Ah, I don't have soulseek. I'll just request some, thanks.

You shoulda seen lamb of god live at sounds of the underground... me and my friend started laughing. The guys like "AND THIS NEXT SONG IS CALLED DGABDHGAD!!!!" because he tried to scream the title and it just sounded like he was trying to force out a massive turd... very disturbing.
That accounts for 99% of metal vocalists out there.I think it's pretty stupid aswell.

Reverie/Harlequin Forest is my favorite song off the new album. The "A trail of sickness..." and the acoustic part that comes in at 5:07 are the parts in particular that get stuck in my head the most.
"Nocturnally helpless, weaken the lights
Depending on a prayer
Pacing desserted roads to find
A seed of hope"
That part is friggin awesome too.
Master's Apprentice was by far my favorite song on that album when I first bought it.The first riff is just soo infectious. As of late, I have grown more to like By the Pain I See in Others. It's so heavy.

Yea, exactly! The part that has been in my head ever since I heard it starts at around 5:36when the twin leads come in. It's so entrancing, beautiful writing on all parts.
Yeah, By The Pain I See In Others is a very lethal song. I listen to it all the time :) I love Deliverance.

Yes that is an awesome song such moments of brutality and such serene moments, start a convo about their lyrics, because theu're so beautiful and heartwrenching.
Flynn, was it you that wanted the lyrics to Harlequin Forest? I wrote them down the last time I listened to it so I could sing/growl along. It's my absolute favorite off the new album. It leads me to think Mikael's been reading Dante. The harlequin forest probably refers to the forest of the suicides. Eh.
Harlequin forest/Reverie
Into the trees
First light abounds
I'm further away
From my home
Baying behind me, i hear the hounds
Dogs chasing to find me, alone
A trail of sickness leading to me
if i am h(a)unted, then you will see
Search in the darkness, an emptiness
I'm hiding away from the sun
Will never rest, never be at ease
All my matters expire so I run
The trail of sickness leading to me
If I am haunted, then you will see
The dogs have arrived
Drives against the pain
Same regret that there was
INstrument of guilt before me
You thought youd seen it all
and you barely can survive
and you face the demons
as death becomes a gift
You're the laughing stock
of a (__ nightmare)?
Confessions stuck in your mouth
Like demons in their...
Nocturnally helpless, weakened in the light
Depending on a prayer
Facing deserted roads at night
A seed of hope
They are the trees, Rotten folk inside
Everywhere
Roots are sunken, fever from my source
Time bounds the future of all lies
Tales of false pretension, Harlequin forest
Awaiting redemption for a lifetime
yes, They die alone with no one by their side
Raaa
Darkened and troubled nature,
Close your inner soul
Unforgiven Beast inside,
Dank is your suffering, contort(?)
The woods are burning
Tearing us all asunder
Still by the smoldering earth/air.

To coldblooded, I do not mind that you do not like band such as htis. but I would like to hear a valid explination to why you do not like Opeth, and or heavy metal. I ust ask you why do you belive that opeth does not sing about reality? Listen to the song Still Day Beneath the Sun... That is just as real as your stupidity, If you're too lazy to do that, the song simply states how sad a person is after a lovedone died. Noob is'nt madeup, although it's not in the dictionary, it's slang.

Because if you have, why are you on this site wasting your precious time in your realty flaming other people's interests? Whattype of music do you listen to? I will say one thing to this though. Saying "[something] sucks" isn't having an opinion. It's making a completely ignorant statement, and makes you sound like a prick and is taken offensively.
Though it isn't much different, saying "I think [something] sucks" is having an opinion, and is taken respectfully and less offensively.
Yeah the sentances aren't much different, but the effect it has on people isn't the same, and very different.

But today I never noticed how awsome the acoustic outro to BWP is. It's sooo nice to sing to... even though they don't.
My thoughts exactly. :D
Also in the intro to ''Hours Of Wealth'', that's a good one to sing to.

But then TBYF could not be included. How in the hell are you going to fit that in the middle of the "movie"? It's definetly an ender, not filler.

Aww now I'm all excited to see a movie that doesn't nor ever will exist :upset:
They could start playing Blackwater Park, but when it gets the acoustic part, cut it out and stick TBYF in their, then after wards have it pick up where the heavy part to Blackwater Park comes back in. That would be sweet.

yeah that would be tight...
If any song from MAYH exist in it, it has to be the entire album (In Order), since it's all one story. And the story from that would generally be the basic plot to the movie itself.

I wouldn't want the movie to end with To Bid You Farewell though, It would be too depressing to end it like that, that song should be somewhere in the middle as a rise climax to a certain direction in the film. I still like the idea of BWP ending it...god I have goosebumps already and it doesn't even exist.

That's the one I was thinking would make the best story...well I don't know whether any of the other albums follow a storyline as well as MAYH.

Actually, with if you were using the MAYH story, the movie could open with TBYF. From what I remember it's about a guy who dies and is unable to leave because he still loves the woman he left behind.

Still life is tied with blackwater park as my favorite opeth album. I think they could mix it up a bit. Take certain songs from each album to dress up a sceen.
Same here. They can take the best ones like The Moor, Leper Affinity, Moonlapse Vertigo, The Drapery Falls, etc. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

This is a good time for me to make this post. My friend's cousin (who's one of those kids that has like 678 HIM shirts and loves Cradle of Filth and such) just IMed me abotu something and I was listening to 'The Grand Conjuration' so I was randomly like 'Opeth is awesome.' I didn't think he would know who they were but he did. And then he started telling me how his friend's band is super great and made a song that 'sounds like just Windowpane' and when I expressed doubt that they were as good as Opeth he said they were 'not as good but really F-in' close.' I asked him if they have a Soundclick or Myspace and he said 'Hold up.' So this thread should be getting really funny in a couple minutes.
Edit: Here's the song. It's not laughably horrible like I'd been hoping but here it is anyway for your listening pleasure:

Tori Amos, it'd seem. Here lately, I've been pondering which is better between Morningrise and Blackwater Park, and I've yet to come up with an answer. It sort of bugs me, because BP has all those great heavy riffs and Morningrise has those great dual guitar melodies.

