This Daven guy needs to get a nice little ban.

All he does is bumps threads that are 1-3 days old that are completely dead with a pointless and useless post.

So, with Mars Volta's new album, there are a lot of TMV threads poppin up, I know we don't want more official threads, but perhaps we could designate one thread for discussion on the album while it's big and have a sort of temporary officail thread while it's a hot topic?

I know you guys don't want any more stickies....but a couple months ago I made a thread that people can use to get help figuring out a song they heard, whether they need to know the name of the song, or the band/artist etc etc.

We've had about five threads made per day in the last little while asking for song names or artists and it's getting out of hand. I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to sticky that thread, it might cut down on spammy threads.

We could probably take down Dancing Mans original "featured genre" thread, we already that a Featured Genre stickied, I don't think the original one is necessary.

/just a suggestion to help out.

Stevie needs a perm ban, I'm tired of him bashing religion. It clearly says in the rules that you're not supposed to do it.

EDIT: Actually, he should get a 10-day, but I think he should get a perm for so many repeated offenses:

24.This probably should be added to rule #3 but I want to make it perfectly clear. This is not The Pit. We will not tolerate any racial slurs, religious, or sexuality slurs at all. If you violate this rule you will be banned for 10 days.

I'm not sure which mod approved of this, but I beleive there was a thread in the site forum about creating a new Tool official thread. The user that created our current Tool thread is no longer a user, or doesn't post much any more or something, so if we(I) created a new one, I could update the first post with current Tool news, links with good Tool info, etc. All I need is approval from an R and M mod. :thumb:

Stevie needs a perm ban, I'm tired of him bashing religion. It clearly says in the rules that you're not supposed to do it.

EDIT: Actually, he should get a 10-day, but I think he should get a perm for so many repeated offenses:

As long as he doesn't use racial slurs, right? I mean, maybe his flawed views will actually generate some discussion?

There isn't an official one, nor will there be one. Try searching for one and if none turn up you will have to wait 24 hours to make one since you joined today. Try to make it insightful and so that it provokes good discussion please.

Dargon is immature with his comments, and this is not his first time doing this, so it does get quite old after awhile. If he was mature, and respectful of people, he could have done it in a matter of being nice, but him being the elitest cun
t and immature child he is, he did not.

I can also understand him about people who are ignorant in this world to music outside of the mainstream and all, it makes me angry as well. But, does that give him the right to act like a total asshole just because of that? No, not at all. People will take an education on a subject if they are recieving it in a calm manner, otherwise it just leads to an arguement of personal attacks and flames that steer away from the actual arguement/education at hand on the subject. Pointless, is it not?

And as I stated before, this is not a once in awhile thing done by some of the regulars of the Death Heads thread. The Death Heads thread, weather you like it or not, has alot of elitism spewing out of it's giant ego of "better" music.

So you can't really say he's being soft, this happens quite often, and it gets very annoying.

'nother thought: If someone is banned for advertising, maybe someone who has the time should edit the links out of their posts. Banning people for advertising is fine, but leaving the links there means they still advertise in a way. Editing the links from their posts would solve this. I do realise it would be very time consuming though.
Just a thought :)

we have an Official Music Recommendation (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284958) thread for these type of questions. I think you might get a better response in the pop-punk forum though.

If not can I do the 100 Greatest Guitarists? I tryed to do this in the Guitar fourm but the regulars would just flame me, the n00bs posted the same ones multiple times and I couldn't it stickied. I think its perfectly reasonable since there are mostly guitarists here so...can I do it? OK all I need is you Ken to approve of this.^

Bartender, Superpeer and Chris have already done so.
If I get 3 out of the 4 mods approval can I just do it?

I think list related discussion should be allowed so that justifications, suggestions, reminders etc.. can happen but anything that starts to get out of hand gets deleted plus, depending on how serious it is, a ban?
If you agree then you may want to add a footnote to Schyma's original post to that effect.

Just some kind of disclaimer to your first post saying osmethign like "these nominations are based on people's favourite guitarists, not on technical skill etc... so any flaming as a result of this will nto be tolerated" or something to that extent.

I'm very sorry to anyone who I offended by putting Rush and Megadeth on the list of the cheesiest/corniest bands of all time. You I was very drunk and a little stoned and I only put like the first 10 suggestions down without really considering whether or not they were corny or not. But just to make it clear, being cheesy or corny is necessarily a bad thing, it just means that they have tapped into a stereotype or a stereotype has been created around them since. I'm a huge Rush fan and I don't take any offence at them being called corny or cheesy but having sobered up a bit I can now see that they aren't really.

Sorry everyone, please don't hurt me.

About 12 hours (not joking). Med also helped with two of the pages. Get yourself a new database, using Access, and set it up so that all you have to do is either type a shorthand notation or simlpy copy and paste the guitarists name into a field.

You will want two fields; a field for the actual guitarist, and a field for the number of votes (make the default value for this field 1). Just keep that open, and tear through a page of votes, either entering shorthand or just do ctrl-c -> ctrl-v for each individual vote. Then at the end of every page, just clean up the database by counting the number of votes for each guitarist, and condesing it to one single vote. Then on to the next page. :D

Good luck.
