YSI are tracking links from message boards and blocking them to cut down on piracy. If you replace the 'http' with 'hxxp' then they can't tell that the link was posted on a board and in theory shouldn't block the file.

I think they can track some of them, but not all of them. I think it's safer to post the links as 'hxxp' but I'm not 100% sure on it. I still use hyperlinks anyway.

I don't think so, most people in the YSI thread use the 'hxxp' method so that should be alright. The thread istelf isn't an aid to piracy, but just an easy way for people to get acess to new music. Hence the 'no full album uploads rule'.

You can do a write-up of a band, they just can't be a Featured Artist. If you wanted to do a FA, then you have to get a hold of Med and be put in the queue line, which is rather lengthy at the moment.

But if you're wanting to do something along the lines of what Lunch, Steerpike, IAJP, Shattered_Future, etc. are doing, then feel free to do so, you don't need anyone's permission to do that; however, if you want to do the FA (those stickies are so appealing, I'm sure), you have to get a hold of Med first.

It is turned on only in certain forums. It works in the "What Are You Listening to" thread because it is in the other music forum where he [IMG] tags are on, but not in Lunch's thread because the tags are off in R&M. There isnt a way to bypass it(Unless mx/DBJ turns them on)

Yes, but if someone makes a introduction to rap thread, it's polite to respect their musical tastes. Besides, a lot of people are open to different genres here in R&M. My guess is you just got into metal, and are really keen on it. Which is great, it's a brilliant genre (and my favourite). However, not everyone is a carbon copy of you, so cut people some slack.

I'm not sure if the mods will like too many more competitions in the future. Though in another year or so I might re-run the albums comp.

The search won't turn up anything from before the database crashes that occured. The only ways to find the threads would be to use the 'View all threads created by' in a User's profile.
I know Riva did the favourite album, Pigs(onedifferent one) ran the metal band, YDload did favourite bassist, and Schyma did favourite guitarist, I think. But I can't remember who did the classic rock comp.

Since R&M has this thread all of the stuff to do with the trunning of R&M can be dealt with here, because usually we only need the intervention of a mod. Only when an admin is needed, for example; getting Med modded, do you take it to site. Though if there aren't any mods on and there are a lot of problems it somties helps to make a post or two in there.

Posting it in Site forum wouldn't really do much, anyway.