It reaches another level of bad quality just like Orchid's bonus track.
I can stand listening to bands recorded through a video camera, but the bonus Opeth tracks are just so much worse. I've listened to them and they certainly do have shinny moments. The quality keeps me from coming back for more.

I think Blackwater Park is insanely heavy. I know Deliverance is heavy too, but its like someone said to one-dimensional. BWP is really brutal. The title song and songs like The Leper Affinty and The funeral Portrait are really rough compared to the new stuff aswell as old.
In that instance i would recommend getting Still Life first. ITs less heavy and more experimental.

Haha touche' I can't either :p I Do know that Morningrise had way more of an impact on me then any other Opeth album, or any other music album all together. I can't fathom the importance of Morningrise. All I know is whenever I hear the word ''Opeth'' I think Morningrise.
I think the album ''flows'' and has a certain vibe that no other album can touch. Reguardless of what others, or Mikael think - Morningrise stands out to me more then any album. I think it's because when I heard it - I never really heard Opeth before - and was amazed that such writing existed. I don't know for sure...all I know is I can't get enough of Morningrise - and recommend it to every Prog Metal fan out there.
Now don't get me wrong, I like everything Opeth writes...and listen to them frequently. I was obsessed with Orchid when I first bought it. I showed it to everyone I knew! But the first time I listened to Morningrise,...Speachless.

Go for it, it's not a bad idea, it has a lot of potential. And just because it's a sad concept album doesn't mean that it's an Opeth rip off. You have your own style, and it's not going to sound like Opeth unless you deliberately make it that way.
I love Ghost Reveries. There isn't excessive death metal vocals, and those always grate on my nerves. I don't like the clean guitar parts as much as the acoustic ones they usually do, but they're still great. Aside from a few iffy riffs the album is totally solid. The Grand Conjuration is awesome, I can't describe how much arse that track kicks. Especially the main riff...they could just play that riff for 10 minutes and I'd be happy.

MAYH one of the most original, well thought out concept albums I've seen IMO. It's heavier than their other albums, although there's still stuff like Credence and Opeth's characteristic contrasting heavy parts with softer ones. I think it's interesting how the songs tie together, not only through the storyline, but the last few words of each song are the title of the next one.

the last part are not new lyrics, it's just a certain passage of lyrics sung backwards, I can't remember which passage though..
I would be interested in hearing your concept idea behind it

Try right clicking that and saving onto your comp. I'm not too sure that would work but it is worth the try, right?
EDIT: Nevermind, that doesn't work.

:( What? You have a bad computer too? The video will play good for about 20 seconds and then it keeps the music coming but changes the video once every ten seconds...
I want to SEE it!
I'm assuming that having it loaded would fix the problem.
So help a bro bro out someone.

I don't know whether there is much substance to be had in that story to be honest. It should be larger scale I think, and maybe the family could get killed by a stray bomb or something. You're the judge though.

Are you talking about the album? There is no connecting story between the songs; it isn't a concept album. MAYH and Still Life are the only concept albums Opeth have done (unless Ghost Reveries is one, but I wouldn't know yet).

The lyrics are about Mikael's grandfather's death, so I'd imagine bad times are associated with that song. I'm sure you've all got albums that are connected with happy memories, sad ones, whatever.

So far ive heard Reverie/Harlequin forest, ghost of perdition, isolation years and The Grand Conjuration. So far, I'm undecided. From what i've heard, talk is it's Opeths 'most experimental album' to date etc. I understand Opeth need to evolve to stay alive but that doesnt mean take away intensity and passion. I haven't felt any of the these emotions with this new album (isolation years is really close).
For me the keyboards can both work and fail.
Opeth are at their devilishly best when they use guitars to create atmosphere.

I was gonna wait and buy it when released, but then I realized that I didn't have any money. So then I pirated it, and enjoyed the fruits of my labor.

Hey, I'm waiting to get Ghost Reveries too :p
But then again, there aren't many bands I'm willing to wait to get the album before I hear the new songs. Opeth's one of them :)

Does anyone want to put together some Opeth covers? Preferably "Windowpane" and "To Bid You Farewell". I'm a bassist and I might be able to vocals.
Hey! I'm the bassist here!
If you don't like it, you can just getout.
I hope you got the South Park reference there.

Personally I'm glad I'm not like that. The main riff on The Grand Conjuration blows you the hell AWAY. The album is good stuff.

I didn't download it.
Plus, I want a free drink.

weird that you have a minimum age for gigs, we don't have that here.
but I wouldn't really care, cause I'm 19
Actually, there are 21+ gigs here as well, so you wouldn't necessarily be completely off the hook. ;)
Yeah, it's lame.

My new favourite song off GR is Beneath The Mire. Gotta love that intro.

Yeah, that is a sweet intro. But I like "Ghost of Perdition" better. That's just me.

I'd have to wait to wait until next year to be able to go to those gigs. I'm glad the highest Canada goes is 19+ :D
Has anyone heard anything about a tour for GR?
