well yeah, that too

aria
01-02-2008, 11:43 PM
I didn't say that only attacking batting kept me interesting, I'm just saying Australia is much more entertaining to watch. Nobody likes to see a team play negative cricket.

ya i didnt say australia wasnt entertaining i said to me this india innings is more entertaining and interesting i finnd this much better watching than a side dominating the bowlers
yesterdays pre symonds play was v exciting and is an exception

Alf™
01-02-2008, 11:46 PM
No, I find Australia interesting to watch bowl in that case.

samthebassman
01-02-2008, 11:46 PM
Dravid has been horrible to watch but you cant help but admire his determination.

JumpTheF**kUp
01-02-2008, 11:50 PM
And I don\'t think you are right Jump, he has just struggled to find opportunities to get runs.

He seemed to score runs just fine towards the beginning of the innings, and he\'s increased his tempo after Laxman slowed down.

But I\'m in Sri Lanka atm so I can\'t watch it, I\'m just assuming this from the innings commentary on cricinfo.

Alf™
01-02-2008, 11:51 PM
Oh yes, he has started scoring runs, but you would expect that after 100+ balls.

What's with the slashes?

samthebassman
01-02-2008, 11:57 PM
Great 100.

Time for some spin from Symonds or Clarkey.

aria
01-02-2008, 11:58 PM
great knock laxman what a ****ing champion

JumpTheF**kUp
01-02-2008, 11:59 PM
Oh yes, he has started scoring runs, but you would expect that after 100+ balls.

idk this computer is being gay

it does it before every apostrophe

Alf™
01-02-2008, 11:59 PM
Great innings from Laxman. Good on him.

aria
01-03-2008, 12:04 AM
cant say im a fan of johnson would probably be more succesfull if he made the batsmen playat atleast some of his deliveries

stiff on taity bring him in

Alf™
01-03-2008, 12:06 AM
I'm not a big fan of Tait. Johnson has been doing well, so no reason to leave him out. That is the way the Aussies get wickets, just work at the batsman, just outside off stump.

Also, Johnson is pretty quick, so pace isn't a factor in favour for Tait any more.

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 12:11 AM
****! the Aussies cant take a trick today.

That catch looked out on the replay.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 12:18 AM
Bloody hell that looked out. Dravid very lucky.

Edit: Now he can go away. No doubts on that one.

aria
01-03-2008, 12:21 AM
fantastic innings by dravid great show of his strong character mega respect hopefully can continue raising hisform from here in next innings so we can see one of the best batsmen in the world

Alf™
01-03-2008, 12:22 AM
241 minutes, would want to have made a bigger score than that. But I agree, hopefully the world class batsman we have seen on previous tours will be back in form soon.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 12:26 AM
What a champion team and what bowling. You will never be on top of Australia for long as shown in both innings in this match.

Great innings for Laxman, but India probably needed more from him.

aria
01-03-2008, 12:26 AM
absolute shocker if only laxman and dravid could hav batted the day out

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 12:31 AM
One more tonight would be sweet.

Grumma
01-03-2008, 01:04 AM
Dravid\'s actually being smart about his batting, although some singles wouldn\'t go astray.

He\'s seen Laxman playing attacking cricket and decided that if Laxman\'s going to take the attack, then he\'ll have to be the anchor as Laxman has more chance of getting out. So he\'s just slowly, but steadily scoring runs.

Steadily scoring runs?
I reckon I'd do a better job.

And in reply to the whole anchor bs the Australian's have 11 attacking batsmen and they're the best team in the world.
You can't win test matches by blocking every delivery

aria
01-03-2008, 01:08 AM
yes australia is the best team in the world and other teams struggle against us i think we know that already

and gg comparing urself to dravid makes me wonder why other countries think australia are arrogant sportsppl

Grumma
01-03-2008, 01:13 AM
I take the stick cricket motto: hit out or get out.

with a bit of luck i'd get a few edges over the slips ;)

Alf™
01-03-2008, 01:14 AM
I think we can afford to be arrogant, when we have been the best team in the world for more than 10 years.

aria
01-03-2008, 01:18 AM
u can if u want idk im a modest person by nature would rather not be a disrespectful dick head about it but thats just me

Alf™
01-03-2008, 01:22 AM
I haven't seen anyone be disrespectful. You can be pretty arrogant at times.

aria
01-03-2008, 01:26 AM
idk maybe ur not good at understanding respectthen

no im never arrogant maybe ur confusing me with some one else

Alf™
01-03-2008, 01:30 AM
India will get respect when they deserve it. By the way they are playing, I can't really blame someone if they were disrespectful.

eevery team sucks but aus

I don't know, but I find this to be pretty arrogant :).

radtaste
01-03-2008, 01:30 AM
Bloody hell, Laxman should have survived the day.

