I've never seen a top side play as poorly as Arsenal did today, at least not since the last Liverpool match. Lehmann was the only Arsenal player to perform well, the rest of the side was a really bad, overpaid joke. How a team could actually celebrate winning after putting on that shitshow for their fans is beyond me. If I was in the side I'd be apologising to them.

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to the rules of football between man utd fans. You see, to win a game of football you actually need to score more goals than the opposition.

It may come as a surprise to find out that the referee is not obliged to add time onto the clock, award penalties arbitrarily and simply give the match to you because you played better and your team are worth more.

However, I'm sure you are all genuinely suffering from the perceived injustice of yesterday so let me just add this:

Ha ha.

You say that, but i can't help but notice arsenal are FA cup winners, and finished second in the premiership. They are currently buliding a new stadium and have qualified directly for the champions league.

Newcastle have players fighting their team mates, players sending texts to their club captain laughing at the fact thjat they got knocked out of cups, an out of date chairmen, and are playing in the intertoto cup next season

Out of date chairman ?

Arsanal have always been good, but everyone amkes out that Arseanl are the best in England, you WERE.

You beat us twice this season, very luckily and close .

Newcastle have never been amazing, we finsihed 3rd a couple of seaons ago.

Arseanl barely have any English players in their 1st team squad.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-22-2005, 10:39 AM
Arsenal have always given english talent a chance, as long as it is good enough to improve the team. See how Ashley Cole kept Silvinho out of the team.

You chairman is awful, always makes Newcastle out to be the greatest club ever.

Arsenal would be the best team in england, and would have won the premiership if we had not struggled with injuries to key players in the middle of the season, and had money to strengthen the squad.

We beat you twice, close results, but still beat you. I don't see what was so lucky, both teams could've had penalties in one match and i can't remember anything controversial about the other game.

Rancid Dan
05-22-2005, 10:40 AM
Our Chaiman has A LOT of money.

I see that Ashley Cole is the only English player you mentioned.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-22-2005, 10:45 AM
So what? Why should teams be obliged to buy English players that aren't good enough to get into the first team. We've brought through/signed Campbell, Jeffers, Pennant, Taylor, Upson, Cole, Hoyte and Smith over the last few years.

Newcastle are hardly saints are they, look at their recent singnings.

And the english players you have bought have caused nothing but trouble.

Rancid Dan
05-22-2005, 10:51 AM
Milner, Ambrose, Dyer, Jenas, Bowyer, Taylor, Ramage, Butt, Elliot, Shearer, Harper, Bramble, Ameobi are some English players in out team and two of them have caused trouble.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-22-2005, 11:00 AM
Dyer, Jenas, Bowyer and Bramble have all caused trouble for you.

And as signings, Jenas, Ambrose, Milner, Bramble, Butt etc have really brought the team on leaps and bounds.

I mean seriously, this argument gets so tiring. It's all bitter teams having a go at clubs that intelligently buy good players. Bolton have survived in the premiership purely from brining in experienced foreigners on loan each year. Same as all the other promoted clubs. Manchester United haven't bought an english man for years, aside from Alan smith and it's not like he's been a big hit. (and Rooney who was a massive signing)

English players are over priced, and not as good as people make them out to be. The fact is that all the best english players are already key players for big clubs, and many don't have the money to spend on these players.

Rancid Dan
05-22-2005, 11:03 AM
What have Jenas and Bramble done to cause us trouble ?

And as signings, Jenas, Ambrose, Milner, Bramble, Butt etc have really brought the team on leaps and bounds.

Actually they are great players, seeing as though most of them are under 22 years old, they have a lot of prospect.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-22-2005, 11:05 AM
Bramble has been invloved in a lot of night club scraps etc along with Dyer and Jenas.

I'm sure they arae great players, proff of that is the fact that the seasons following their signings have resulted in you rapidly slipping down the league

Rancid Dan
05-22-2005, 11:07 AM
wtf, we've had Jenas, Dyer, Milner etc.. for ages....

