's probably why, although it's always been a bit unreliable for me, to say the least.
Unreliable?! It never ever brings me what I want!
I say they destroy it, or build a new one because its just plain crap through and through. Ive been using it since 2002, and it never worked.
It used to work quite well. I believe the problem is with indexing, which means that a new one will take just as much work as the old one.

its hard to explain (for me anyway) a thread is what you just wrote in now.
its a link to a subject that you discus (sorry if i diddent explain probly)
That's a good definition, Thrasher. A thread is an individual topic that you see from the main page of the forum.
And Thrasher, images have been disabled for the forum, but if you are talking about an avatar, like my Bloodmage, then you need to ensure it is in either .jpg, .gif, or .bmp.

You earn rep by making constructive/useful/informative posts. Rep can only be given my mods or users with start underneath their name (see HeavyRiva for example). My advice is to not whore for rep, but to just be a generally good poster, and if you deserve it, it will come.

So you reported the thread, then you posted in the thread?
Pretty sure that is a bannable offence amirite ;)?

At least I reported it, which no-one else did.
I went back to edit it as well, but it had already been closed. Ban me if you wish. But it seems completely pointless.

I'd like to report Elnimio for being way too cynical. He's disruptive and doesn't contribute. I'm not trying to get him banned but I'd like you to look out for him in the future as he is a dumbass.

Cool thread, bad bump.
What's wrong with bumping that? It is hardly an old thread.

It's last post was back in August 8th. But yeah, I actually just thought that, reporting that thread was stupid because I like those bands.

I usually feel that R&M follows the same 6 month rule of the Pit but it is up to the mods to decide what to do.

Six month rule? I remember when I bumped a thread about as old as that thread I was banned for a week. But oh well. I deleted my post. That was a cool thread.

6) No bumping old threads over 6 months old that have not been updated unless you have something worth while to contribute.
Do you know who it was who banned you?

Nah, it was quite a while back, about a month before the sever change. But that's in the past.

Off-topic, and just plain useless. A ban might be in order since it changed a fragile thread into a bit of a spamage.

I agree. If we're gonna ban people for simple double posting, a ban in this instance goes without saying.

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278711
I was just thinking of it today and maybe we could do it again since there are even more members, a new great mod and such. I would love to run it. Even though I ended up a disgraceful #44 I still very much enjoyed this and I'm sure others will aswell. It could turn out to be an annual thing this being the 2nd time it's done. So....what do you guys think? :)
This is my third and last time I'll be posting this. Does anyone have any opinions about this? Bartender has already approved it so if no-one says anything I'll just assume everyone's ok with me doing this. I'll post the thread around early December if approved. Any objections?