Good cricket (bar Dravid).

edit: hoping for Tendulkar and Ganguly to do something special tomorrow.

aria
01-03-2008, 01:33 AM
well thats ur values then i was broght up different then that i have respect for someone until they cause me to feel otherwise and dravid has done nothing worhty of losing my respect

idk to me grummas post there is disrespectful and completely lacking in empathy

idk i think u can tell by my last couple of postings that i was not serious there australia is one of my least favourite cricket teams bveleive it or not.
but idk my internet persona is a huge ashole i already knew that

Alf™
01-03-2008, 01:47 AM
That's nice. I actually respect India and Dravid.

aria
01-03-2008, 01:51 AM
yeai said grumma was disrespectful didnt have a porblem with anything u said as u mostly are good at stating just teh facts

but then u changed the topic to india dont deserve respect and its ok to be disrespectful which is waht i replied to

so yea hope tendulkar makes a big one

Alf™
01-03-2008, 01:52 AM
Personal opinion I suppose, but we have all been arrogant and disrespectful at times.

Would be good to see Tendulkar make a big one. But, I want Hogg to bamboozle him.

radtaste
01-03-2008, 01:58 AM
Should have stayed at home this morning, missed Lee making a half century. What time were they all bowled out?

Alf™
01-03-2008, 02:11 AM
About 12.

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 05:41 AM
Lee played a great innings, certainly not what you expect from a test number 9.

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 05:44 AM
Interesting to see Shane Bond may have played his last game for NZ. They can ill afford to loose him.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 07:06 PM
Pup is actually bowling very well today.

Grumma
01-03-2008, 07:07 PM
gagulys got him covered

don't want to rethink this statement do you?

aria
01-03-2008, 07:11 PM
nope i agree with the commentators hes just not giving him any respect and getting out to stupid batting

yea i think hes got him covered v well hes just not playing him intelligently

radtaste
01-03-2008, 07:11 PM
Man, three times for Ganguly, gets a good start then screws up somehow.

aria
01-03-2008, 07:12 PM
yea hes in lifeitme best form and getting out to stupid batting
pretty frustrating for everyone

aria
01-03-2008, 07:15 PM
great fitty by tendulkar needs to make big hunj

Alf™
01-03-2008, 07:18 PM
Doesn't look to be at his best though.

Grumma
01-03-2008, 07:25 PM
yeah i thought we could have kept the spinners on for a bit longer, ah well.

also by the looks of it Johnson's is bowling into the wind - reckon we'd be better off using Clark with the new ball if that's the case

Grumma
01-03-2008, 08:28 PM
Binga!

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 08:29 PM
Johnson needs to make these guys play at more balls!

Alf™
01-03-2008, 08:30 PM
Singh and Dhoni have really struggled this series.

aria
01-03-2008, 08:32 PM
Johnson needs to make these guys play at more balls!

yep agreed

kumble needs to realy hang in there

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 08:32 PM
They probably should have played Sehwag in place of Yuvraj.

aria
01-03-2008, 08:34 PM
nope

yuvraj has been scoring hundreds at test level recently

sehwag hasnt been making double figures at first class level

if they are going to dorp anyone for sehwag its jaffa (sehwag couldnt do much worse regardless of his form)

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 08:40 PM
In fairness to Jaffer he has been their most succesful test batsman of the last calender year, so he should be perservered with for a little while. Yuvraj looked terrible with the bat and was useless in the field during Boxing day test, so I reckon there was good cause for him to be dropped, Sehwag to come in and open with Jaffer and everyone else to slide down a spot in the order.

