Blasphemous!
Wolf Eyes aren't too good, and are Fantomas really noise? I always considered them some bastardization of grind and other stuff. They're good thought.
But Melt Banana is so good, also Merzbow, and if you find Fantomas interesting check out Naked City, Masada, and the other assorted John Zorn projects. Also, on a more local band level, Cryptorchid Chipmunk is a self described ska-core band from West Virginia who does some amazingly interesting things that are nowhere near ska-core, except for having horns.

They use a bassist on Natasha but that is it. The reason Pig Destroyer don't have a bassist is because that would be another member in the band which leads to more complexities they don't want to deal with, besides who the **** cares if they don't have one? They still destroy.

I don't see how punk not always having to be fast has anything to do with grindcore. Grind is always fast.
The difference is metalcore is metal influenced hardcore, while grind is just hardcore taken to it's most extreme level played really fast, etc.

It got more technical. If you listen to old stuff like Napalm Death, Assuck, etc., it sounds like a lot of noise with heavy riffs and drums. Nowadays, there's stuff with a lot more complicated guitar playing and such.

myself, I'm a straight up nerd. n-e-r-d. nerd. I know because one time I was walking outta the comic shop and Ogre from Revenge of the nerds ran up, screamed "NEEEEEERRRRRDS!!!" and tore up my IC: VU Special AND my OMAC Special. ....and he stuck a LTD. Edition Super Platinum Boba Fett action figure WITH FULL ARTICULATION right up my arse. I wept, not from the intense *** pain and profuse bleeding, but because that figure was MINT... never removed from box. I also use Pikachu as my picture on myspace because I'm deathly afraid of having my picture taken because it may steal my soul.... that, and Pikachu so kawaii ^___^;
...anyhow
JAtomic, what in particular do you dig about the Culture? Personally (and I know it seems shallow. Sue me.) I *really* get off on that brutal sound mixed with traditional instrumentation and chanting.

I just really dig the sound. The overall composition of the music and the integration of some of their native instruments. I have yet to listen to the entire album, but I def liked the stuff I had heard online.

Any of you guys dig Phoenix Bodies?

Heh, local band. They play here all the time, but I've never seen them. A bunch of my friends love them though.
I guess at every show the guy strips down to his underwear / diapers (as seen on their profile). My friend said one time someone pulled his pants down and he was running around naked for a while trying to sing and pull his pants up at the same time. Then after the song he's like "Oh man, no one's ever seen my penis before. You guys should feel special."
