Scan·di·na·vi·a ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sknd-nv-, -nvy)

A region of northern Europe consisting of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Finland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands are often included in the region.
Where did you dig that up?

Scandinavia is usually a term used to group together the Norse countries, Sweeden, Denmark and Norway because they are all similar and speak similar languages. Finland is set apart.

Question regarding my "The Daily Upload" thread:

Would it be possible for me to keep it going, except with a small twist:

Who ever is interested joins my mailing list in the thread, and every day I send an email with the YSI link out in it.

Basically people would just add their emails to my thread and I'd send them the daily upload, similar to how the Music Request thread is now.

Essentially there's no problem as long as you don't upload any material on MX.

I can't see why the Mods would have a problem with it.

If all of his threads are plagiarised, I'm taking them out of the rules thread. This is ridiculous.

The first two are plagerised, and the latest two are plagerised. I don't know about 3 and 4 though.

Personally, I feel that he should be banned for this, mainly because he said that "I wrote this...". If he had just posted an article lifted directly from a website, it would be annoying/wrong/cheap, but maybe not ban-able (obviously it would still be plagerism and still be illegal). But as soon as you take credit for it yourself with no reference to the original source, I think it should be ban-able offense. Just my thoughts.

This may or may not be a problem thread, even though he's trashing modern music.

He's also on my **** list for plaguing the Metal Competition thread with this post:

Wow. Yet another competition for music no other has said to be CRAP. Play one chord through the whole song and get drums smashing, yell your voice off like fire and theres your death metal song. -_-

Yes, opinions are opinions. Fine. But we don't need ignorance in that thread, heh.

Anyways, your call on the thread. I just wanted to bring it to your attention for judgment.

I was thinking, inlight of the FTR plagiarism thing, there sould be a rule that if you plagerise in a writeup, then you will get a ban. Just so people stop doing it.

Dr. Jake Destructo
09-19-2005, 06:20 PM
This could be an odd coincidence, but uh, I'm going to venture to guess that The Liberty Bell is FTR. I mean, TLB joined yesterday, and started posted right after FTR got busted for plagarizing. TLB's AIM is Jew with a Crew, FTR was Jewish.

I sense something suspicious here.

EDIT: Also, they're both into the same bands- Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom...I don't know, I could be looking into this a little too far, but eh, just trying to point out something here.

I think it's just a little coincidental, so IP scan anyone? I know it'll bog down the site for a little while, but Med did it for CG, and this is a similair situation.

Dammit, he says he uses a proxy, never mind.

Please close this thread, and consider a talking-to or ban to the threadstarter.

Ok, I have an idea- Should there be a rule that goes something like this?

Before creating a thread asking someting like "What song is this, the lyrics go..." do a Google search on the lyrics. You will get your answer a lot quicker, and your thread won't get closed.

I see a thread that goes something like that at least once a week, and it's usally filled with posts linking to Google, or "u shudnt do dat" type posts. It would save a lot of time for mods to not have to close threads and ban idiots who create those kinds of threads. :p

^ thats a good Idea but the influx of threads like that that produce are usually new people to MX and most newer people don't read the rules or are to lazy to google it, that IMO is where a lot of spam starts producing and it usually fills up with spam to fast for the mods to be able to close it. I'm not to familar with this but if it could be added to the rules page that IMO would help if people would read the rules.

Me and the regulars of my Nightwish thread would like to have the name of it changed...

They help to spark conversations about a band more than "Name of band in title of thread" "Discuss". See 6FR's System of a Down write up for example.

Is it possible for us to ever have larger avatars? I hate being restricted to only a 70x70 avatar. If we had 100x100 that would be so much better.
That would probably kill the server. Only certain special users, mods and admins are allowed larger than 70x70.

I doubt it. If the file size was left at 19.5 kb, and the pixel size was increased, I don't really think that would effect the server.

I think the thread could be really great if there were certain guidelines put down. I don't really like the phrase "argue about genres" but you could really learn quite a bit about genres from a thread like this.

Dude, unsupported bashing of something and then constant flaming where there is actual discussion is against the rules, telling someone to stop being a dick is not.