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-22-2005, 11:20 AM
You've had milner for 2 seasons (i think), hardly ages.

I have no idea what your talking about now, the fact remains that the best english players will never lleave the clubs they are at, and therefore are unrealistic transfer targets.

People saying thatarsenal don't sign or develop english players are wrong, and it's a petty and bitter argument none the less

Yeah, we played really badly, I think Lehmann was the only Arsenal player really giving it his best. United were unlucky and Van Nistelrooy trying to do that back-heel/flick thing and ended up nutmegging himself, lol, show-off. He could've finished Arsenal right there.

Summarise your teams season
----------------

Man City

Average beggining to the season, nothing special really.A few injuries let us down and left us a very small squad, which left the youth squad to come in, I thought this was risky but in the end it has paid off. We've gotten Onuoha (sp?), Lee Croft, Stephen Jordan, Willo Flood.

It had gotten pretty boring towards the end of the season, no consistency, but at least this time we werent battling to stay away from relegation!

When Pearce came in everything changed. There seemed to be a new team coming out who were really trying to get the win, and wouldnt take no for an answer. Lost the first game under Psycho, but didnt lose again all season - 8 Games, something to be proud of. And to top it all off, we missed out on a UEFA place by one goal, which Fowler could have gotten if he scored the injury time penalty. Although it was justice since there was no actual offence

poorquality

Man Utd

Started poor with injuries, got better as season progressed, lost vital points to lower down sides, ruud got injured...team got better, scored more goals, won nearly every game...ruud came back...stopped scoring, lost more points, dominated games but still didnt score with only ruud up front.

Manager needs someone to let him know 4-5-1 does not work, and we shouldnt play englands best striker on the right wing.

Glazer puting upto 740 mil debt on us now apparently...

FA Cup Final was a joke, we dominated but couldnt score still...ruud is past it..

That pretty much sums it up. There were a few highlights though. Doing the double over Liverpool and Arsenal. Gabriel Heinze, some of Wayne Rooney's amazing goals...erm, that's about it.

I don't think it's fair to say Ruud is past it. He still managed to get 16 goals in 25 starts which isn't a bad ratio. When he's on form, he is still one of Europe's best strikers eg. 4 goals in one game in the Champions League. He'll be back to his old self next season once he's shaken this injury off.

This was emailed to me by one of my mates...not being a man u fan i found it quite amusing.....and probably quite true...a "letter" from the american bloke to all manu "fans"....

"Dear Soccer fans,

As you all know, I've been looking to buy the United's of Manchester for
a little while now. I've also heard that some of you may not be too
happy about me using, sorry, buying the club in order to reach new
heights and also, that I may not be a fan.

Well fear not, as I'm writing this personal letter to let you know that
I'm a genuine fan of you blue devils.

I began rooting for the United's back in 1992 when our little Malcolm JR
was practising those Soccer home runs out in the yard. I loved the way
you turned defence into offence, and the way that Bobby Shearer used to
top half it into the goal bag. Oh man, that play was hot. My son tells
me that you even out-zoned your City rivals Southampton in the 4th
quarter of the FA World series.

As for your current team, that Rude guy is awesome!!!! I see a
profitable future at the United, with the young talent of Cristiano
Rooney (man, that guy can dance!) and Peter Shilton giving us hope in
defeating the evil Russian tyranny which assaults the freedom of our
beloved Soccer.

With the marketing potential of those Neville brothers and that Pearce
dude leading the team, we can all look to achieving our beliefs of a
better future. Especially when I add Alexei Lalas and Cobi Jones to the
starting 15.

Now to you, the fans.

I've been to see the United's play once before, and the respect you pay
your team in silently admiring the play out on the pitch was
overwhelming. Because of this, I've just purchased a new #45 million
mansion in the Manchester to be close to you guys. And more good news is
I'm planning to add an extra 10,000 seats through corporate boxes so
more genuine blue devils can experience the play.

