I am confused as to why Crespo doesn't start every game for Chelsea that he's fit...they should line chelsea's strikers up and ask them "hands up who's a proven international world class striker" Crespo only I'm afraid...

well, crespo may not fit into chelsea's lone striker system. he has the finnishers and the skills but he cant out muscle defenders like drogba can. phsycally drogba > crespo. crespo is in his first season in chelsea under jose, give him time to adept, and crespo will have the whole half a season for him after drogba's gone.

drogba has been contributing well to chelsea, he's one of the top scorers and assist makers in PL. drogba is a good player but his bad finishers has been out shadowing what he's good at. drogba is also a very good team player, one of the very few strikers that would defend. to top on that when drogba gets on full form he's deadly, remember liverpool? byen munich? drogba dominated made defenders look silly, winning headers and was a constant threat in front. watch the video i posted he's very good and i think he'll get better as he gets used to EPL.

Oh yeah, some other comments:

It's time that Čech has a run on the bench and Cudicini is given a decent run in the side. Čech has lost his invicibility and has not looked like he did 12 months ago.

Perhaps José could try playing with Crespo and Drogba up front together, for 90 minutes. I like 4-3-3 with our morauding wingers, but it is ok to try new formations as well.

Gudjohnsen is class and needs to play more.

And United are back. I think the final ladder with be 1. Chelsea, 2. United, 3. Arsenal.
Cech isn't off-form, the defence is. Cudicini is a fantastic player, but Cech is still ahead of him. Like van Der Saar, Cech makes his defence look a lot better than it is. Chelsea's back four is far better than United's, but it's not done too well recently.

New idea: Switch Ferdinand and O'Shea. It stands to reason neither could do worse than the other at this stage.

No it is a real challenge at first. I think it is the most realistic football game I have ever played. I'm glad they slowed down the pace somewhat because it's more rewarding scoring a well worked goal than merely driblling round a whole team.

Just finished my first season on FM'06

Won League and Champions league (2-1 in Final against Arsenal) with Man united, signed Tevez and Evra.
Quarter finals of FA cup, beaten by Arsenal 2-0 at home, Fourth round of Carling cup, lost to Stoke on pens)

I don't like the unwillingness of clubs to sell players to me, It's going to take me more than my transfer budget to get Torres.

crespo is injured for one time and i kinda remember it was a minor one. he's been not playing for sometime, which brings up the question where is he?

Cudicini is class, i'd bet MU, arsenal and liverpool would love to have him.

its hard to say, robbern is injured and not fit to play. he has a history of having "glass legs" so i think he lacks the confidance after injuries in fear of breaking his legs again. Cole? great winger, was bought as a sub and now performing brillantly.

i know what you mean about MU, but we cant really judge their return to form by one game. though its great they won. but MU as always, start to lose form when face other smaller clubs. its the small clubs that MU are losing out. they gave good perfromances in most big name matches but when its time for them to face the others they slack.
Yes, winning the games that you should win is what wins a title.

See, Chelsea hammer Bolton 5-1 and West Brom 4-0, and have scored double (or very close to double) any other team in the Prem. Boring, Boring Chelsea? :) But that is why we are champions, because we very, very rarely don't win games we are expected and expect to win.

RandyfromPennywise

Is it me, or is Didier Drogba incredibly crap. And Chelsea cannot win without Robben and Lampard.
It is just you. He scored 30 goals in 2003/2004, was second only to Thierry Henry last season for goals:minutes and is leading the assists count in the EPL currently, while having scored nine goals of his own. He is the highest scoring forward in the Premier League fantasy game this season in what is apparently a bad season for a crap striker.

And you are also wrong about Robben. We can't win without Lampard, that is fact. Last two times we've been knocked out of the League Cup - Lamps didn't start. Lost to Porto last year - Lamps didn't start. Lost to Newcastle last year in the FACup - Lamps didn't start.

Like it or not, Lampard plays and Chelsea very rarely lose; Lampard doesn't play and they almost certainly do.

Cech isn't off-form, the defence is. Cudicini is a fantastic player, but Cech is still ahead of him. Like van Der Saar, Cech makes his defence look a lot better than it is. Chelsea's back four is far better than United's, but it's not done too well recently.

I have to disagree; Petr is in his worst form since joining Chelsea. That by itself doesn't say much though! But seriously, he has not looked anywhere near as commanding, in particular aerially. His major weakness is that he parries shots back in to play when he should put them wide - see the goals scored against us v Fulham (Bouba Diop screamer) and v West Brom (Gera screamer) last season. Of course he is class and in the top two or three 'keepers in the world, but he is certainly lacking confidence, that's plain to see. (Ok that comes from the defence but he is definitely not playing at his top level.)

