Robinho was a major attraction until people realized, about 4 games in, that Man City weren't even going to match their achievements of last season.

The same will no doubt happen to Kaka.

Pastorius

Money wise, he'd be a fool not to take 13.65 million a season, but football wise, he could go to so many better clubs.

Iai
01-15-2009, 02:46 PM
The bottom line is that they won't make it into the Champions League within the next 7 years, at least. There are two types of player, and the type that works hard, wants medals, and will dig in when the going gets tough isn't going to go to City. The type that is looking for an opportunity to make a load of money without working too hard, and who will look great in a winning team and awful in a losing one, is what they're going to end up with, and a team made up of those kind of players will never succeed - not just because of their own mentality, but because their laziness will demoralize the likes of Ireland, Dunne, and Hamann, and set a poor example to the wealth of promising young players they have.

I could see the appeal for Robinho. At the end of the day, I think he was seeking the ultimate personal glory. If Man City had been a success this season, he would be assured legend status forever at that one club. It'd be the Robinho era. That might still happen, but only if there are no more marquee signings. The opportunity for anybody else to achieve that glory has now passed. Now.....what? No true, hard-working professional is going to move for money unless they haven't found international fame yet, and the City owners don't even seem to want to sign the Andres Guardados and the Jean Il Makouns of the world, let alone anybody less famous, lest the City fans complain that they haven't heard of them.

If I was a City fan I'd actually be seriously depressed. At least our best player has spent his entire international career falling over Nihat.

I think he might, if only to help out AC who will want that money to replace current squad members.

91 mil is a stupid amount of money and no team in the world can turn it down for one player. It's down the Kaka and whether he wants to do it for AC, or if City can convince him that they will be battling for trophies in the next few years. He's never struck me as a money grabber, is commited to Milan, I can't see him moving for money (he gives a portion of everything he earns to charity I believe).

Dave de Sylvia

Spurs should sell Ledley King. I know he's the captain and all, but there's a point where you should just move on. United did it with Ronnie Johnsen and he had another few good years at a less demanding level. Sometimes you just need to call time on a crocked player.

Speaking of Nugent, how bad was that miss in the first half? I can never understand players who miss from 5 years then bang them in from 25.

TakeWarning
01-19-2009, 01:50 AM
The Ledley King situation certainly is a conundrum. On the one hand, he's by far and away the best defender we have when fit. On the other hand, it's unsettling for the back four and unfair on the other defenders who work hard only to be replaced by King whenever he's fit. I can't imagine the club would ever sell him, he's remained loyal to Spurs and he's our academy's best product in years; I've no doubt he'd be world class if it weren't for his fitness problems. But I agree, unless there is a significant improvement in his fitness levels, his best move would be to retire or to take it down a notch.

Speaking of Nugent, how bad was that miss in the first half? I can never understand players who miss from 5 years then bang them in from 25.

"Kaka is a great champion and a great man. He's refused the offer from Manchester City giving privilege to Milan, his companions and his fans.

"He said it's because money isn't everything in life. Kaka is staying with us and we're delighted. Money is important, but there are also other things that are important.

Fans had also gathered outside Kaka's house and he responded by beating his hand three times on his heart while holding a Milan shirt.

countless domestic cups what has that got to do with it?"

"76,000 why?"

"yes, every game, even minor cups I suppose, but where is this getting

They've got Cudicini too, who will presumably replace the keeper Harry did not disrespect in any way, apart from not knowing his name and saying he didn't trust him.

Pennant to Pompey's an interesting one. Could save their skin.

Oh and in the most pointless bit of business ever, apparently we've swapped Mido for Marlon King.

He's just going to make it more unbalanced by signing decent players for far too much money and leave them in as rough financial shape as he left Portsmouth. God, I used to like Spurs when Jol was in charge but since then I just ugh

Result was proof justice doesn't exist in football. I wouldn't fancy coming up against Burnley in the play-offs though, they have real cup match pedigree. If they can hang on to their best players, that is.

Loads of rules that have been forgotten are popping up, like the one where a team can choose to play ET instead of having to replay.
They seem a little outdated tbh, maybe a review is needed.

Also, I'm a little confused at how Chimbonda's been allowed back after only 6 months away, I thought the rules stated that a player couldn't move twice in a year?

Dave de Sylvia

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has hit back at complaints from Sunderland that they're unsettling Kenwyne Jones.

Black Cats manager Ricky Sbragia has made no secret of his fury at the manner of Spurs' approach for Jones - but Redknapp has revealed how Darren Bent has been made aware of interest from Sunderland.

"Is someone upsetting Darren Bent? He came to see me and says 'I hear Sunderland want me'," Redknapp said. "I said 'I don't know, I haven't spoken to anyone at Sunderland'.

"He said 'well my agent says they want me'. So someone is talking to someone. I could say the same thing, that Sunderland are upsetting Darren Bent."

ok, liverpool.

i reckon rafa actually has a plan and it involves mascherano, alonso, gerrard, keane and torres. hes looking at the fixture list in both league and cup(s) and will start to unleash his best side towards the end of february and hopefully go on a run. he actually thinks there is some strength in depth in the liverpool squad and repeatedly hopes that players like lucas will come through for him. a bit like ferguson really

arsenal will get stronger in the near future. players returning and perhaps one in will make them a different proposition. stronger midlfield, stronger defensively and they will be competing

chelsea are doing the best they can. its just not happening as it should given the talent but watch out when they click, they will kick on.

manu are going ok but, like liverpool, they need to start playing their best team more and more. its getting to that stage where you have to make sure you are well in contention in early march

villa are in with a real chance. o'neill could replace any of the top four managers and make the team compete and win things. its whether any of them are eyeing him as a replacement. certainly manu would have him after ferguson, liverpool would love him after rafa and he is just the man to mix wengers legacy with his own brand of team football. not sure he'd go to chelsea

1556: Liverpool have confirmed they have "agreed a deal" with Tottenham for the transfer of Robbie Keane back to White Hart Lane.

I'm pretty sure Tottenham confirmed the deal with Liverpool would be cash-only. If Lennon left, I'd be gutted. Sure he may not be too good at shooting or crossing, but he tries, dammit. He tries.

I wonder how much it was/will be.
