Hahaha. Who knows really, it may have just been a totally 100% off day for Man. City.
That or Sven was a little pissy lol. Who knows.
Hey, Spat Out, can you change avatars? I'm thinking I need a nice one Man. Utd. related in order to celebrate our Premiership win and our soon to be Champions League victory.
The only Man City fan I know had his stag do on Friday. He got so pissed that he came into the pub on Saturday still drinking, because he needed hair of the dog. He then got drunk again, so he was still hung over today. He showed up, looking like death warmed up, at 6pm.
He saw me stood behind the bar, with the world's biggest ****-eating grin on my face.....and decided to turn around, walk back out, and get his soon-to-be-wife to buy the drinks instead. Hahahahaha
Everything went how I wanted it to today, was an awesome day.

As much as I love Giggsy, and am well happy that he got the title-clinching goal on his record-equalling appearance, I wish he showed a little more emotion sometimes.
MOTD made me happy tonight, especially that closing segment.
And **** me at Rochemback's free kick. Has to be a contender for free-kick of the season.

Congratulations to United.
Rochemback's freekick was sublime. If only he did it more often! New Boro kit looks class.
Terry's dislocated his elbow but reckons it's only a 3-4 day recovery time and he'll be right for Moscow. 'Course he will.
When JT, goes up, to lift the Euro Cup, we'll be there, we'll be there.

Can't believe the Man City score. I know they've got problems with Sven leaving and stuff but still...
Man City were certs to get that fair play spot until Richard Dunne got sent off yesterday. Dunno how it stands now.
Also, anyone else notice how on MOTD they almost showed nothing except goals from our game? That made me laugh. When Rochemback lined up the free kick I was like, why are they replaying this? Didn't occur to me he'd score it.

Man City were certs to get that fair play spot until Richard Dunne got sent off yesterday.
He was unlucky with that, it didn't look like he meant to trip him.
Anyway yeah, I read in the report that Isaakson kept the score in single digits, but there were so many goals they weren't able to show the other chances on TV
Owen really shouldn't take our penalties, his last two should've been saved.

Now that this tournament is less than a month away, I thought it would be a great idea to start a dedicated thread to discuss what some say is arguably the hardest tournament to win in football/soccer (watch me get flamed on this) because of the high level of quality in the competition.
Feel free to discuss / debate and predict outcomes! Here are the groups:
Group A
Czech Republic
Portugal
Switzerland
Turkey
Group B
Austria
Croatia
Germany
Poland
Group C
France
Italy
Netherlands
Romania
Group D

in the world? who do you think they are?
Habib Beye!!
Well no, but I do love him, without a doubt one of the better right backs in the prem.
The four I had in mind were Dani Alves, Maicon, Phillip Lahm (who plays just as well on either flank), and Zambrotta. I said maybe because Zambrotta is debatable - since he went to Barcelona he's fell off a bit, but I still think he's quality.
There's also Zebina, Ramos, Zanetti, and Neville, who are all debatable for obvious reasons (discipline/consistency/age/injury).
Oh, and I forgot Rafinha, but then he hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do at the very top level. I think he'll do well though.

£45-55 million is hardly alot on less than 15 players. The club also seems to have a future other than avoiding relegation. Ask virtually any City fan, and they will tell you Sven should be there next season. Regardless of results in the second half of the season, this has been great for the team.
Dave de Sylvia
05-16-2008, 07:44 PM
£55 million, second only to Real Madrid in the world in terms of transfer expenditure, and that's not even factoring in wages and bonuses. Perhaps he was cursed by the team's great form in the early part of the season, but I wouldn't view his reign as a spectacular success or anything.

I can remember saying that, and believing it too. God, what an awful thought. I have to say though that it must have been longer than a year or two ago. I was very impressed with him at Euro 2004, and his dealings with C. Ronaldo, as mph4ever has pointed out. But for the last two years, and probably three, I have thought very little of him. I made a group on facebook protesting my hate for him and my love for Bridgey, join up I say. Spread the hate of A. Cole. Really, I hate him so much. I don't hate people, except for him.

Should at least be Charlton in there, where's the British love? :(
I can see Kaka heading to Chelsea now, pretty worrying if so. I see it as more likely him leaving than staying, he'll want to keep his Best Player crown and won't do it without Champs League football.

Instead of a place in one of the most exciting clubs in world football, one that could potentially become the dominant power in Europe, he's moved to a club that seems to be in freefall for the sake of a couple million quid. Genius, I tell ya.

I personally think this match is much too high profile for anything untoward like match fixing etc to happen. I doubt people* would want to risk having the result given to the opposition** due to evidence of outside interferance. So yeah I think the talk in the papers and on football sites are rubbish that Abramovich will have his influence...sure he might have the power too in Russia, but he doesn't control UEFA.

matt frost, heads groundsman for the champs league final, says the pitch is below anything available in the premier league, says its bumpy and that the ball will bobble. apparently when they put the markings on yesterday, you were actually made very aware of the uneveness of the surface. this scares me since chelsea have played on an atrocious surface for years.