Chelsea's defence - I think that Terry has been solid without being outstanding this year. Del Horno and Heinze - very different LBs, Heinze the hard man with all the bottle, Del Horno with the excellent passing and forward runs. I think I'd prefer Heinze at full fitness right now though. I like a full-back who gets as stuck-in as he does. I think Gallas at RB is better than Neville and in fact, despite slagging him off earlier, I think Ferreira's as good if not better at RB than Neville too. GNev and Paulo are similar players, offer very little going forward, do their job, don't stand-out but just do what they have to. I think Bridge, Johnson and Gérémi are better than United's back-up full backs though.

What Chelsea should play against Newcastle in two weeks' time:

Cudicini - Gallas Carvalho Terry Bridge - Makélélé Essien Lampard - Cole Crespo Duff.

Drogba's suspended and Bridge should return! Maybe even put Eidur in midfield instead of Essien!!!

Is it me, or is Didier Drogba incredibly crap. And Chelsea cannot win without Robben and Lampard.

drogba's last seasons stats was better then rooney and he has a long injury run. he's the top assist maker in the PL now if i remember right, one of the top scorers. he is also one of the few rare strikers and will defend, have you seen ronaldo or henry defend as much as him? drogba was also out of form last season, in a new club and country, under an injury spell. so we cant really judge how good is he based on last years performance alone ( and even that he has better stats then rooney ) . this season drogba is performing quite well not up to his standard in france yet but good. a lot of people and even chelsea fans diss drogba because of his terrible finishing and his clumsyness but if you look properly drogba is very important to chelsea and is perfroming.

chelsea can win without robbern and they've proven it. last year robbern had a long injury spell and that was at crucial games and chelsea managed to win.
why? chelsea's got joe cole....which is also a good winger.

lampard? yes chelsea would have peoblems.

What if Chelsea had Lampard or even just Terry Injured for a long layoff, as United's key Players, Keane, Heinze this year, and Ruud for most of last year have?

something to think about.
Lampard has played pretty much every single game for chelsea this year and last, that's got to change, simply the law of averages means he's got to pick up an injury at somepoint...How would Chelsea change? Who could they count on for passing, creativity and most importantly, GOALS?

We would be like we were in 2003/2004 but slightly better. Ranieri would have won us the Prem last year, but in a very different fashion. We'd have nicked it in the last game or so. We were very good without José. With him we are excellent.

If Lamps, Terry and Makélélé were injured - as was suggested - the line-up would be - GK - Del Horno Gallas Carvalho Ferreira - J. Cole Essien Gudjohnsen - Duff Crespo/Drogba Robben. That's still very strong. We'd lose the invicibility in the middle of the park, and Terry's influence and Lamps' brilliance, but we'd be ok.

No. Last season he had a case, but it's MARCO BRESCIANO from Parma who is our key man. He has a great shot on him (see his goals for 'stralia v Jamaica and New Zealand) and is the creative player we need to fire against Uruguay. Our best players are Bresciano, and Viduka (Middlesbrough). Cahill (Everton), Kewell (Liverpool), Grella (Parma), Culina (PSV), Neill (Blackburn), and, if on form, Emerton (Blackburn) are also good. Michael Thwaite (National Bucharest) and Ljubo Milicivic (FC Thun) are up-and-coming defenders, while Scott Chipperfield (Basel) is decent and consistent on the left too. Schwarzer (Middlesbrough) and Kalac (AC Milan) are quality 'keepers too.

Well **** me, we are through to Sydney without too much damage. I thought we could have nicked one, for sure, but they also could have easily put a second past us, and my word Popovic was lucky not to give away a penalty (or two). None of our players on yellow cards picked up a booking, and neither did any of theirs (amazingly). Bresciano and Cahill may well come in to the starting team now we don't have to worry about cards.

I thought it was overall a positive experience. We conceded the one goal after Chipper was caught out and shouldn't have been slacking at the back post, but we dominated the first half long periods and I thought the V-Bomber was outstanding, and Kewell, despite losing the ball too easily, worked hard, and we minimized the damage. Emmo was more than servicable, and Grella did well (and was lucky not to get booked). I can't wait 'til Wednesday, leaving Adelaide at 11 in the morning, gonna kick-off with any Uruguayan scum I see in Sydney.

Yes you would, as it would be 3-2 to Australia on aggregate. However if you win 3-2 on wenesday you wouldn't go through, as it would be 3-3 on aggregate and Uruguay would win on away goals.

I think it's really unfair though that Australia has to play this playoff against a decent South American side. I believe that Australasia should be awarded an automatic World Cup spot as then we'd have a representative from each continent.

Forget about me, my brother is the one who may top himself. He's 24, and he's been to the Iran game (the campaign where we didn't actually lose one match and went out on away goals) and the last Uruguay game, and now this is his third in a row. Another loss would be unbearable. I am looking for us at least to win the game, hopefully it will be enough.