At the very least Sehwag would get India away to a positve start with the bat, rather than them being behind the eight ball from the very start of their innings.

aria
01-03-2008, 08:43 PM
k im sure the indian selectors are more informed then us

Alf™
01-03-2008, 08:49 PM
Frustrates me that you guys keep telling Johnson to make the batsmen play at the ball more, because his bowling plan is to work away at a line and length outside of off stump. That is how he gets wickets.

aria
01-03-2008, 08:53 PM
nope i agree with the commentators

hecould bowl a bit closer to off from what ive seen him bowl the batsmen can leave 90 percent of his balls with confidence

hes bowling ok v tidy figures at times because of this but could be more threatening i thikn

Alf™
01-03-2008, 08:55 PM
But then with the 10% he gets wickets or edges, so I'd be happy with that.

I don't know, but I can understand what he is doing having played with many bowlers like him.

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 09:06 PM
Frustrates me that you guys keep telling Johnson to make the batsmen play at the ball more, because his bowling plan is to work away at a line and length outside of off stump. That is how he gets wickets.

Thats how 95% of fast bowlers get their wickets, there is nothing wrong with his plan for getting these guys out but he is just bowling far too wide at the moment, every now and then he gets it just right and the batsmen are all at sea but most of the time they have option of leaving the ball, it's made worse by the fact that he never really swings the ball back into the right handers.

aria
01-03-2008, 09:08 PM
ya idk i didnt like him from teh start but only becuase if he plays taits out :( go taity

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 09:12 PM
I dont have problem him with keeping his place in the team, he hasn't done anything wrong in test or one day cricket since debuting, I think Tait will play at the WACA though. I dont know who they'll leave out for him though.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 09:28 PM
I doubt Tait will play in this series.

aria
01-03-2008, 09:29 PM
i doubt ti as well unfortunately

am lovin this cricket at the moment go harbjahn lmfao

Alf™
01-03-2008, 09:30 PM
I like playing the Indians, because we get to see all different types of bat brands.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 09:55 PM
What a hundred to Tendulkar. What a special player.

aria
01-03-2008, 09:59 PM

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 10:00 PM
Credit to him but it wasn't a great innings.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 10:03 PM
Good to see Pup have another bowl.

aria
01-03-2008, 10:06 PM
i thought its been a pretty great innings when the chips r down

or are u talking a bout harbajahn

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 10:17 PM
Who do you guys reckon will win this test?

I'm out for a while to go clean up for the cyclone.

Alf™
01-03-2008, 10:19 PM
Probably be a draw or Aussie win.

samthebassman
01-03-2008, 10:20 PM
i thought its been a pretty great innings when the chips r down

or are u talking a bout harbajahn

I meant Tendulkar's 100, I dont think it's a memorable knock. Laxman's 100 was a great knock because India had their backs to the wall and he came out and counter attacked.

Harbajahn couldn't have played any better than he has so far.

aria
01-04-2008, 12:09 AM
gr8 stuff here best cricket ive seen against australia in a long time

Alf™
01-04-2008, 12:13 AM
They are going alright, but they got to hit out now or be in danger for a drawn test.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:18 AM
The way Tendulkar is playing doesn't make sense, he should be thrashing it or Kumble should declare and get the Aussies out there tonight.

aria
01-04-2008, 12:19 AM
they are scoring v well atm dont see a problem with it
pretty sure they would be happy with a drawn test btw

gr8 to hear chappelly has positive things to say about the opposition as usual

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:20 AM
Tendulkar should be trying to hammer them though, not taking singles.

aria
01-04-2008, 12:21 AM
idk the other dude is doing ok

give tednulkar a call tonight adn tell him what he shoulda done different

Alf™
01-04-2008, 12:26 AM
See, that is the problem with India and the rest of world cricket. They are happy with draws. That is a disgrace, so negative.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:28 AM
Exactly right, Tendulkar is playing selfish cricket!

aria
01-04-2008, 12:28 AM
thy dont look like neagative to me

but im sure they would be content with a draw against the aussies who have won 15 in a row and slaughter everyone
im sure idia is tryin its hardest to win these tests

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:30 AM
Why would you be content with a draw? You're in a great position in the game and if you play well you could level the series.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 12:31 AM
Every country that comes to Australia is happy with a draw, and that is why Australia will remain on top of world cricket for a long time.

