Well, it was more of a general Disturbed thread, I thought, it'll die soon enough. You don't have to take the 'No favourite threads' rule to strictly either. It only counts for overdone things really.

Who's your favourite Folk Metal band from Zimbabwe shouldn't really be closed. Still, it's not a bad idea to avoid favourite threads as it limits the matter to discuss, general threads about bands or styles are a lot better. :)

Maybe this should be something we should look into with the forum rules. I mean, like u said, if we are to strict, we limit the topics, but if we let some through, we can possibly get issues with spam.

Would it be possible to re-do a Gwar thread? I think it was a good idea at least trying to get them one. The one that was just turned into a flamefest. But how would you feel about another one more "controlled" and one about recommendations. Just because I think Gwar is actually worthy of a thread due to their influence on thrash and shock rock,and the fact that they are actually very brilliant musicians.

I'd like to start over with it, as there is only really one thread/band who accomplished anything. (Tool) I'd love to just start with a clean slate and do it, but I don't think it would work that great. :shrug:

I would be interested to try it out. I really thought it was a great idea. I think it was attempted in the Opeth and Tool Threads...but nothing really came from it.

The only reason that I haven't done any more is because if you call too many years in music "great", then obvious problems arise about the meaning of the word "great", which I don't really want. I was thinking about doing some threads about years in music that don't involve the word "great" though, to get round that. Maybe I think about this too much...:/

Probably. It may sound a little mainstream, but try to do a group of not just popular albums but really good ones. Ones with songs everyone on hear would know. The reason I suggested 80 is because everyone knows Back in Black and Blizzard of Ozz. There are a lot of years that everyone could appreciate as "great" years, if you'd like to have it be "good" years in rock that would work to. It's up to you if you want to do one, I'm just offering to.
