No. Why?

mister_riz
07-12-2004, 08:19 AM
No. Why?

First Story: Papers report that he's going, and its pretty much certain (unreliable)

Second: He didn't celebrate winning the league with the team at White Hart Lane, instead he just went home. (Oh dear)

Third: Edu wrote an article in the paper saying how he was begging him to stay because the team will suffer without him. (Reliable)

Fourth: Ljungberg not impressed with Wenger commenting on how if he wants to stay his form needs to improve (true, but oh dear)

Final: Ljungberg in the Sunday paper saying he's probably going to leave, because it's time to go, his lack of form over the last two years and most of all how he hates the constant attention from fans, he said he feels he cant go anywhere in London without being harassed for autographs:upset:

Ljungbergs well under-performed the last two years, but if we had him at full fitness next season I dont think anyone could realistically put up a fight against us, I mean we won it in style last year with many players under performing, especially him. Imagine if players like him regained their best form to go with our new signings? Champions League? Oh yes...

He's not been playing that well since our last double winning season but i'd love him to stay because he always seems to try his hardest.

But then again i can't imagine what kind of Arsenal player would not want to celebrate winning the title at White Hart Lane

Exactly. Remember this, he will either:

1) Stay at Arsenal, but to do this he will need to get his head together and motivate himself 100% otherwise Wenger will sell him in January.

2) Move to Real Madrid or Inter for 10-12m

Mark my words, it'll be most likely number 2.

In some ways it's good though, squads change, ours wont be that badly affected because Pires can play on the right, Reyes can play left wing (he's best at Striker, but for covering purposes) and most of all Jermaine Pennant will get a chance - and if he doesn't this season we'll lose our finest young prospect.

Drop The Baby
07-12-2004, 08:34 AM
The trouble is we can't really aford to lose an experienced player like Ljungberg as there is not enough cover as Wiltord left as well. I'd prefer to keep Pires on the left and Reyes upfront because i think we're more dangerous like that. Cole and Pires link so well as does Henry when he drifts left, and he's just starting to link up well with Henry as they understand each other more

Yep, thats right I totally agree. I was just exemplifying the possibilities of a situation where Wenger couldn't find a replacement. But with 10-12m? Wenger wouldn't let us down;)

It's true but we'd have to buy someone proven as at that stage of the season we couldn't afford to bring in someone inexperienced. I think if he's likely to leave the signing will be made sonn.

apparently we're chasing Trabelsi (Ajax right back) and have agrred a fee of £2.7million.

I don't think McLaren is a very good manager. He's had a lot of money to spend over the past few years and hasn't done anything in terms of getting them into Europe. He's also made some very bad signings like Michael Rickets from Bolton and Malcom Christie etc etc

David O'Leary is a good manager but Aston Villa's squad is too small and Ellis won't fund him to improve the squad

Arsenal said that the only way they would sell vieira is if they get morientes plus 10m in exchage. I might settle for that because think about it, its really its a win-win situation because there two great players. If arsenal end up keeping vieira then great but if we dont and we get morientes instead it would still work because reyes can play midfield so wenger can put him in centre midfield where vieira used to play and have henry and morientes up front as strike partners. C'mon look at that, henry and morientes up front with reyes and pires behing them in the midfield, that would be lethal.

Drop The Baby
07-16-2004, 09:22 AM
That would be lethal but you can't underestimate Vieira. He's the greatest player in the world in his position and we already have Reyes in his position who is equally dangerous.

Yeah, but you'll be losing the best defensive midfielder in the world, and the guy that really drives the team. And personally I dont think that front four is any better than Henry, Pires, Ljungberg and Reyes. Surely 10 million just isnt enough to buy a new holding midfielder and possibly a new goalkeeper as well.

We got our new goalkeeper. He's called Alumnia and is from Celta Vigo although he spent last season out on loan.

I personally think Vieira is in the top 5 players in the world and we don't have anyone, and can't afford anyone to replace him which is what Medopolis basically said

Yeah, but Chelsea didnt have a great, settled team. Last season Madrid had no defence, whereas that team I listed above has no players who I would consider less than world class (the worst is probably Salgado). Sure, someone else could possibly win, maybe Milan or Juventus, but I would be willing to put quite a lot of money on Madrid. I rate Camacho as a seriously good coach as well.
They still havent got a defense now apart from carlos. The've got samuel but he got sodded against owen in the world cup.
This links with the vieira story because he wants to challenge in europe. The only way he arsenal can do that is if he stays at the club. I think he should if he wants to make an impact in the champions league because arsenal are a better team than real madrid and could beat them anyday.

Coming off of last season's Super Bowl winning performance, New England looks to have another strong showing assuming that the Defensive lineup stays intact and solid. But my team for the season would have to be Atlanta. With Michael Vick coming back healthy and injury-free, he is looking to carry the Falcons to the playoffs.

Wait...

Ohhhhhh that kind of football.... riiiiiiiiiight

*just some stupid American humor, I really don't know why we call our football football and not like... tackleball or something. Sorry if someone already posted something like this, but I didn't feel like reading through the thousands of posts*

Tell me in the secret thread, Jess :p

I'm noy sure about Kezman as a signing. I agree that thery should have bought a proven world class goalscorer which even Drogba is not yet