aria
01-04-2008, 12:32 AM
being content with a draw and trying to draw is different

idont think they are tryin to draw wtf it is tuff out there you guys are pathetic

great innings india best entertainment all summer so far  :thumb:

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:33 AM
About time, that was a piss poor passage of play by India, I wanna see the Aussies destroy them now.

aria
01-04-2008, 12:35 AM
fantastic passage of play by india sharma showed strong character what aggressive batting by the number 11 plenty of boundaries
excellently played by tendulkar having faith in the tail enders paid off big time

Grumma
01-04-2008, 12:38 AM
I was hoping Brett Lee would bowl bouncers and injure a couple of bowlers.
Would be karma against India for pretty much guaranteeing a drawn test unless there is a collapse somewhere.

And it isnt just Symonds that got lucky with an umpiring decision, Clarke had Tendulkar plumb lbw about 100 runs of his ago

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 12:40 AM
I guess it paid off for Tendulkar, another not out means his average goes up :p

aria
01-04-2008, 12:46 AM

Grumma

aria
01-04-2008, 01:42 AM

Grumma
01-04-2008, 02:57 AM
That he's still in despite looking "v bad".

You could say the same about Dravid too, although at least we know Jaques will look to score runs

aria
01-04-2008, 02:59 AM
still dont get ur point i know that jacques is still in i own a tv  dravid did look bad. um?

Alf™
01-04-2008, 05:04 AM
No matter how bad he was, who cares, because the main point is he is still alive and out there for a new day. He was just making a point idk.

aria

Hey this isn't baseball lol.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 06:17 AM
Pity to see the Bushrangers lose tonight in the 20/20. Should have scored 200.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 06:22 AM
I didn't even know there was a game on. I'll have to check out baggygreen.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 06:25 AM
There were a couple I'm pretty sure. Pretty entertaining even to listen to on the radio.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 06:28 AM
Yeah just checking now, Warriors chased down 186 with 2 overs to spare. Fair chase!

Tassie chased down 157 against NSW, Bailey cracked another 50 odd, he has an awesome 20/20 record.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 06:30 AM
Yeah, the commentators reckon good scores can vary in this competition. Like you could win with 140 on the board, or a team could easily chase down 180.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 06:35 AM
I watched the WA v Tas game on new years eve, 180 looked a good score but Tassie chased it down easily.

20/20 is gonna make a huge impact on oneday cricket, I reckon we will start seeing massive scores more often.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 06:37 AM
Yes, teams should be looking at 400 soon.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 06:49 AM
England dropped Matt Prior from their test and ODI squads for the NZ tour, they seem to be getting back into their old habits of continually chopping and changing their squads... but I guess thats what happens when you keep losing.

England Test squad Michael Vaughan (capt), Tim Ambrose (wk), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Steve Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Phil Mustard, Monty Panesar, Kevin Pietersen, Owais Shah, Ryan Sidebottom, Andrew Strauss, Graeme Swann.

Check it out, Harbhajan has to face the match referee over his altercation with Symonds today, he has been charged with a level 3 offence which means if he's guilty he'll be suspended for 2-4 tests or 4-8 ODI's... haha, what a d'ckhead.

radtaste
01-04-2008, 07:48 AM

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 07:54 AM

radtaste
01-04-2008, 07:57 AM
Of course. You've just provoked an image of Andrew Symonds as a 'professional' wrestler. Would have been an entertaining character.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 05:09 PM
Yeah, that's pretty serious stuff. Harbhajan might be in the deep end with this one.

Alf™
01-04-2008, 05:22 PM
Slater reckons that Harbhajan used the word monkey again, and Australia think he went too far. Disappointing, because I really enjoy watching Harbhajan playing.

God Tony Greig is stupid.

01-04-2008, 08:59 PM
Not a bad bunny to have.

Pitch is starting to play a bit up and down now, a chase of around 200-250 would be a major challenge.

Not a bad bunny to have.