What's with the prawn sandwiches I had to eat when I was there? Well,
rest assured, it'll be super size prawn baguettes when I take charge.

I can't wait to come over to the Manchester isles, as I love the
country, especially the beaches and the hot chicks.

I hope you can all see my vision of this future, with new shirt sponsors
(Dunkin Donuts) and new team name (The Manchester Gloom) I'm sure things
are looking bright.

*Further good news for you guys is that I've just agreed a partnership
deal with McDonalds, who will help in promoting the Manchester brand.
This will involve re-naming the stadium to 'McTrafford' as well as an
exciting launch of Manchester Gloom plastic fan toys in every happy
meal.

Cristiano Rooney will be the face of this campaign and during this, he
will be marketed globally as Roonald McDonald.

Take care dudes.

MG."

Schevchenko really did mess it up at the end. Dudek made a great save from his header originally but then with the goal at his mercy he ,anaged to kick the ball straight at dudek's hands when he was laying on the floor.

and then to cap it all he missed his penalty!

Can't quite believe they manged to win it.

Shevchenko played amazing, as did Kaka, Gerrard and Carragher.

Shevchenko couldn't have done anthing about the double save, and any other time, the keeper would have dived to eother sode and it would have went straight into the net.

Kaka also played great in the first half, then somewhat vanished for the rest of the game

Twat_Out_Of_Hell
05-26-2005, 01:21 PM
Yeah, in the first half Kaka managed to keep getting in between liverpool's centre mid firld of Alonso and Gerrard and then could keep running at the centre of defense. Then, Traore especially, the pool defense couldn't decide whether to go to him or to let him run.

His through balls were excellent, he kept picking out his man so well.

Liverpool got much better when they denied Kaka the room to dictate all the play, and also they stopped punmping long balls up to Baros (that were easily delt with by Stam and Nesta) and got the ball down and played football

.

oi!

All i know on the subject is our manager has been trying to phone him to sort out a contract as he was only on a 1 year and St juste isnt answering his calls whilst sneakily having talks with southampton. it aint going down too well with the darlington fans.

As for the player hes skillfull and can take people on, but then most of the time cant get a decent cross in. He is also very small and weak and gets outmuscled far too easily. I honestly dont rate him that much, and hes only young so i dont feel he's nowhere near good enough for championship level.

Oh and about saying players coming from Darlington is a bad thing, a lot of the good players come from the lower leagues. Look at Robbie Blake now, he started off at Darlington. now hes at Birmingham. DeVos who plays for Ipswich also started off at Darlo

What? They were the worst? Davis won practically every ball he challenged for, had to cover for Hill a load and was generally awesome (compared to the rest of our players). Same goes for Mawene, except for the Hill bit. Our worst players were O'Neil and McKenna, neither of them could keep the ball and didn't close down the West Ham midfield. Sedgwick was pretty darn poor as well.

Crouch played ok last night. :thumb:

Van Buyten will be an excellent signing for Newcastle.... he was the one that was loaned to Man City a few seasons back.

I think Van Buyten is a great player. Got all the qualities of a top centre-back...strength, pace, height, can head the ball and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

Yeah he is a quality defender. He's also great on Football Manager, my tool for knowing good players. :p

I didn't see any mention in the thread of Van Nistlerooy leaving. It's all the papers have talked about recently.

I hope he goes after Michael Owen as a replacement. He's not getting any decent action at Real, and having Rooney and Owen playing together at club level will be awesome for the national side.

Anyone hear about Raul? It sort of makes sense, but it still sounds like newspaper crap. I wanna know where they get these stories from. Last week, United were linked with 7 different goalkeepers

some premiership team (cant remember who) are after Robert Green from Norwich..WHY? He's terrible. He was easily the worst keeper last season, and he let the most goals in. why would anyone want him...And why did he get an England cap, There are miles better English keepers than him.

thats like saying Robinson is bad becuase he let loads in when Leeds went down. Green is overated, but he isn't bad.