Some amusing stuff on 365 in the build up to the final.
Reasons To Support Man U -
* They're the only thing standing between John Terry and the Champions League trophy.
* Peter Kenyon.
* In Lyon, Roma and Barcelona they have beaten three of the best teams in France, Spain and Italy while Chelsea have only had to face England's fourth-best side and the finest football Greece and Turkey has to offer. There's definitely a theory building that United have earned one final triumph.
* It might stop Clive Tyldesley mentioning "that night in Barcelona".
* For all of Ronaldo's faults...he's not Didier Drogba.
* The closer ManYoo get to 'five times' the more Liverpool fans will be getting worried. And there's little that's more entertaining than a defensive Scouser.
Reasons To Support Chelsea -
* Avram Grant could dispel the 'Special One' myth once and for all, by achieving what Jose Mourinho completely failed to achieve while Chelsea manager.
* To avoid the 'is this the greatest ManYoo team ever?' bollix that we will undoubtedly have to endure if ManYoo win.
* Rio Ferdinand and Ronaldo will probably cry if ManYoo lose. Who wouldn't want to see that?
* Ji-Sung Park, John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher should be nowhere near the title of 'European champion'.
* To see Sir Alex Ferguson's face turn redder than Red Square.
* To irritate all the millions of ManYoo 'fans' who would otherwise celebrate in your face on Thursday morning, despite the fact that you support Huddersfield Town and dream of nothing more than a League One play-off place.
"In 2002 Michael Ballack lost the Bundesliga, the German Cup, the Champions League final, and then was suspended for the World Cup final, which Germany lost. Give the guy a break!!! That is enough for me to throw my weight behind Chelsea, I just hope Cashley breaks his leg in the warm-up..."
"after chelsea1905 comment ive now swapped my allegeince to the mancs. actually, even better if both teams are found to be positive for drugs before hand, so the game isnt played, a riot ensues and the whole stadium is turned into one giant Gulag, would engish football be worse off ? discuss"

You know, it's funny, but there is a stigma over Chelsea becaue Roman was the first [foreign owner to throw bags of money in] in this era. Even though the exact same thing happens on varying scales at many clubs, Chelsea will always be branded the money-bags team who don't really deserve it, because we were the first.
I will only "gloat" to my brother if United happen to lose, as he has endlessly given me **** over the past 15 years during United's triumphs. So, if we beat him, he will be getting a phone call. Even though it will be 4am in Thailand.
The Chelsea team will be Čech, Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Makélélé, Ballack, Lampard, Kalou, Cole, Drogba in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 formation. If it's not exactly that, I will be surprised.
Barton is a really talented player. I'm surprised he'd not overrated in England they way Barry and Lampard are.
Lampard is under-rated. It's mainly only Chelsea fans like me who realise how good he is. The rest of you think he is over-rated Fat Frank who only scores goals. Wrong. And I'm surprised you didn't mention Gerrard. He's the most over-rated player in the history of sport.

Looks like cautious formations from both managers.
Essien at right-back, a bizarre decision considering he's the best midfielder on the pitch and playing right-full basically nullifies the considerable threat he poses. I can see why Grant would want to put somebody reliable in that position given the alternatives, but he's not the right player to put there.
Seems like Rooney is probably going to be on the wing again, which is just ugh.

United have played the better football, looks like it's gonna be a good final. 1-1 HT Chelsea got a bit of luck with their goal when we should really of been 2-3 up by now (Two tevez chances, one brilliant save and one missed sitter).
I think it's Uniteds right now, Essien can't handle Ronaldo, and Hargreaves is giving A.Cole a run for his money.
EDIT: Also what's up with Makelele? He's been up in the refs face and been booked for it, keeps on doing it, even his team mates are pulling him away..none of the decisions have anything to do with him but he's right in there even after his players yell at him not too :/ Nerves?

Aww phew.
And yeah, that Terry save was sick, as I'm rocking my Terry jersey.
I was gonna go to the bar w/ my buddy who's a ManU fan but I had class up until the second half so there was really no point.

I didn't know if there was any delay between the game and its broadcast in the States. Since that post was the first of the page, I was unable to take it in context, and realize that it was a prediction, and not the actual result.
I am hoping for a Chelsea win, and it looks like its about to happen.

Seriously, in big competitions like this they should just mark Ronaldo's penalties as a miss. He always buckles under pressure, that ****ing ****.

Magic moment right there, and a perfect GIF animation moment with Cole seemingly arse-humping the ground earlier on.
Michel Platini must be dreading this game, handing a trophy to an English team. :p

When Lampard hit the crossbar right near the end I thought it was in the bag.
But it was not to be. I found myself aggressively supporting Chelsea just because I hate Manu.

amazing, i dont know what to say..anyone who thinks Ronaldo wanted to leave after seeing how he reacted to the win, how he hugged Charlton and went with arms around Fergie is fecking thick.
Pity he cant play in the big games ;)
Love it absolutely love it.
Really felt bad for Terry though, he's chelsea through and through, he was clearly gutted..poor bloke.

When Terry stepped up I was thinking, this is what it has all come down to, this is the moment that 13 years at Chelsea has been building up to, this is the moment of your career. This is the defining moment. This is when you become one of the greatest club captains. This is when we become European champions and immortals forever. This is it. Go on JT, slot it home.

Yeah, when I saw him step up for the final penalty, the one to send us crashing out. I thought typical, this has to go in, he is Chelsea through and through, he will slot this home it means so much to him.
but it wasn't meant to be, and you and me are currently in complete opposite moods
note to self: check the green around the ball before taking a penalty

But it was Man U's season, so yeah.

I thought Man U played better in the first half, Chelsea were better in the second half, and extra time was fairly even with both teams having chances. We prob had the best though with the two Tevez misses, Carricks shot saved and Giggs shot blocked by Terry.
In the end I reckon it could of easilly been over by half time. But I think it went the right way.
Damn Ronaldo missing that penalty, could have been the end of it... I didn't even look, something told me he'd fail.
Luckily Manchester won <3
