The production sounds great on all of these pieces. Really well integrated. The songs are emo though, and I'm sorry , the market is just flooded with this crap. All 3 songs are, soft pop/ whiny emo / p@ssy sh!t.
But again they are produced wonderfully. :)

I've wanted to hear your stuff for ages, and i must say I'm impressed.
Leaving Transition - Pretty much constant sweetness the whole way through. Vocals sound a bit fuzzy in places but the music is spot on. I like the way you've compensated for the lack of drums with the percussive nature of your guitar parts.
The Scenery Decays - I don't like this one quite as much, sounds a little thin and cheesy. Try a different drum beat under it and putting some more melodic layers on. It also seems to be a bit of an anti-climax at the end.
Our First Summer - Like the way this one's starting, good production. the lead accoustic motif is cool. I like the way this track climaxes and then calms down again in the middle. Maybe needs to last a bit longer.
Overall - Good job. As I mentioned before, some of the vocals sound a little fuzzy, but in terms of musical talent etc. I really like it.

Hey, like everyone else i love leaving transition. the only complain id have would be the vocals... that guitar work is just to fresh to spoil with vocals, id suggest maybe someoen with some better vocal chops, or maybe even female, someone Avril Lavigne sounding.. just a suggestion. nice work again man.. songs like this i love because they can be both artisticaly talented and radio/mtv hits...keep it up

wow no one replies in like a month and now it is a 2 page thread...
anyway, i do the vocals and i am self taught which explains my sucking. as to the question asking how long we have been a band, we arent really a band. this is just an acoustic sideproject i was a part of. we started writting songs right before we began recording. most of the finished songs had parts added on that we thought sounded cool (thus the four or so overdubbed guitars). all the recording was done in my associates bedroom with no studio time.

Wow dude, you've obviously put a lot of effort into recording these songs. Care to share any of your recording tips?
I liked all three songs, it's not really my sort of music but I can appreciate it's quality. I really liked the singing, thought it went really well with the instrumentation, which was superb. I thought maybe some clean electric overdubs would have worked well but hey you're the composer, and it's a minor point anyway. I hope you guys stick together, you have incredible potential.

i thought the guitar work was excellent, and the way you dubbed everything over sounded really tight.
the only thing ill have to complain about would be the singing. to me, whispering or singing softly is a complete cop out to actually singing. you also dont enounciate(sp?) very well. but your voice doesnt go off into all crazy directions when you do bring it up in volume, and for that i think you. you work with the range youve got and thats all you need to do. i cant tell you how many times ive heard some band trying to do vocals and sound monotone with absolutely no emotion, with horrible range to boot... anyway that brings me to the emotion you put in, excellent job.
id like to hear some more stuff, this was actually really good.

i appriciate the compliments.
as for the mics we used, i dont remember what they were (not recorded here) so i will have to check on that. and sorry, no pics are up yet.
and as for my vocals. i had to cop out because i cant really sing. well i suppose i have a decent voice, but i cant project at all without cracking. i am taking voice lessons now however

The production is very good and the songs sound alright, but I guess by virtue of the fact that they're all accoustic songs, they all kind of sound the same to me. I wouldn't worry about it though. Or maybe I spoke too soon, I just go to the third song.
Either way, keep it up. Is there any chance you could go through a detailed explanation of the process to record it? I think it'd be very interesting and really informative and helpful for a lot of people.

the recording process was actually very simple.
the best way to record an acoustic guitar is to have a mic, preferably one of the long skinny ones, pointing at the 12th fret and not directly at the opening.
when recording vocals, you need to have a screen in front of the mic so you can filter the hard P and K sounds so it doesnt distort. the poor mans way to do this is just get a clothes hanger and bend it into shape and put panty hose over it.
if you are recording at home like we did, also make sure to sound proof everything. Tape pillows around your computer to get rid of the humming, put up heavy blankets on all of your walls and doors. This also helps with acoustics in the room.
