I'm into lots of black metal bands. Some of the bands I like are:
1349
Darkthrone
Ulver
Craft
Graveland
Burzum
Mayhem
Vlad Tepes
Summoning
and many many more...
If any of you guys are wanting to get into black metal, bands I'd start out with are 1349, Darkthrone, Craft, and possibly Ulver.

I'm listening to RAMBO for the first time not on a split, and they are much better on full length than split. Like, a lot better, I actually like them. Do they have a different vocalist on their split with Caustic Christ, or is he just better on Bring It!?
I actually prefer the stuff on the splits a smidge more...

02-23-2006, 08:16 PM
I'm not an expert, but I think death metal is more technical and has cleaner production whereas black metal is raw and simpler than death metal. I'm not sure about this one, but typically in death metal the vocalists growl while in black metal, they have high pitched vocals. I'm bad at explaining, it's easy to tell the difference when you listen to the two though.

What's the difference between black and death?
Death metal is more of an expansion of thrash metal just with a bunch of brutality and a purge of rock from its bloodstream. Black metal was conglomeration of original black metal (venom, bathory, slayer, hellhammer, etc.) with a need for evil to be presented. Musically black metal is more straight forward while death metal is more complicated.

I don't really know much about death metal, but I know lots about black metal. Black metal is always full of tremelo picking, blastbeats, and usually high(ish) pitch screams. The lyrics stick to the subjects of fantasy, Satan, being anti-Christian, Paganism, and hate. Some NSBM bands even have racist lyrics in their music, that's the kind of stuff I don't go for.

You can create plenty of atmosphere without synth/keys. And female vocals. I personally don't like either of them, they have no place in black metal (for the most part). And Dimmu Borgir doesn't rule, listen to Craft.

If this is true, holy ****...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Hurley
Andrew John Hurley was born on May 31, 1980 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the drummer of the Chicago based band Fall Out Boy.
Previous Projects
Hurley played drums in the Chicago metalcore band Racetraitor, Milwaukee's Global Scam and Kill the Monkey Friends and in 1999 played drums on Vegan Reich's final EP. Later, Hurley started the emo pop band, Project Rocket, with future Spitalfield bassist T.J. Minnich (drugs). He then ventured into garage punk with Racetraitor frontman Mani M-ha Asaam Sta-fi and Since By Man guitar player Kevin Herwig forming The Kill Pill. He also played drums in various bands that included Fall Out Boy's bassist Pete Wentz, namely Culture of Violence with Tim Miller AKA "Straightedge Flames" AKA "STIXXX", and also had a short stint in the California powerviolence outfit Spazz.

This sucks, Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus broke up.
"Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus have decided to call it quits, vocalist Josh Vitale commented on the matter saying:
"We're all very upset to see this band go, but for now, this is the best decision we could decide on. We will all be in other bands, most likely not with each other. We had a lot of critics both positive and negative - both of which made us stronger people and we'd like to send out our thanks to those many who angered and inspired us enough to work harder , moreover, we want to thank everyone who supported this musical project for the past three years. Finally, thank you so much for making this a wonderful and unforgettable experience."
The bullentin continued for anyone who wants to a band...
ok now that everyone knows whats going on......
I am looking for drummers and guitar players. New project in the works, I am looking to make this project my primary focus. I have awesome, motivated and talented people coming together to work with me and I am honored, lucky and excited. However, I require yet another guitar player and a drummer who can not only haul *** on the BPMs (especially the bass drums), but can be creative/odd/original.
Enquiring parties MUST:
1. Live near/move to Tampa/St.Pete/Clearwater FL. area.
2. Have decent equipment, or ****ty equipment that works reliably and sounds awesome.
3. Be willing and able to commit to at least four practices a week.
4. Be willing and able to commit to a 3 month on, 2 month off tour schedule once the songs are solidified.
5. This music is going to be as bizarro as it is brutal and heavy; as well, the members are stable but weird people, so you must be chill and open minded.
6. Must love to write and play amazing music with no doubts about their abilities or goals.
Practice space will be provided. If you do not live in our area and we decide mutually to work together, temporary housing can be provided. Won't be luxurious, but it will be free.

What exactly is a ticklepit? Is it exactly what it sounds like?
Yes. The dive venue they were playing at had a zero-tolerance policy on violence, including mosh pits, and NOT are lovecore and anti-pit maschismo and all that, so it was a great compromise.
