We have worse problems then that now mate, have you heard about Bellamy, looks like he's going for good now. Personaly I think he's a pure class act on the pitch and we need people like him to be honest. I admit what he did was wrong (pretending to be injured) but to be fair it's not like he hasn't tried to play on the right. Ive seen him put 110% effort in playing on the right for quite a few games.

I can't be arsed to write anymore, but i will say, yes he's done something wrong and it's not the first time but he's a good player. He's Newcastle thruogh and thruogh when he's on the pitch, just a shame about when he's not.

Yeah, it'll be a pretty big blow to Newcastle if they lose Bellamy. I've always admired him as a player and he has been one of the most consistent players for Newcastle over the past few seasons.

Boumsong injured for a month as well, he was starting to look like reaching his potential pretty soon too... Bellamy was a bit of an idiot refusing to play, he is payed to play after all. Souness will probably batter him.

Newcastle players are idiots. Dyer, Bellamy, Bowyer etc.. all good players though.
If Bellamy goes then we will need 2 new strikers as Ameobi definatley cant be Bellamy's or Shearers replacement

Shay Given can be an amazing keeper, and theres no one else I'd want to see in front of the sticks then him. Yes there is better keepers but are they the same quality person as Shay, me thinks not. Remeber a few years ago when he was out for quite a while with a brkoen hand, well my dad and his mate went to watch Toon train and had a good chat with Shay who was also watching for a bit. My dad couldnt say enough good things about him when he got back, he's a very down to earth guy and he genuienly loves Newcastle.

Oh yeah, and he is one of the best in Britian, top 10 in Europe I reckon.

petr cech is the most overated keeper in the premiership. If you look at the stats hes got the worst distribution rate out of all the keepers in the premiership. The only reason he is keeping those claen sheets is because of the chelsea defense, i bet if you put him behind another back four he wouldnt do half as well.

Yeah, he is pretty overrated. I don't think there's any doubting that he is a good goalkeeper, but the praise that he's been getting is over the top. If it wasn't for Terry, Carvalho, Gallas etc. and the fact that Chelsea are pretty much always attacking, I don't think he'd have as many clean sheets.

The Bellamy Vs Newcastle United row battled on today, who's side is everyone on? or don't you care. Im not going to go off on one weighing up all the facts because I can't be arsed, but I'll say this.

I think Souness is slightly out of place, he was right to not play him on Sunday however I think theres a point where he needs to swallow his pride.

Bellamy has some explaining to do, and will have to suffer the consequences (so far 2 weeks wages)

Freedy Sheperd is supposed to be the man in the middle, I hope he stays in the middle, he's spent money on the club so has the right to input but I think he should try and stay neutral.

Over all I'm on Bellamy's side, I want him to stay. I'll back up everything I've just said if anyone wants an argument :thumb: But I'm also open to other peoples opinions

jaymz_is_god
01-25-2005, 12:40 PM
I don't really care about the issue. It seems to have been blown out of all proportion. I do think it'd be in Newcastle's best interests to try and keep Bellamy at the club, because he is a very talented player.

I think Bellamy should get a harsher punishment and it should set an example to other players

Rancid Dan
01-25-2005, 01:23 PM
But hasn't Souness not got on with a lot of players? He always starts arguments and things like that. There were a couple of players at Blackburn which he drove out.

We need Bellamy though.

devils_night
01-25-2005, 01:39 PM
Yeah, I think the problems with Souness, Bellamys been at the club longer and until the weekend was a firm favourite in most fans eyes, for effort, skill and goals scored etc, KEEP HIM.
and I hope all the fans forgive him to, otherwise I won't be able to wear my away shirt (it has his name on the back)

Rancid Dan
01-25-2005, 01:44 PM
I think they're both to blame but one thing's for sure - Newcastle has the worst team spirit and bad press in the Premiership because of players such as Bellamy, Dyer, Bowyer and Robert.

True, it's such a shame. We have a squad full of top players, a huge top of the range stadium and we play in Europe (well, probably's not next season).
What the hell's going on when players off th pitch antics take over all of the above. I should be reading about how we're in fierce competition with Arsenal, Chelsea etc to win the league, NOT how Bellamy threw a chair at Carver, and why half our players won't play on the right

I think it's because most of the stadiums are right next to the pitch. It makes the fans seem a lot more involved than in a lot of European grounds where there are athletics tracks etc. between the crowd and the pitch.

Hold on there mate, don't be to sure. We've struggled against lesser teams than Coventry. And with all the things going on with the club this week, one or two players minds may be elswhere. Remeber league positions count for nothing in the FA Cup, I mean Yeading are 6 leagues lower than us and for 50 minutes kept the scores level. Coventy will come out guns blazing, and have every right to believe they can come away with a place in the next round.

Gotta give credit to Giggs goal though, well taken, and an entertaining match all round. And it also gives a scary prospect that Chelsea, if they avoid injuries/fatigue/suspensions, might just go and win every domestic cup this year. The FA cup is the only one I see them having any serious problem with. The title race is in their hands now, and unless they do a Newcastle, it should be theirs.

I just read this on www.nufc.com the un-official toon site.

Latest:
Toon jury out

Craig Bellamy will never play for Newcastle United again while I am in charge - that's what the manager told journalists on Friday morning, as reported initially by BBC Radio5.

Souness commented:

“He can’t play for me ever again. He can’t go on television and accuse me of telling lies.

“I’m not going to dwell on it, but I think in most walks of life, that would be the case.

“I’ve covered it in my programme notes tomorrow for the game and really people can read my side of the story and then maybe can make their judgment on it.”

