So I thought I ought to get some mod approval before starting this as it will require heavy mod participation but...I'd like to start an official concert thread. The first post will have band/tour names with links to dates and other important information, but the dates won't be in there because that's messy. People can post more tours and links, which will be added to tha first post and once they're added they will be deleted to keep the thread clean. All posts after the first post will be concert reviews. Let me know what you guys think of it.

I hardly ever see threads like that, and I'm here fairly often, so I don't think we really need one.
Usually those threads are made in the pit, not here. And if they are made here they can always be moved to the pit.

Do you think it would help if we made a thread about drugs? I know it has nothing to do with music, but it would keep out a lot of spam threads, and spam in other threads in the fourm if people could just vent their drug use there, kind of like how the offical threads work. Just a thought.

I just came in here to suggest that idea to the mods. It does get annoying so many of these, especially if Ozzfest has absolutely nothing to do with you. No other festival seems to choke up the forum like Ozzfest does, and they never seem to let up. Limiting it to one Ozzfest thread per tour could be a great idea.

The Mods aren't too keen on the idea of any more Official threads. I think they'd just prefer to close/delete threads on the same topic.

Riva
05-07-2005, 06:50 AM
Why doesn't someone make a good all-info thread, and then everyone simply has to link the threadstarter to that thread. I agree that one Ozzfest thread is enough, and that discussing a different aspect of the festival does not warrant a new thread.

Especially considering a good half of the forums aren't North American.

munky_magik
05-07-2005, 06:51 AM
The all encompassing threads are a great idea in theory, but never work in practice. When it get's over 5 pages, and the posts are over 5 lines people just ignore them.
Unless it was made an official thread most people wouldn't promote use of it.

Hey this is for Med, I think 1983 would be a good year for the great years of music thread

Some album that came out:

Metallica - Kill 'Em All
1984 - Van Halen
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood
Michael Jackson - Thriller
R.E.M.- Murmer
The Police - Synchronicity
U2 - War
Pyromania - Def Leppard
The Ramones - Subterranean Jungle
Infidels - Bob Dylan
An Innocent Man - Billy Joel

here's every other album that came out in 1983 (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/interferences/albums/1983a.html)

another good year - 1980

the two albums i can think of now are Blizzard of Ozz and Back in Black. i'll come back and edit some more

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Joy Division - Closer
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
The Circle Jerks - Group Sex
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Motorhead - Ace of Spades

Polls are allowed, just as long as they aren't overdone, mindless ones which will lead to arguments. I.e any best of polls.

grungeleftovers - What ban has he got he said..... I have just spent about 47 mins explaining why the threads were illegal, randomly posting the rules page, and teaching how to post well (Not that I am an expert lol)

I gave him two weeks, on the grounds he was repeatedly told what he was doing was against the rules, but he didn't stop.

Incidentally, munkymagik, nice Pitchshifter avatar.

I caught them live a while back, on the PSI tour. It's a good album, but I don't think anything they've done quite touches 'pitchshifter.com'. Great live act though. Pity they've split up now.

Methinks I should probably stop spamming this thread

ATM, I haven't seen MR around for a while. I think I am currently the leader of FGs and as you can see, doing a terrible job of it. In your post, I would just like you to leave a reminder of the date (2 weeks from posting) that a new one should be ready and encourage dibsses in your thread. Do that in bold please. I doubt there will be a large influx of dibs spam posts.
