yeah i think we should divert from the locust usage....and anyyone that uses locust in any other form of speach than naming the band should be banned...haha

AIRIC

Can someone explain it than?

Gnarmageddon
01-29-2006, 07:38 PM
I was talking to Ben and we noticed that the members of The Locust have tons of side projects. So I suggested that in the year 2035, there would be a member of The Locust in every band known to man and they would take over music. And then Ben said that people would start using the word locust in place of all other words.

Edit: Wait, you weren't asking about that. Nevermind. But there's the explanation for anyone that wants to know.

Eric, go pick up a guitar, play a bunch of random notes and scream at the top of your lungs.

So much fun. Their singer threw out all of his old shirts since he's moving, I got a Severed Head of State shirt. They came out dressed as mummers.

Municipal Waste is insane live.

Speaking of Severed Head of State: the singer of both them and World Burns to Death was stabbed a couple days ago. Here's what BORN/DEAD forwarded to me:

PLEASE HELP OUT A BROTHER. This weekend, Jack Control (singer for Severed Head of State & World Burns To Death) was stabbed in the mid-section while breaking up a fight. It was a deep stab that nearly hit his heart (missed by less than 1cm). He lost more than half his blood supply at the scene and nearly died. He had immediate surgery and is now in stable condition...but he's not alright. Besides being in an excruciating amount of pain, his hospital bills are already OUTRAGEOUS. If you can help in ANY way, please contact Timmy Hefner via MySpace or better yet send money via PayPal to: timmythetexasturd@gmail.com. Timmy is handling pretty much all of Jack's contact with the outside world right now since Jack is not able to do so himself. Please read this bulletin from Ashley below:

REPOST FROM ASHLEY/SIGNAL LOST

Q: Who the hell would stab Jack Control?
A: ... a ****ing hobo crusty jackass... Ok so here is an update:
There was a large show on North Loop on Saturday night. At the end of the night some random trainhopper kids got rowdy. One guy kicked in the window of The Parlor (the pizza place Jazzys family owns) Jazzy, Zack and Jack went outside to confront these guys and a big mess broke out. Jack stepped in to stop one of these guys from hitting jazzy. This is when one of the guys came from behind Jack and stabbed him in the gut. The fight pretty much ended at that point. The suspect fled & Jack started walking away and casually stated that they needed to leave. The police and EMS arrived shortly after. The guy that had stabbed Jack goes by the name of "bingo" and was arrested only a few blocks away from the scene. Jack was taken to Brackeridge hospital by EMS and was in surgry for about 4 hours... The wound went pretty deep and got really close to his heart and he lost alot of blood. He is curently recovering in ICU at Brackenridge Hospital. "bingo" is still in custody and being charged with attempted murder. Jack will be in the hospital for a few more days and his bills have gotten to over 80 thousand dollars. Timmys got a paypall account set up. And we are in the process of setting up some other things to help out with random expenses... Benifit shows can't put a dent in such expesive hospital bills but they can deff. help with other things apparently getting stabbed costs alot of money... If you want to help out with setting up shows in your city contact me. Please don't call me or e-mail me with stupid questions and hearsay gossip ****. But if you can help out let us know. Jack is pretty much the toughest guy I know and he'll be fine but seeing him in the hospital with all those machines ****ing sucks. If you are a CLOSE friend of Jacks Im sure he appretiates visitors and your sent regards but please keep your visits short. And don't piss off the nurses...

Subvert_bassist

Thing is, he's been playing for like less than two years. He's just a natural.

Oh, and, just out of curiosity: what song made you guys think he uses double bass? Because, since I'm so used to his drumming, it all sounds normal to me.

We recently did a kinda test to see how fast his blast beats are: they averaged around 1000 bpms. Just in case you were curious. Just listen to how fast the blast beats get in this song:
http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3VGHIKELJ3KJL0DTGBNV13CS9P

THIS SONG SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Haha. We just pressed record with a couple mics in the middle of the room and did improv for a couple minutes. No serious effort, but it highlights how ****ing fast he gets. And the reggae part near the end is cool. Also, after the reggae, listen for the crazy, almost Agoraphobic Nosebleed-fast fill.

Me and Chris (drummer) are starting a power-violence band called Grave Digger, Like the Monster Truck (http://www.myspace.com/gravediggerpv). There's no guitar, just distorted bass. Should be easy to record, so in a couple months when we do, I'll post it up here.

Nah, we do it because neither of us can play guitar, and since we live next to each other, we play power violence ala-no guitar in our off time. However, I listened to MITB, and that's the general idea, but they're kinda slower... and wierder than us. Cool **** though. Not sure why I like Terrifyer so much. I guess the intro just gets me pumped and scares the s'hit out of me every time I listen to it. Then it's all up in your grill for the rest of the album.

I guess I could see why you like Terrifyer, it just never hit me that way? I always looked at it and went, well, it's nice, but it could be nicer.

Also, I checked most of the net stores I could find and they're either out of stock or overpriced, if they carry them. I can always just ebay them.

I didnt get a good listen..it sounds cool, but the samples are too short to actually enjoy the songs.

Combatwoundedveteran is like sex. Certain religious types might not want too much of it, but any normal person should enjoy it a great deal.

Very different anarcho/crust with male and female vocals. Better than most anarcho.

Sounds interesting, I'd like to hear some. Are the female vocals good?

AIRIC

I like them. But honestly (and I don't mean this in a sexist way), they're female vocals. Not much diversity in female vocals.

I'd still like to check them out.

i just got a few albums from em. if you want them ill send em. I really like them because they have a varity of sounds in their songs. Like "In the Name of Convinence" it starts out really soft and has a good message, than gets hella hard and fast. Rocks my socks.

They sound pretty interesting, I'd like to check them out, if only because I have a hard on for bands with male/female vocals, but I also am interested by the fact they try to do something different.

Where Eagles Dare have female vocals. That's a real good band, I love'em.

I only have the 4 way split with Contravene, Resist and Exist, Fallas de Systema, and Resistant Culture. I like Contravene's songs the most though. My friend also showed me some of their songs at his house that I liked a lot.

i no lolz

I just downloaded:
Sore Throat - Death To Capitalist Grindcore
Combatwoundedveteran - I Know A Girl Who Develops Crime Scene Photos
Iron Lung - Life Iron Lung Death
Tragedy - S/T
A'sshole Parade - Student Ghetto Violence

VERY nice. The only band I don't know on that list is Sore Throat but all of the others are awesome.

On the topic of HeavyHeavyLOLLOL... I do not like them.

Thank you Spencer. If I was capable, I would totally rep you!

I like them a lot, very very heavy, abrasive stuff. I like all the sound clip intros too.

If you like sound clip intros, Buzzov-en are for you. Most of their songs are like 9 minutes long with 5 minutes of movie clips / ambient sound intros.

They kind of suck though. But they have a few songs I like.
