Brazil 3 Germany 2.
I wanted the krauts to win. :( Germany look a vastly improved side from WC2002 but based on this tournament, they still don't have the quality to contend properly. Distribution was poor from players who should be better, like Schneider and Deisler, and they're still lacking the edge up front. Defence looks quite solid, though, which is great to see again in a German team.

I think what the fans are pissed about is the fact that Glazer's transferring all the loans he's taken out to buy the club onto the United books. In essence, Man U are now saddled with a huge debt. If it was my club, I'd be pretty angry as well. Not that anyone would want to buy Preston, though.

I don't think Gerrard ever really wanted to stay. His agent blamed the breakdown in contract talks on the fact that negotiations didn't start soon enough. But Liverpool tried to get Gerrard to talk about a new contract three times last season and he told them to 'wait'. It seems to me that this is just an excuse so that the fans won't hate him.

sad really that chelski are tempting him into becoming another football whore. if he stays at liverpool he'll be a legend there and they're on the up. chelsea are just a team of the moment, once the money goes (and it will when abramovic gets bored) they'll be ordinary once again. gerrard needs to stay where he is if common sense prevails.

I can't see Gerrard walking into Chelsea's team. They don't need him. What they need is a goalscoring combination, Gerrard's presence would interfere with Makelele's work imo. I think Gerrard is overrated anyway. He's capable of greatness, but 9 times out of 10 he doesn't show up when he's needed.

well, he'll probably replace Makelele. Chelsea buy way too many players, so everyone just ends up getting replaced pretty quickly.

Replace Makelele? No way. Makelele is the glue that holds Chelsea together. Without him they'd fall apart. He's something Gerrard isn't - consistent.

they'll have to change their formation completely if they want to include Gerrard, cos he's no way as consistant as Makelele and he's not a player like Joe Cole.
they dont really need Gerrard i think. he'll fit in perfectly in Real Madrid though

Its official gerrard has made a u-turn and decided to stay which has stunned me to say the least. I think its just a matter of time before wright-phillips joins chelsea even if it isnt this summer it will be next year i think he may not want to leave city this summer because of the world cup next year and if hes isnt playing week in week out at chelsea it might effect his chances of getting picked. It's odd that chelsea were going to pay anything up to 60 mill for a new striker and they already have one of the best in europe on their team in crespo, I was incredibly pissed off when chelsea bought him, he just never settled over here, my bet is mourinho can get the best out of him.

Real said they didn't want to get in a bidding war, so they set a maximum of 50m euro, which Chelsea would almost certainly top. Gerrard is expected to sign a new contract on Friday, but he'll probably change his mind 7 or 8 times in the mean time.

who the hell would spend 20 million for Jermaine Jenas?
I know! He is definately not of the same calibre as Vieira. We Arsenal fans have just gotta trust Wenger. Personally, I think Maniche, Van Bommel or Ballack would be a good replacement in the central midfield position.