I'll be looking forward to reading the programme tomorrow.
As far as it stands now I Want Souness out, he's put his own pride first over the club. His pride isn't going to score us goals and try very hard every single game, but Bellamy would. One of them's got to go and I want it to be Souness, not Bellamy

I'm pissed at Souness because of this pride thing he has, let Bellers play tomorrow, give him a chance up front, 90 minutes and let him prove himself. The boo-ing he'll suffer is surely punishment enough, and if he apologises, shuts up and stays shut up I don't think there will be a problem

Ameobi and Kluivert will be happy though, no chance of him playing for us now, I want to see what the line up will be now.
I reckon Milner on the right or possibly Dyer, and Kluivert up front with Ameobi on the bench. Ameobi will start tomorrow though because PK's still not wuite 100% fit I don't think

I'd say he is around 6 million, however strikers are always worth more than they actually are. Rooney a prime example. Even though he is a class player, I would never of gone over 20 million max for him. Around 15 mill would of been more realistic, and maybe Bellamy shouldn't be much more than 5 mill.

People forget Euro2004 so soon, you can't deny his great performance's for them or at man utd right now. Wright Phillips is a good player but there's a reason why Rooney plays for England.

The kid always seems to step up a level on the big occasion which is great for england but not so good for man utd who need him on a weekly basis with van nistelrooy out. Anyway, Rooney is a striker, Wright-Phillips is a winger so i fail to see the relevance of the comparison. Erikson mentioned in a press conference last week that he might play Wright-Phillips on the left against holland in a couple of weeks which isn't a bad idea but i'd prefer to see Stu Downing given a real chance to shine.

I'd say the complete opposite, being a neutral.

I'd have given the Portsmouth penalty, definite contact, but the Southampton one was ball to shoulder, nowhere near his arm. As soon as the player sticks his arm out he's at risk of giving away a penalty, but I'd say it hit his shoulder.

He should be worth more than most players, but 30 is dumb so your right there. He's a big game player, thats where he shines and why Fergie bought him. He knew he could come out and score those important goals in important games.

Rooney's two strikes tonight were amazing. If we can only find a way to get that out of him every game then he might justify the £30m price tag.

I think he's a great player but £30m is over the top. I would have paid up to £15m.

If our manager is a stupid dickhead scot, why has he been one of the most successful managers in English football history and why was he knighted? I think he'd need to know quite a lot about football to achieve these things and therefore would not be stupid. Being red is completely irrelevant.

Our defence happens to be one of the best in the Premiership, conceding only 14 goals this season. Only Chelsea have conceded less.

Ruud van Nistelrooy happens to be one of the best strikers in Europe. A record of 129 goals in 155 games for Manchester United including 37 goals in 39 games in the UEFA Champions League does not lie. His international record ain't too shabby either, scoring 20 in 40 games. He also has a rather good disciplinary record. He is yet to be sent off in his professional career.

Wayne Rooney is the same player you praise when he plays for England (assuming your English). He became a footballer because he came from an under-priviledged background, growing up in Liverpool. There wouldn't have been many opportunities for kids like him, so he deserves credit for sticking to nurturing a talent he had and steering clear of a life of crime.

If you actually watched Cristiano Ronaldo playing you would see that he does plenty more than step-overs. He is a very accomplished player for being of such a young age. He will mature in years to come and be one of the best players in the world. I agree with you that he does dive from time to time, but that is because it's how he was brought up. The Portuguese are notorious divers and have a reputation for feigning injury. This is a big problem on the continent and is not tolerated as much in England because it wasn't really seen until there were a lot more foreigners in the league.

I also dislike Sol Campbell, because he's recently been keeping John Terry (a favourite player of mine) out of the England side. That, and he once dated Cristina Milian, who I will marry one day.

Silvestre sent off!

If Man U win all their remaining games, they'll finish the season with 92 points. Chelsea still need 10 wins and a draw to make it certain that they're champions. So it's not over yet, especially since Man U have got form and self-belief on their side now.

Having said that, my money's still on Chelsea.

Anyone know if celtic have signed a half-decent fast left back yet?
well Urlik Laursen's starting to play a bit more like his £1m price tag. We have Henchoz now, so we can choose between Balde, Varga, Valgearen, Henchoz, Laursen, McNamara at the back, so a left-back isn't so much of a problem now. Balde's signed up for the next 4 years now. We have a decent depth to our squad now, at last.

I'm from Darlo and they seem to be on the up and the moment, they were in the play-off spots for a while but now there just outside. Pools are doing really well, I reckon they can at least finish in the play offs. They made it in their first season in League 1

This is very true for now but next season might see a reappraisal of both teams standings in common opinion. That said the season is far from over and if Newcastle put in a good run, which i think they will now that they haven't got the Bellamy trash out of the way, they should be pushing for 5th. Unless Everton have a complete spasmodic episode they should get the 4th champs league place now.

Pretty convenient as they are about that many behind. It's funny how every team does it... But it's only now chelsea are caining everyone that they bring it up. What are you views?

Rangers have no good players 'cos they blew all there money on fatboy gazza in the 90's and have never made it back. Celtic don't buy players 'cos they had seriuos money problems in the late 80's and early 90's and were hours away from folding when they were bought by Fergus McCann who took there debt and made in to profit. They are now the 18th richest sport club in the world but are so afraid of it happenig again they wont free up alot of money for transfers.

hmm (whisper it) 9 in a row happened in the 90's... and they made it pretty far in the Champions League too. Rangers have more money cos they have an outright owner worth millions, who'll plough his money in whenever he wants. Celtic don't have that. We have a high wage bill as well. Yeah, Boro have been producing a few decent youngsters over the past 2 years or so. It might be to do with Steve McClaren working at United and seeing how the youth system operated there. Although saying that, we have hardly produced much young talent over the last couple of years. The only decent ones I can really think of are Fletcher and O'Shea.
