Its an utter discrace. The bad thing is, it isnt the first time. They still have huge fences around alot of stadiums, and not just in Italy, i mean all over Europe. Why the hell do these people see a football match as a place to start a war? You wont see that in the UK these days. We di have alot of fights, but they are usually low scale and are handled by the cops
It used to be a problem in English football, until it was stamped out. Remember Ireland v England in Dublin? Had to be abandoned because there were people who weren't there to see football, just to start a fight. You wouldn't be able to bring a flare to a game in the UK these days.

Someone had a flare at a United game a few weeks ago, and it annoyed the hell out of me because they are notorious for european matches, and i didnt want to end up inheriting(sp?) their traditions because of the violence and anger we see
Butch Walker

If an English club did that UEFA would kick us out of Europe for 3 seasons
i bet they'll do nothing to the italians
No they wouldn't. Although Anders Frisk was hit by a missile from Roma supporters earlier in the season, so action against Italy as a whole may come of this. It's a real shame the Italian game is marred by this stuff, AC have shown they're easily the best team in Europe.

Serious? I thought things had become ultra-tight in the Premiership. Still, the English game was forced to clean itself up after the European ban, and again in the 90's, it'd be a shame if the same was necessary to clean the Italians up.

I see 3 British players in that team that's learned a lot from the influx of foreigners there, and have now surpassed them. If only Arsenal could take more heart from that. More do need to come through the youth ranks at some point though.
Besides, everyone knows that Forest are providing the top clubs with the best new British players these days. Its like the rich kid at school who is bullied for their lunch money everytime they get it.
Of course, that may not have been what you were implying when you say they are ruining English football.

Inter only rent their ground, and I heard that it is illegal for them to police their own ground, so really there's nothing Inter could have done to stop what happened. I think they should be made to play their games behind closed doors next season in Europe would be enough.
I can never understand how the Italians are allowed all those flairs in their grounds though.... you struggle to get a bottle top in in any other country...

Italy is far bigger than England, though.
Also - as wierd as it sounds - the weather is much nicer in Italy, which really helps them. A lot of kids only play football when it's warm and sunny.

Rewind to 1978. The Pope died. Wales won the Grand Slam. And Nottingham Forest - the eventual English champions - beat Liverpool in the League Cup final.
Now look at 2005. The Pope died. Wales won the Grand Slam. And Chelsea - probably the eventual English champions - beat Liverpool in the League Cup final.
Who won the Champions League in 1978?

He should have scored too. He had one defender to beat.
Plus dont know who, but one Liverpool player took a shot from his own area that was destined for the goal, as their keeper was near the halfway line. If he hadnt been positioned where he was, it would have been some sort of record.

Saints let in goals easier than everyone in the premiership i think. The defending is awful.
All the bottom of the table results went our way this weekend :D
the patriots need to stop winning and let the panthers win.

Johnson is a good player, there's no denying that. He's scoring or creating practively every time palace score. His all round play is very impressive, he's direct and quick.
He's behind Owen, Rooney and Defoe in the England pecking order and about on a par with Alan smith in my opinion.
and Smith needs to get more games, it pains me to say this about a united player, but he's good.

Inter are a very average side, AC are far and away the best team in Europe. They've shown that all through the Champion's League, while Inter have never hit the highs of a few years ago. That said, Milan are often quite defensive, but they are quite capable of taking the game to the opposition. I love to watch them play, they're a joy to watch.

I think Neville deserves to be sent off purely for complete stupidity. If you're a professional sportsman, you have no right to respond to the crowd in that way at all. It's not so much the consequences of what he did so much as the fact that he even did it.
I agree, he fully deserved his red card.
Does anyone rember when Carragher threw a coin into the crowd and the ref led him tot he bench then sent him off? Its sort of like the same thing as Nevilles.

I'd say Chelsea could beat AC Milan.
I don't think they have the quality going forward. Then again, I thought Juve would slaughter Liverpool in both legs, so..
I'd personally say that when Beckham finally gets dropped by England, he's the front runner for the captaincy, just ahead of Gerrard.
I'd say he and Campbell are the only two natural leaders in the squad. He should be made captain regardless of Beckham's presence in the squad. Although I can see Sven giving the captaincy to Owen again. ****ing eejit.

Anyone watching the south coast derby tommorow? I reckon it'll be a 1-1 or 2-1 saints win.

Nice to see some optimism :chug:
Crouch was poor at the beggining of the season. Plus Michael Svennson being injured all season was a massive blow.
I'd pick Ferdinand and Terry if I was Sven.
Ferdinand is an asset because he has a lot of technical skill, and is better at getting the ball out of defence and setting up an attack than most of his rivals. He reminds of the sweepers I used to watch in Futbal Italia when I was a lot younger.
Was it called Futbal Italia? That doesn't sound right somehow.
Anyway, awesome results for Palace and Norwich today. This is the most exciting relegation battle I can remember.
And, even with games in hand, I can't believe Newcastle are 14th.
Rancid Dan

I know, 14th is ****ing terrinble, we have 2 games in hand to most teams though, we will do well to get in the top half of the table at this point

Hmmm Petrov got hit in the face with a rather large missile from Rangers fans after he scored his goal. In true Old Firm fashion, the ref booked Petrov for provoking the fans! None of this "stopping the match" bollocks.

If we beat Norwich and Palace we will stay up. Last game is United at home, which i reckon will be a draw.

But if Southampton get relegated, we're having Crouch :thumb:

We won't need to sell all our players becuase of the parachute payments. I can see a few leaving (Niemi, Prutton, McCann etc) but they can be repalced. I'm not sure Crouch would leave, but be warned.... Shearer is the only saints player to leave and do well. Everyone else has been pretty much useless.

2-1 for Celtic at Ibrox today :chug:
yet another cracking game for Bellamy, ran rings around Rangers and scored a peach of a goal... I'm praying we can hang onto him now, he'd go pretty far in filling in for Henrik Larsson I think.