Of course, but I still think Ponting will forever have nightmares unless he scores a century off him or something.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 09:08 PM
Last time the Indians were here Ponting hit 250 and 257 in consecutive tests against them, so Harbhajan hasn't had it all his own way.

aria
01-04-2008, 09:29 PM
good tosee ponting getting some time out in the middle for a change

Grumma
01-04-2008, 09:41 PM
well if the rain stays for more than a little longer no result for this test i say

Alf™
01-04-2008, 09:42 PM
Really struggle to get a result. Australia will bat into tomorrow, and try and roll India in two sessions.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 09:55 PM
I'm not so sure, if they can get a lead of 250 by stumps I reckon they'll declare overnight and have the full day at them tomoz.

aria
01-04-2008, 10:38 PM
umpires still doing what they can to keep india out of it

definite draw if australia keep playing this way shame really

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 10:50 PM
Whats wrong with the way Australia's playing? Is it their fault it's been raining?

Also, Bangladesh 0-141 in their second innings in the first test against NZ.

aria
01-04-2008, 10:53 PM
nothings wrong with it unless they wanna win
they hav pickd up since i saoid that

adn my post didnt say ne thing about rain not sure what that was all about

sgrevs
01-04-2008, 10:56 PM
i agree with aria, umpires have done a pretty poor job, india have been pretty unlucky. harbajan and kumble have been bowling excellently, i want them to get something from this.

samthebassman
01-04-2008, 10:59 PM
Great knock by big Haydos, a ton on one leg.

What do you suggest the Australian team should do in this situation?

Aficionado
01-04-2008, 11:36 PM

Kumble seems to be losing the plot a bit here

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 12:24 AM
It was only a matter of time before they went defensive.

aria
01-05-2008, 12:26 AM
agreed they should be batting aggressive terrible stuff

aria
01-05-2008, 12:35 AM
yep kumbles really losin the plot here

on a hat trick

couple quick ones more makes it interesting

samthebassman

Something else for the Indian fans to whine about.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 12:41 AM

aria
01-05-2008, 12:43 AM

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 12:44 AM
Good call.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 12:50 AM
He took a giant step down the pitch and it hit him fair high up. It was going about 10 cm over the stumps, I don't think hawk eye could get it that wrong.

aria
01-05-2008, 01:23 AM
hmmmm pretty gutless that not sure whats going on right now with the aussies obvioulsy not going for the win like the indians pretty dissapointing for cricket and the supporters that showed up

agree with commentators hopefully india can do the same ting tomorrow then if need be

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 01:38 AM
I reckon that was pretty average by the Aussies to walk off tonight, it's gonna be hard to get a result now.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 01:39 AM
Anyone watching this beach cricket on channel 10? Border just went off tap.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 01:51 AM
Also loving the Valvoline ad with Punter, funny stuff.

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 01:54 AM
Darwin sucks, no channel 10 here.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 01:54 AM
Now Graeme Hick letting his arms go loose.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 01:58 AM

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 05:46 PM
This is gonna be a boring draw.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 05:53 PM
Yes, would be nice for the Australians to play some shots.

aria
01-05-2008, 05:54 PM
yep

very puzzling stuff from the aussies here

:(

Alf™
01-05-2008, 06:04 PM
Why wouldn't we swing the bat for an hour, with 6 wickets in hand. Get 100 runs in the hour and declare 350 in front with 70 off overs to get them out.

aria
01-05-2008, 06:06 PM
idk playing for a draw but i have no idea why

Alf™
01-05-2008, 06:08 PM
This Sharma guy has been struggling. Can't get his run up right.

aria

Alf™
01-05-2008, 07:02 PM
Batting to lunch it looks like.

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 07:09 PM
I guess the Aussies are banking on negative batting by India, same as England at Adelaide last year.

aria
01-05-2008, 07:11 PM
it still doesnt make sense

dissapointing stuff

inda would not have aproblem at all with this there batting line up is better and far more experienced then england had

but who knows this will still be v interesting to me if india bats SOON

samthebassman
01-05-2008, 07:12 PM
That said, if the Aussies needed to make 330 from 70 overs I reckon they would have a crack.

Alf™
01-05-2008, 07:13 PM
Declaration. Couple of overs before lunch.

aria
01-05-2008, 07:14 PM
yea would love to see india go for this but i thikn its aussies fault that this will be a draw

aria
01-05-2008, 07:26 PM
jaffa can not play next test

Alf™
01-05-2008, 07:36 PM

Alf™
01-05-2008, 09:25 PM