RandyfromPennywise

Yes you would, as it would be 3-2 to Australia on aggregate. However if you win 3-2 on wenesday you wouldn't go through, as it would be 3-3 on aggregate and Uruguay would win on away goals.

I think it's really unfair though that Australia has to play this playoff against a decent South American side. I believe that Australasia should be awarded an automatic World Cup spot as then we'd have a representative from each continent.A couple of points...

If it's 1-0 to us then it will go to extra time... they have the advantage as we didn't score away from home...

And, Oceania is clearly the weakest continent.

Cantona and Klinsmann are two of the best strikers ever to play in the Premiership - especially the Frenchman. All of France should be shot for not doing everything in their power to keep him in the national team.

The real joke of FIFA and World Cup is CONCACAF. They have three and a half places. So, for a conglumerate of continents to get teams like Costa Rica assured of a spot every World Cup is a joke. They have Trinidad and Tobago playing off for a spot in World Cup, and meanwhile teams like Uruguay, Chile and Colombia fight for a half spot to play against us. The second strongest footballing continent, in fact the continent that has produced the best footballing nation in the world, and Argentina as well Uruguay, get four direct places. SAmerica should get five and a half spots, and CONCACAF should get two at the most. The pull of the US is too great though: they have to be in WC every time from now on...

There is nothing I can say. Last night at Telstra Stadium, Homebush, Sydney was the best. I have never had such a rollercoaster of emotions. We broke our chairs from jumping on them after the Bresciano goal. The atmoshpere was awesome, although it should/could have been more sustained, but at times it was absolute pandamonium, like after the goal and Schwarzer's two saves and Aloisi's penalty. I am emtionally drained now I'm back home, it's only 7.30 on Thursday night and I'm going to bed. I do not give a **** about anything else, not even if Chelsea lose every game for the next three years, last night is something that will stay with me forever and was the pinnacle of sport. I have never felt so proud to be Australian and to have so much emotion and everything invested in one game. It will never be forgotten.

I don't even know who Chelsea are playing this week. First time in a long, long time I haven't been up for a Chelsea match, let alone not knowing the opposition. I can't get myself up for any match after Wednesday night. Club football is inferior to International football. I think Saha would do very well with a move back to Fulham, somewhere he can get a game in between injuries. I don't think he'll ever have a chance of breaking down the Rooney-van partnership unless he forces one into midfield. He has a similar problem to Liam Miller, a tough time with injuries which led to an inability to return to a proper playing pattern.

Edit: To Randy.
Yes. In 2002 he took them to the semi-finals. An amazing performance really, considering the squad they had. And in 1998 he managed Holland at World Cup and made the semis as well. The Dutch were unlucky on that occassion, as they were only knocked out by Brazil on penalties in the semi. They lost to Croatia in the 3rd place match, but a young Bolo Zenden scored a screamer.

Does anyone here follow the a-league. My team, the queensland roar went down at home again last night 1 - 0.

Yes I follow the A-League. I am partial towards Adelaide United. The Roar really should be scoring more goals; they play sexy football but no goals! Miron Blieberg: God I hate that cunt. An absolute ****wit of the highest order.

kompany is joining chelski at the end of the 2006/2007 season I think.I'd'nt be 100% sure about that, because - despite being heavily linked with him - I doubt that there is anything concrete in place. The same situation exists with the Brazilian centre-back Alex, from PSV Eindhoven. He has been linked with us and it is reported that we have first option on him. I'd say it's likely we have first option on Kompany, but an arranged transfer is much less likely.

now all they have to do is beat Inter. which is going to be VERY VERY VERY hard. After watching the game at the San Siro a few weeks back, I still have hope that we can make it through. They got lucky with the deflected free kick from Cruz (?) so I think a 0-0 would have been fair. If we can nick a goal we might just beat them: they have nothing to play for and will want to avoid injuries at all costs etc... Now here's hoping they rest Adriano again!!!

On the Mourinho v Rijkard debate - for my two Euro cents it is Mourinho, hands down. What he did with Porto is truly remarkable in today's modern Footballing world. And he's done rather well at Chelsea I hear. Rijkard is obviously a top, top manager - you don't win La Liga if you haven't got some sort of managerial skills. But Mourinho is on his own at the moment, well, he and Guus Hiddink are the two stand-out managers in world football at the moment. What Guy Lugen (sp?) did with Lyon was amazing as well.

I think Chelsea will beat Pompey 2-0 or 3-1, the Arse will beat Rovers 2-0, but not so sure about that one, and Tottenham will beat Wigan by a goal. They're the only fixtures I can remember right now. Oh yeah, Scouse v City and Sunderland this week, I think they'll beat Sunderland and either draw with City or maybe nick it by one goal.
